everything is identical but the white compartment, the lancer is sealed and is gray and no option to remove it. bad luck thanks anyway.

Here is another image for you. For the first time installation, the filter housing is sealed. Use a sharp knife to cut the cover along the lines to form a rectangular open. Remove and dispose the cut out cover. Good luck!

2002 Mitsubishi Lancer use the same OE Replacement Cabin Air Filter Part No: MR398288 but how to replace?. Sorry, I don't know! I only have a 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander

the 2005 mitsubishi lancer has a nearly identical process to remove the in cabin air filter. and i bet there are other models of mitsubishi that are the same as well.
