  • I'm so glad real punk bands are still around singing about things that are meaningful as opposed to the other shit bands that just sing about their girlfriends and how much they think their lives suck.

  • I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER, THERE'S NO POINT TO SURRENDER! HWM Plug What?

  • I saw them when i was much younger in venues which didn't have a stage. When i saw them in akron they were as much part of the pit as performing. I spent a long time thinking of them as sellouts. But now i'm a damned adult and as long as their politics have changed, im fine with them changing. I think this is a badass performance. Although last time i saw them everybody up front was trying to get them to play "Nah Nah Nah" to no avail. that was a bummer

  • Always lots of debate on these vids about punk being dead. pfft. There are loads of punk bands around. They are just playing and putting on shows in shitty venues to 20 people, probably just scraping enough together for petrol from their shitty part time jobs. And thats why I love it

  • I don't think anything that came out after 1980 is to be considered punk. Punk was a movement, not a genre. Just like new wave and grunge.

  • don't believe in commenting negative things. I love Against Me!

  • now this is against me!

  • best fucking band ever!!!

  • Best backing vocals ever!

  • not being a hater but not that good, i mean its alrite as a song but sounds just like every other band.

  • @HARKE90 oh dear........you suck

  • @joel2ksweet whats ur problem u like it great i don't think i said anything too derogatory. u like cock rock ok great i understand. i don't.

  • @HARKE90 cock rock? dont comment on something you clearly know nothing about

  • @joel2ksweet shut up and stop commenting if u read my first comment did i say anything that bad, it was just my opinion. let me live in peace now, u win ok.

  • @HARKE90 what other band?

  • wow just because they are finally getting their name out there doesnt mean thery re sell outs!

    Dont be jealous people

    They are amazing :)

  • @chellygrace22 That's exactly what it is too. Jealousy. Pathetic people who live shitty boring lives and what great bands to be their little unknown pet that other people don't know about so that they can feel like their taste in music is "unique" and "underground." If you don't like their new sound, fair enough. I would somewhat agree. But the whining about being on TV or a label that can actually pay them what they deserve is sad and reeks of small-minded envy.

  • @edizzidydawg couldnt have said it better myself

  • If a "punk fan" thinks that you sell out when you get on tv their tarded. Cause the first rule of selling out is doing music that you hate in order to please the masses and make a paycheck..... I've hung out with these guys and they love the music that they make. So if they like the music that they are making, whether or not the mass public likes it or not it doesn't matter, and can make a living doing the kind of music they enjoy making then they are truly punk rock!!! Case closed!!!

  • once you get on tv you know youve sold out in the punk world!!!!

  • @thepearljamfan

Really? So when the Dead Kennedys and The Clash were on tv, they were selling out?

  • @thepearljamfan Fuck the "punk world." The idea of a punk scene or punk world is stupid and childish. Write music you like and get it out to new audiences for them to enjoy. And god forbid you should be able to afford to take care of your family and have a nice life for yourself after doing a grueling months-long international tour. As far as the "punk scene," Propagandhi says it best with the lyrics "fuck your stupid scene, your shitty zine, the straw men you build up to burn."

  • @thepearljamfan Not at all! it depends on why your on TV if a punk band is playing thier music thier own way uncensored and it happens to be on TV who the fuck cares people who say thats selling out are just dumb

  • @thepearljamfan stop talking about punk like you know what it is.

  • love love love this song is epic seen these guys afew times live frenkn epic

  • what hot water music song was that at the end?

  • @kaiserslautern05 turnstyles

  • @kaiserslautern05 sorry, the spelling is turnstile

  • Going to see these guys tonight... Gonna be great!

  • they will come to finland this summer!!! great!!

  • so badass.

  • @Matlike1 I meant apart.

  • and what led you to this idea? everyone else seems to think so, so you joined their opinions about them selling out and how they should play their old EP, and RAR cuz those were the only good ones? you change as you grow up. look what they did, they grew up, so their sound changed with them.

  • Haha such a funny song for them to play live, the lyrics are political as all hell and I love how they call out Condeleza Rice

  • Comment removed

  • take them seriously. They make a living playing music. they are on live tv show. What else do you want?

  • Comment removed

  • most of the kids in the audience were singing along. not very unappreciative to me.

