  • Does it works for terrapin turtles?? oh and terrapin turtles are land turtles, do they lay eggs in water or land? Do you know how to tell a terrapin turtle's gender??

  • @Horseridinggirl31 yes it works for land turtles. they lay eggs on land. Go by tail size. the opening in the tail be past side of shell if female. In a male the opening in the tail(cloaca) will be way past the edge of shell.

  • 0.o my turtle's pregnant.

  • @WeTrytoAmuseYou congrats ^w^

  • can u give me more tips like how to breed turtle and stuff ty so much

  • does this work for eastern box turtles

  • how u know it have eggs just keep looking at it or wait untill u see them mate O.o how hard is that

  • @Randomaccounttable it just knowing your turtle. Females that have eggs sometime turn aggresive towards you and tank makes, always trying to esacape or restless. Digging with back legs into basking dock.

  • how old will a RES be before it is sexually mature

  • @turtleshack100 its not about age. Its about shell length. 6inches females will lay usually.

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins what about a male

  • So do turtle's have eggs in them wont they need a male to make the eggs relally come to life?

  • @3166candy yes, turtles are just like chickens though. The eggs you eat are unferilized

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins

    well thx for telling me

  • I have a red ear slider acting different and I tried to see if she had eggs but I did not feel any

  • what if your turtle doesnt let you put your finger in her, if i was turtle i wouldnt want that either, so wat do i do?

  • @ripstik4444 but her in water. When she tries to swim legs will come out and kick.

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins ok thanks :D

  • how many eggs does a female res lay??

  • @Scottvampwolf usually up to 15

  • @MarshmilloJB rhx. i'll keep that in mind.

  • how big do they have to be for eggs?

  • @titanic98810 what turtle species are you asking about specficly

  • Comment removed

  • @titanic98810 red eared slider

  • @titanic98810 around 5-6inches in shell length is most common for female to start to lay eggs

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins My mississippi map mated with my friends turtle and were waiting for eggs to hatch so i can keep 1 an dhe wants 1 and well give the rest to a small turtle shop in our downtown area.

  • @titanic98810 for female res, 7 year approx! ;)

  • @MarshmilloJB ok thanks but how do you find out what the age is?

  • @titanic98810 u cant!! u have to keep track, but i know 4 a fact that 4 painted turtles, its mostly about how big the turtle is. check wikipedia for red eared sliders 4 more!!!

  • @MarshmilloJB ok thnx

  • were can i get a diamond back terrapin

  • @Cutemonkey271 that doesnt sound good, thats something you should have a vet look at.

  • Can I hurt it, when trying to remove her leg? She really dont want me to put my fingers inthere, and I don't want to heart her.

  • @Simon4romDk just put her in the water and when she tries to swim and moves leg you should be able to get in the gap of her legs. Dont try and force to move her legs. Dont work now try again later evntually you will get in there.

  • where are u feeling? u were unclear. are u feeling the shell area? or the bottom area? dorsal? ventral? are u feeling the eggs w/ your thumbs?

  • my hands can' t go in

  • did she was carrying 4 eggs?

    all of them usually hatch?

  • @Sebgarcia04 she had way more then 4 eggs, but with feeling you can only feel the first 4 or so. In this case she actually laid all her eggs in the water and then ate them

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins Me and my friend are gonna try to mate or turtles.

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins wat do u do after they produce the eggs in the water

  • My hands would be scratched if I held her like that without gloves.

  • nice dude, that was very helpful i knew someting was up with her

  • Actually, I normally hold the turtle facing me, my fingers (except my index fingers) are on the bottom of the plastron, and the index finger is inserted in to the (inguinal pockets) or the folds of skin infront of the back legs, then I tilt the turtle vertically and rotate back down to horizontal and the eggs move against your fingers and you can count two or three on each side. If you count two or three then there are about 5-6 or more eggs.

  • They're just like normal Terrapins? :S I dunno:p Nah! I'm not gonna go murdering them! I'll probs sell them to a pet shop or something! Yeah.. Now I need to do my research on giving her somewhere safe to lay them! Thanks for your help! :D

  • My Terrapin has two eggs at both sides of her tail.. She has a male in the tank with her, although i just figured this out! :P Does this mean that she's going to deposit of these eggs? If so, how do i know if these are fertilised eggs? and what will i do with the eggs? or what will i not do with the eggs? Thanks for your help and Video! :)

  • @Loralockz1 You cant know the eggs are fertilized until egg actually starts developing and the eggs will develope a specific look to it. IF she has most likely she will. If they are red eared sliders and you honestly dont have the space for more turtles, cause remember they dont stay small forever. Just destroy the eggs when she lays them. Otherwise look at my temp. nesting area video.

