  • what is the point in performing this music nowadays? god so boring

  • @MrStopthebullshit perhaps you should stop your own bullshit! if you don't like this music, please stay away from it... what's the point of performing other music? everyone his genre!

  • @tommieboy1657 if you don't like my comments, you also stay away from them too! I have every right to say that all this repertoire is just a waste of space. In fact it's because of people such as yourself who are glued to this pointless ridiculous repertoire that classical music is in the dumps. I bet the thought hasn't even occurred to you...

  • @MrStopthebullshit As I said before: de coloribus et gustibus non disputandum est.

And in fact, it is not because of people like me, but only because of people like you, who won't give it a chance, and who don't think classical music hasn't anything to offer. I can only say that classical music is an enrichment to my life, an enrichment that isn't in any way 'in the dumps'. But you're right. I should stop wasting my time to your pointless comments. Have a nice day.

  • @tommieboy1657 I was too fast in my reply: who don't think classical music hasn't anything to offer: 'hasn't' has to be 'has', otherwise it doesn't make sense what I'm saying.

  • Although her voice is not as fresh as in her youth, at this point Sutherland's diction had improved and she is more dramatically involved than usual. She did this a year earlier (staged) in Canada and that is also on YouTube with the same Giovanni (mezzo). The Smeaton (she is terrific!) and Percy (Jerry Hadley) are better here, but the Enrico in Canada is better (James Morris!). Sutherland is also a bit more dramatically involved version but she is also very good here. Great to have both!

  • 52:09 : Oops, Joan missed her queue! Shows even the very best are human!

  • @ChrisStockslager It's doubtful she missed her queue. Watch the top D at the end of Guidici ad Anna - she does the same, delaying the note by a second. It was a weird thing she sometimes did.

  • @gustopheles I think she was just catching a breath on the D. There's too much of a space after the top C -- I think she momentarily spaced. Haha. Although that high D is probably her best post-1980, I think on the whole this performance isn't as well-performed as her 1984 Vancouver performance. :)

  • Love Richard Bonynge!