  • @BossMediaChannel So we should take any band seriously who makes a living and plays on tv? Does that include hanson and the backstreet boys? Tool

  • @BossMediaChannel some fuckin nachos

  • Don't know about that.. I saw Secret Machines on Letterman doing "Nowhere Again" and was blown away.. went out and got the album.. had never even heard of them before..

  • Album- Americans Abroad?

  • yea they released a live album..americans abroad live in london..or something like that

  • it says it....live from gainsville

  • Nah Americans Abroad was recorded in the UK. What Jimmy is saying here is "...their new cd Americans Abroad. From Gainsville Florida, Against Me!"

  • What Song Is This?

  • He said it- From Her Lips to God's Ears (the energizer)

  • from her lips to god's ears (the energeizer)

  • I love them so much.

  • i can imagine the band getting ready and one guy sais "hey lets all wear black t-shirts" and then the drummers just like " FUCK IT im wearing a fucking tank top"

  • do you have any idea how much a drummer sweats? especially in a situation like that. i'd wear a tank top too!

  • AM rox..kimmel sux.

  • the cycle is a pipe bomb

  • this bike is a pipebomb you fucking retard fake faggot

  • Yeah, buddy. You!

  • even i know that and i've never even listened to the band dude...

  • good performance

  • anarchism would never work. too many people want power. get over it

i love punk and the idea of anarchy and it bums me out to say the truth but it will never work

  • we can atleast try to make things better

better then doing nothing considering the rest of society isnt stoping anytime soon

  • Libertarian socialism, or democratic socialism for the win;) But most most punk bands don't get that into it.. or don't know enough. Either way, I see it as more about frustration and a desire for change, be it often ill guided. It's when it turns into a social identity with a set doctrine that it gets messy.

  • i agree anarchy doesn't work by it's self.. but it's a cycle .. like life goes to death.. construction to destruction.. Government goes to Anarchy and then back again.. life is just a big cycle.

  • respeck man. anarchy sounds badass and its fun to talk but in the real world it could never work

  • I agree about pure anarchy, but democratic socialism is pretty damn close to anarchy. its really the only feasible means of anarchy. the government stays completely out of everyones lives and levels the playing field and promotes true equality of result, not equality of opportunity proposed by the right. obama is a democratic socialist... the GOP just leaves the democratic part out when they describe him. Americans are so afraid of the word socialism. oh no! the socialists are coming! please.

  • Communism does have a higher authority or hierarchy that dictates things. The wealth is spread amongst the people, but the people aren't the ones dictating that.

  • Do you know anything about communism?

All the leninist and meoist states around have nothing to do with communism.

Remember that communism aims for a country without a state.

"When there is a state, there will be no freedom. When there is freedom, there will be no state" - Lenin

  • GOOD GOD these guys are freeking incredible live.

  • fuckin awsome i love this band thier my second fav band rise against is

  • Against Me! is so wicked!

  • whaow... they screem pretty much... :S

  • I KNOW! Isnt it awesome?? =D

  • anybody know what song this is

  • From Her Lips To God's Ears

  • he kind of said it in the beginning of the video...

  • Anarchy wont work in a country like the United States. Like seriously - the crime rate would quadruple in seconds. People would die every where. There is to many idiots and assholes for a thing like Anarchy. Its a great idea to have Anarchism. But not in the States.

  • That's not necessarily true. The people who would try to slack off or pull bullshit will quickly realize that without a government to give them handouts they'll have to pull their own weight.

Plus, in an anarchist society goods and services would be distributed equally so no one would really have the need to commit crimes.

  • no dude, you're talking about communism.

  • Most anarchists are communists

  • I'm pretty sure that communism is the exact opposite to anarchism in every way man...

  • No it isn't. Explain why you believe that communism is the "exact opposite to anarchism in every way."

  • Anarchism in its simplest form means "No Rule". Meaning no authority or state whatsoever in a political sense.

Communism in the Karl Marxist sense is the opposite because it needs a central dominating and forceful authority to facilitate the control and distribution of possessions.

Albeit "fair" and "democratic", it is still a domineering and authoritative regime which by definition is in stark contrast to anarchy even though the good intentions and hatred for capitalism are shared by both.

  • "Communism in the Karl Marxist sense"

Basically, you're saying that Marxism and Anarchism are more or less opposites, which is true.

But keep in mind that many (if not all) Anarchists strive to build a classless, stateless society as much as Marxists do, but without the bureaucratic, authoritarian bullshit that you pointed out tends to develop in Marxist regimes.