  • @ng31200 hmm usually you can feel one bone, but if your feeling two bumps that should be eggs maybe. Only bone you will feel is leg bone and that you will feel on the bottom of your finger

  • I have a question.. Are you a turtle collector???

  • @pfeifferaaron No o.o

  • i got red eared slider i'm wondering do you need any specific depth of soil or sand since it's my first time that i think my terrapins mated ????

  • @PpVaLLeTTa depends on size of res. Basically take the length of shell and that is about how much depth you will need.

  • will this work on other turtles?

  • @beakarmela yes, video would be called how to tell if your diamondback terrapin has eggs if it was just for diamondbacks haha

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins ohh ok thanks though ill try this to my asian box turtle!

  • But what if my turtle is too small for me to feel her sides? Shes about a years to 2 years old and I have a male and a female, i have only had them for about 2 months together, but do you think they will start mating? And one last thing, do you know how old turtles have to be before reaching their maturity level? Thank you!!

  • @thatonechick4444 actually maturity of a turtle has nothing to do with its age. Turtle maturity by their size. The shell of the turtle has to be at least 4inches in size just to sex it then to start breeding a females shell should be at least 5inches in length. IF you can not get your fingers in the side it sounds like your turtle isnt at the 4inch range yet.

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins Okay, Thank you so much for all the help!!!! :)

  • if ur turtle has never seen a male turtle before and has enevr layed eggs before, would i expect it to EVEr lay un fertile eggs?

  • @randomrazr there is always a chance it could lay eggs.

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins for 19 yearsm she never has layed eggs lol

  • @randomrazr yea i have heard people haveing their turtles for 15+years and then one day lay eggs. Your turtle a red eared slider?

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins yea man red ear slider, shes a female, and 19 years and going lol

i made a couple vids on her on my channel if u wanted to check it out.

ive chcked every year using ur method to see if she has eggs, never had, never layed lol

  • @randomrazr well females like that have never had a male usually dont get a full clutch and only get 1 or 2 eggs and if no nesting area is provided they actually can reabsorb the eggs into their system if they feel nesting isnt important. The large female res I had reabsorbed her eggs.

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins wow they can reabsorb eggs? did not know they can do that llol, thats pretty cool.

just one final quetstion, if she wanted to lay eggs, when is the best time of year?

  • @randomrazr Since it looks liek you keep her indoor really it can be anytime. Thats another reason why you turtle doesnt lay eggs. The temps never change for her to know of seasons.

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins she knows when its winter cause she sleeps alot lol spring summer shes really active.

and yeah shes indoor alot, i do take her out side from time to time to bask and walk around, but most of the time she tries to find a place to hide lol.

thanks for the info man! it was really helpful!

looking forward to your vids as always!

  • How many eggs can my African Side neck Terrapin turtle lay?

  • @HamHamHamstery 4-10eggs

  • DO you need a male for eggs to happen with red eared sliders diamondback terrapins? Thank you!

  • @zhhh90 No females can still lay unfertilized eggs

  • Hey, thanx for the vid. And cute turtle. I have 2 red eared sliders. A smaller one that I believe is the male(4 inches), and a bigger(5 1/2 inches) one that I believe is the female. I think that the female is carrying eggs but I'm unsure. About 1-2 weeks ago the turtle just stopped eating, started basking all day, and sleeping all day. When she used to eat a LOT, bask only a little, and Never sleep during the day, only at night. Does this sound like she is pregnant?

  • Whats with your shaking hands???

  • ? if you look at the back of the turtle on both sides of the tail, if they are hard and oval shaped would you say that that would be the eggs also? Both of my females have signs of that compared to the males and the girls are exibiting signs of nesting. This will be the 2nd time one of my girls have layed eggs. The first time I wasnt aware of it and the eggs drowned, soooo Id like to try and be helpful with this batch if they are prego. Any advice will help. Thanks!

  • We don't have a male turtle (two females), and I'm starting to think one of them has eggs, as she has become a lot more active again. Though, that might be because it's spring, I don't know.

