  • From 1:24 on you can hear the melody of the German love song "Oh, wie ist's möglich denn" ("O, how it's possible then, that I could leave you?"). Which words are sung to this melody in America and whatt's the name of this song in the USA?

  • I don't know the composer of this march, but it is NOT J. P. Sousa!

  • One middie with a YouTube account.

  • written by Philip Egner and Alfred Parham - not Sousa

  • The Greatest Military Song ever....

    Beat Navy New Cadets!

    93, Defenders of the Free...

  • The Greatest Military Song ever....

  • @ValleyVikings2010

Go to Navy, sink the tankers, and Air Force without fuel is like cryin childs! ;-)

  • Hell yeah.........Go Army.....i'd prefer marines though

  • "I'm mister gung ho, I get a dress off where ever I go, I shine my B plate-quill on my room mate, I go to chapel twice on Sundays. I beleive in the haze and every night I recite the days, and I'll go Infantry just to say; 'follow me', won't you call me mister gung ho!!" (I thought this was the correct lyrics to the trio!!) I guess I had it wrong!!

  • Reminds me of a many pass and review...oh the years of being a cadet in those parades

  • This magnificent march was composed in 1927 by Lt. Philip Egner. The lyrics to the famous trio by Alfred H. Parham (USMA 1928) are below. A rousing rendition but I prefer a slower tempo. West Point, at thy call, Thy sons arise in honor to thee. May thy light shine ever bright, Guide thy sons aright, In far-off lands or distant seas. Thy name first above all, Thru all the years thy motto we will bear; We thy sons as we fight, May we strike for the right, Alma Mater, ever for thee.
  • Liar! this was composed by Phillip Egner!!

  • Shall I say it?

    GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!

  • One of the most epic army marching songs there is. The army these days just doesn't remember its heritage...West Point is really the only place where it is properly preserved, and even there the Corps has gone to hell...

  • Very exciting, does kinda get you crunk!

  • It's actually The Official West Point March. It wasn't written by John Phillip Sousa, it was composed by Phillip Egner while serving as a West Point staff officer.

  • Great march, gets you FIRED UP!!!