  • Anarchy means "no hierarchy", not "no rule". Anarchism is rule by the people without masters. This is pretty much the same thing as council communism.

Communism does not necessarily imply a centralized state. That is one part of Marxist theory, the theory that lenin went along with, but that does not mean all communism is as such. Communism and anarchism are not inherently opposed nor are they opposites.

  • Well done sir.

  • You are the biggest fucking idiot... Wow... Just wow

  • Explain.

  • i kinda agree its true there are also too many people with guns, it might not work immeditly but mabye from the inside out small communities that expand, or a revolution

  • i'm energized

  • i know, i'm fist pumping like crazy. fuck!

  • i saw them in nyc last week. everyone bummed rush the stage for we laugh at danger. it was possibly the most punk rock thing i have ever seen. they are great. new wave is a good album and the songs sound awesome live.

  • i saw them a couple of weeks ago in boston, their last song was we laugh at danger, and everyone rushed the stage, one guy got on stage and security came from both sides, he jumped into the crowd and we cought him it was amazing

  • ya i was at that show 2. so good dude

  • i could care less about what label theyre on. good for them for making good money. against me sucks because their new music sounds like shit.

  • Whaaat.

Against Me! are still fucking savage too this day

and don't give me that "they sold out" crap

Boo on them for making a living out of their music

  • wasnt it on the album searching for a former clarity? -Mike

  • I would kill myself for this band. I bow before my gods.

  • This song gives me the goosebumps, every time I watch it. Every time.

  • I know how you feel. The song does that to me too. :)

  • Great song.

Tom Gabel looks like Shevchenko, the football player.

  • whats the name of this songggg?

  • From Her Lips To God's Ears (The Energizer). Jimmy also says it at :06.

  • They're not anarchists because they grew up. Honestly, only petulant children claim to be anarchist anymore. He's smart enough and politically savvy enough to realize that anarchy is ridiculous, in every sense of the word.

  • i guess that's why he sings "Baby, I'm an anarchist"?

  • Anarchism > You.

  • You're ridiculous to assume that you know why he writes what he does. What makes anarchy ridiculous anyways? It's not such a bad form of government, seems to work quite well for the 'mericans and many other failed states around the globe. In fact, if given the choice, I would take anarchy over a dictatorship or a communism any day. Hell, if I lived in the states I'd probably still take the anarchy.

  • anarchy- a state of society without government or law

    you fail

  • Wow, you have the most basic understanding of anarchy, did you look that definition up on google? Or did you simply rely on your deep and vast knowledge of the English language? Either way, I really like how you said I failed, without really stating why or how. It's alright though, I would imagine that you can't take too much time away from studying the fine and complex art of douchebaggery to debate things that are of such a quimsical nature. Thanks for making the attempt though.

  • lol

since you seem to have missed the obvious...

you failed because you said that anarchy isn't a bad form of government

it's not government, it's the absence of government, and i figured you should become a little bit more educated about anarchy.

also, you can't debate things of a "quimsical nature," mainly because "quimsical" isn't a word...

  • dayum. owned.

  • Quimsical is a word, dick. You're wrong, "Anarchy" is not defined as the absence of a government, although that can lead to it. In reality, it is a state where whatever system the people used to determine what is right, and what is wrong, has failed. This can occur with, or without government.

  • Anarchy-A state of society without rules, law, regulation and chaos. Just to make it clear, what its saying is, there isn't chaos.

  • not all anarchy is bad

its a system without government ya dip

    jesus christ

  • I love the HWM at the end :]

  • when i hear against me fans bitch about the new album and change in the band i always wonder if they've seen the band live recently. cause ive seen them on their past 2 tours and they played just as energetic as they did the first time i saw them years ago. not to mention last time i saw them they played 5 songs off of reinventing axl rose.

  • it has to do with the fact that they are no longer anarchists, not their energy during live shows.

  • *facepalm*

good music is good music. When people get into politics of a band and base hate off of that i just have to ask myself "What ever happened to loyal fans?"

  • the whole anarchism thing was only really a phase tom had i think. though he says he is still an anarchist, hes grown out of the whole "fuck the system" thing. baby im an anarchist was kinda mocking extremists... well i think so anyway. :)

  • ^

    I agree.

  • No, "Baby, I'm an Anarchist" is a song mocking liberals from an anarchist perspective.

