I agree this is the best 10 minutes I ever saw in a movie

2 things wrong with Kane - the News on the March is too long and alot of the film is a hatchet job on Kane;s untalented mistress......we get she is a hack but he loves her and will spend a tonne of money on her.....that part of the film is too laboured.....otherwise a wonderful epic flick with amazing visuals.

The great part of this scene is the innovation of it. It's been replicated in so many movies. Oliver Stone's Nixon has a scene that is pretty much a identical copy of this. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

when there weren't televisions they had newsreels which were shown before the movies and they were much like a documentary

its used on this filme to tell us kanes's story

thompson's boss (i think he's his boss) sends him to investigate rosebud because he thought the documentary was very loose