Anyhow, if she does have eggs, what do you suggest would be the next best action? allow her to stroll around in the garden (supervised), or put her in a large box with sand in it? Thanks!

  • @SprynxFusion Try both, but try garden first so you dont spend any money.

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins Thanks, I'm going to try that then. I'll have to wait for the weather to improve, I don't think turtles like cold grass, or cold ground for that matter. :)

  • lol she pee'd on your hand lol... wait, mine does too =(....

  • how many egg red eared slider turtle lay

  • @22monsterpiolocampos they can lay usually around 10-20eggs

  • how many turtles do u have dude

  • at around wat age do red eared sliders usually have eggs? and do they reproduce without sex?

  • @SteevLao females usually start laying eggs around 3-5years old. They can sometime lay infertile eggs even though they are never in contact with a male

  • how to know if a turtle wants to lay egg? what sight do we see?

my turtle is a red slider and her shell glow a big red U shaped what does it mean?

    thanks for reply

  • i dont actually understand you.

  • wait so males can lay eggs too? o.O if it is that is awakward

  • did you buy her pregnat? or did you breed her

  • @everydaysaholiday82 so came prego

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins okay. you should see my baby concentric DBT. the video is loading right now so look in an hour or two. HE'S SO TINY!!!

  • that turtle is beautiful!! i think my res is ready for nesting will you please look at my video.

  • but the one with the smallest claws really gets angry when i take (het i guess) up. i hope (she) has eggs :)

  • my turtles wont let me put my finger in there ;s

  • Sorry for the spelling of my last comment. IRS hard to type on a iPod touch. I ment she just laid a egg.

  • Hey my res just lady down eggs what should I do now to keep the eggs going? Are the eggs supposed to be hard? Or soft?

  • @mrcool1990 turtle eggs are the softest the first 48hours then slightly harden, in res their eggs they never become fully hard like chicken eggs. Where did she lay the eggs?

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins she layed it in another tank filled with the zoomed tank dirt.

  • I have a female RES. no male. can she still have unfertilized eggs? should I still be worrying about a nesting area?

  • @imapurplewolf she can but i wouldnt worry to much, if she does produce eggs, she will just lay them in the water. She might never produce eggs. not worth the trouble getting a nesting area

  • can u break the eggs doing this?

  • @Bix115 nope

  • @DiamondbackTerrapins I cant find the comment button but i caught my turtle digging a whole in the bottom of my turtle tank in the rocks she acts very unrestless and is very afraid of me? i have vids of my res and can make an up to date one if needed....

  • @TheCptnSQUASH i looked at your turtle, it is too small to have eggs yet.

  • can u break the egg while doing that touching way were u feel around?

  • hey man great vid and info. i hope ur turtle eggs come out fertile. good luck!

  • hey did ur diamondback grow that fast?!?!?!?!!?

  • @SupraNirvana im sure you watched the other video lol, its a new one

  • congrats!

  • My pastel is almost as large as the DBT in this video.

How high does the incubation temperature have to be to produce pastels? I get at least 70 eggs from 1 female RES each year, and RES hatchlings don't make me much money. Maybe I should turn the temperature up a bit :)

  • @BlaineHeggie hmm tell you the truth i have no idea how high you have to experiment. I know doing this you have very high chance all eggs will die or get major deformities in shell. That why perfert pastals are so rare

  • Thanks, I've been using that method since you showed us how to do in on your E.painted turtle. It really gives me the heads up. LOVE your DBT.

Question, do you know anything about Pastel RES? Are they sterile? My female Pastel RES will not breed with RES or YBS. Any info about that?

  • @BlaineHeggie How big is the pastal res? Well to get pastal you incubate the eggs at very high temperatures, so who know knows what is going inside it. Alot of pastals die before adulthood. So it could be sterile.

  • my female turtle used to always be in water and shes always basking is this good?

  • @Bix115 sounds good to me

  • hey i like all your new turtles! i think I want to get another one. I just have my juvenille eastern painted.. a little over 4 inches. I was interested in a diamondback. what are you planning on doing with her hatchlings? also not sure about if you have any advice about putting a new turtle in with the one I have. thanks.

  • @sjellybean89 sell some. I will let my youtube fans know if im sellign them. First she has to lay them and then hopefully they hatch!