  • holy shit, against me are usually awesome live but this is even more awesome

  • this is my favorite Against Me! Song. Great performance. Would love to see them live one day.

  • yeah right, tom is so beast. he goes all out every performance! Against me is beast!!

  • god damn. Tommy's really screamin the shit out of this one. which is kind of a rarity these days lol

  • Does anyone know what kind of amplifier Tom uses?

  • I think he uses an orange ad30

  • does it matter? haha

  • what the hell is wrong with success? if id been workin my ass off for 15 years, doin the stuff i love but having to eat lima beans for lunch everyday id jump at the chance if nike wanted to use one of my songs! more opportunities to get new people to hear my songs? hell yeah! they shouldnt have to play in toilets forever, they have massive songs that the WORLD should hear. WOO!

  • finding success with your music is one thing.

changing it because of success is another.

  • What is wrong with change? Change is a result of growth and age. These aren't bad things. Are you into the same stuff you were into 2, 5, 10 years ago?

  • it depends on how they changed it i think the new stuff is good but i kinda like the older a bit better but there still both good. the bad kind of changing music is anti-flag, who wewnt from hardcore political punk to poppy shit

  • Yeah, I hadn't really heard the new Anti-Flag stuff, but from what my friends who had heard it tell me, it doesn't sound like I'm really missing much.

  • I was there too.

  • haha thats soo awesome they started playing pints of guiness. wish it was on camera

  • against me! is one of the only bands that can back up their studio stuff with their live performance... so freakin good...

  • What? Wait. What?! Is it because they progressed? I mean, no matter how great it was and is, it would be kinda boring if they made Reinventing Axl Rose three times, wouldn't it? I love Searching For A Former Clarity, probably even more than Reinventing Axl Rose, and New Wave isn't bad at all! But I guess it is a matter of opinion, and if you like the older, punkier stuff, that's cool :)

  • There's a difference between progression and selling out.

  • Very true. By my definition, to sell out would be to compromise one's art, for wealth or fame, or whatever. And that's something I can't see Against Me! doing in a million years.

  • How about allowing a heartless, multinational corporation (nike) to use their art for advertisement?

  • How was Against Me! involved with Nike? I totally agree with you about Nike, and I would have a big problem with them working together.

  • A song off their new album is featured on a Converse commercial, Converse was bought by Nike a few years ago.

  • Oh, was it one of those "we're legit punk rock" ads?

  • well the thing with that is that the label likely has the majority of the publishing rights so that they can use those songs to promote whatever they'd like. It's not like they're Led Zeppelin and have 100% of the rights to their music. It's one of the drawbacks with going to the majors. A plus is that their music reaches more ears and can open more eyes to their message.

  • better than yours

  • No, my last two albums pretty much ruled.

  • what son is this that they are singing. its not americans abroad..?

  • From her lips to god's ears (The Engergizer)

  • From Her Lips to God's Ears (The Energizer)

  • awesome preformence! one thier best songs. one of the best concerts ever

  • THIS IS ONE OF THERE BEST SONGS

  • hope they come back to winnipeg canada soon so i can die in the mosh pit again!! Rock on!

  • My friend Matt K sounds exactly like Tom Gabel.

  • against me! are so amazing. tom gabel has such a powerful voice and it gives me the shivers

  • God they fucking rule.

  • skittles you hit it on the head

  • crunge91 is talking about Green Day, you guys are talking about AM!.

Either way green day sucks, so theres no point in continuing the conversation.

  • against me! isn't anywhere close to as sell out (if they even are) than green day. their hometown won't even let them in to play shows anymore. that's a sell out.

  • what are you talking about... they're playing at the common grounds august 19th.

    moron.

  • oh shit i had no clue. that's what someone told me. well, i thought there hometown was cool but i guess not.

  • crunge, im from naples lol. they play here alot. and they're always here. so think before you talk.

  • dude i did think. i was told that by a friend who i thought actually knew something about fucking green day sorry guys chill out.

  • How can anyone say anything bad about this band? They are one of the few good things left in music today.

  • Skittles234 is right!

  • my favorite part of this video = Turnstile at the end.

  • Toms Voice Sounds great!

    Nice vid fo sho.

  • CONDOLEEZA!

  • gas money .. HA .. put on a show for these money grubbers they played 6 songs and walked away with 3500 plus buy out and beer
