  • Is this train real,or is it a toy train?

  • what gauge is that G scale?

  • 32mm gauge scale of 16mm/ft, not Gscale. The railway was demolished a year ago when I sold the house.

  • Hello New Zeeland, I remember nicely your country ! Greeting from Swiss.

  • Good to hear that, thank you.

  • Great little video of perhaps the biggest megatrain I've seen on a garden railway. Nice one.

    My condolences for your friend.

  • sweet, very impressive indeed! i'd love a train like that in my garden. awesome video.

  • I don't understand what you mean. Obviously these are models as I said in the introduction. Hope you enjoyed the video.

  • Does he want us to know this is a TOY train?

  • How many locomotive do you have now?

  • First of all, I'm sorry about your friend. Second, that is such an awesome set up in your backyard! Third, if that was me I would want to keep his trains.

  • @Taipei127 Thanks for you thoughts and compliments. (I did purchase some of my friends vehicles, you can see some of them on other vids.) P

  • R.I.P for your friend!

    My deepest sympathy!

    Greta train!

  • @LSZocker2009

    Thanks for your comment.

  • that's a lot of weight for such a small engine. really shows the workmanship of the supplier.

  • 35 pieces of rolling stock?? O_O

  • HOW COME I CAN'T POESE IT

  • what you count? 34, 35? No 36 is right.

  • I agree and yes I do still run it when I can. However, latterly Merlin produced some real dogs of locos. This was one of those and has had much attention and correction work done on it to get it to the current state.

Shame Merlin couldn't produce as consistently as Accucraft now do. The hobby has changed so much in recent years eh?

  • Merlin made some lovely engines, do you still own and run it ?

  • Well done!

    I counted 35 wagons/coaches.

  • im very sorry for your friends death

    R.I.P ur friend

    :(

  • Thanks for your thoughtfulness. It was back in 2004 when that happened. Cheers ... Paul

  • thats ok :D

  • soo....u kept the rollingstock or gave it away?

  • I sold more than half of it on behalf of the deceased estate - though I did purchase some of the more favourite or useful pieces. Who needs so much rolling stock?

    Cheers, Paul

  • it's terrible to see how much money some people have oO

    :D

  • I know you were joking but all but 4 of those vehicles were hand made - even those that look like kits were hand made - it's the most rewarding way of modelling. Hope you enjoyed the video. :o)

  • gauge?

  • 32mm (1.25") scaled at 1:19 (16mm:ft)

  • wow how couldthat little steam train pull 34 cars!!!!

  • well you've seen it doing it ... :o)

  • i thought the same thing

  • wow the engine could not even pull that train

  • I guess you mean a full sized one couldn't pull that much. Probably true though this was filmed pulling on a slight down-grade as there are a number of curves on my line, including one reverse curve that is cruel on the locomotive. Good fun though, eh?

  • Nice tribute!

  • ooo man i drank to much water

  • Real nice train, the garden or back yard is a nice realistic setting.

  • Thanks, also I don't have to spend an age making model buildings and can focus on either the railway or the garden.

  • nice vid m8 i tought it was real until you got the over head view

  • 34 cars!

  • wonderful. your friend would be proud.

  • lol, talk about the Little Engine That Could!

  • nice train BTW did i saw barrels on the flat car lol

  • Nice model train

  • If you did a double header, I bet it would go round unaided!

  • Is that in your garden?

if so it looks like a cool feature to add to any garden :)

  • my son and i liked it

  • Cool, long train. Could you do a video with 'Betty' and the red coaches please?

  • Sorry, no can do. I've sold the red and blue coaches to an Aussie modeller along with some other of the stock.

  • Never mind!

  • bloody hell

  • Great Video, Nice Engine & Railway, But Who Left That Dropside Down On One Of The Freight Cars, Looks A Bit Dangerous With Those UnSecured Drums?, Keep Up The Good Work.

  • Poor safety code, eh? I actually noticed it was down after the first run-past but left it that way for the sake of continuity as each shot was rather demanding on the loco and the cameraman.

  • Sorry one more question what guage is this set? Thanks

  • The gauge is 32mm. The trucks are all 4-wheelers, less tendency to tip on the curves. A bogie raises the centre of gravity and the tendency of vehicles to 'straight-line' on tight curves unless coupled on the bogie (problem will be reduced not eliminated). Each vehicle weighs about half a pound and this also helps. Weighted bogies would help too.

  • Very well done. I have a few questions to ask someone can you tell me how much i can pick up a live steam engine and where from. Also HOw do you stop all the carrages from falling over when they enter a corner as i always have that problem. Many thanks

  • First port of call for this stuff has to be: 16mm dot org dot uk for info and also groups dot yahoo dot com (search 16mmngm) to ask questions of those who model in this scale. They're a friendly bunch.

  • I'm impressed! not only impressive pulling power on the part of the loco, but very nicely filmed, really moving.

  • it looks so real and cool. A nice thing to do for your friend..

  • simply one of the best things you do all the time

  • wow, lovley little beast u got there lol. beautiful engine, wish i had one.... or five lol.

    rhysicus

  • Impressive loco! I wish I could get my L&BR "Yeo" to pull trains that big,(though my railway wouldnt be long enough!) you must have had to resort to paperclip couplings though, thats alot of 3 link chains!?!

  • Thanks. The whole train was using 3 link couplings but all vehicles were 4-wheelers, the bogie vehicles tipped on the curves. Your 'Yeo' may be able to do the same, the chance to try is the hard part.

  • I wish i could get an oo9 Scale model of LNWR ''King of Prussia''

and make it pull three yellow coaches,2 green trucks,a gaurds van,

    4 Eletrical trolleys and more.

  • Pretty awesome the hauling power of the loco

  • My Goodness. That little engine pulled that train. Wow. I always though Live Steamers like that wren't very strong. That changed my line of thought. And I'm sorry about your friend too. You should have kept the stock as a memorandum of him. My grandfather gave me his trains and I plan to keep them forever. He isn't dead, but when he does pass away, I will keep them

  • Thanks. I have retained some of those vehicles for posterity but sold the rest on behalf of his widow. I appreciate your thoughts. Paul

  • once again,a nice railway? It amazing how much tractive effort that steamer has!

  • Thanks, yes when they run well they can certainly amaze. With a novelty load this long starting is the challenge. The loco starts out fairly well as it opens the couplings and starts each vehicle individually but eventually will stall with the weight. It was neccessary to assist the startup about halfway along the train (35 vehicles) to avoid this stall but once rolling the lokey could keep it rolling, though struggling round the tight curves.

  • Yep, RC live steam, gas fired 1:19 scale. Keeps me out of mischief! :)

  • excellent! radio controlled live steam?
