There is a reason non organic and non-free range eggs and meats are cheap: The animals pay the price that you are "saving".
It takes money to keep cages spacious and somewhat comfortable (or better yet, cage free), the animals clean and healthy, and the feed high quality. That money the large companies save, in turn, is the money you save, along with the fillers, preservatives, and imported foods they use.
The disgusting egg farms that produced the salmonella infested eggs (August, 2010) was also investigated for rape and sexual abuse of their workers. Cruelty begets cruelty.
heloo, i want to visit a chicken farm, and i live in ST Louis Missouri. so would you please recommended me where i can find a chicken farm to visit ? the other thing i am looking for a textbook for college student with more picture about chicken farm. thanks for your time.
The battery cages are ghastly! Yet even "free-range" hens have their beaks cut off, and the male chicks are routinely suffocated or ground up alive. "Organic" and "free-range" does little to save birds. Just quit eating eggs. They're full of cholesterol anyway. We don't need eggs and cornstarch, banana or Ener-G can be used in baking as a sub for eggs. Try scrambled tofu with turneric instead of scrambled eggs. Grains, veggies and fruits are the most healthful foods and don't hurt any animals.
humans have NOT been like this for thousands or even a hundred years. Eggs used to be gotten "the old-fashioned way" which was more humane. Problem is the industrialization of our food industry. Great book, The Omnivore's Dilemma, clarifies. There ARE egg brands that do not raise their hens this way (Azuluna is the one I buy) and they usually taste far better than the standard brands. Some consumers are too lazy, illiterate, callous and cheap to even care about their own health.
jaja this is just a part of being human we have been like this for thousands of years and we are not gonna stop because some people feel bad this what these chickens were raised for they werent intended to be out in the wild at least not these kinds of chickes you dont see no fatass chickens in the wild hell no no fucking way so just kick back and enjoy a blunt of some Kush and a kfc bucket mmmmmmm
Carlitros105, Its SCUM like you in this world thats the problem. the world should not let you reproduce with your rotten seed, your a fucking parasite like most of this world. I bet your fat as fuck with all that KFC, a slow death my man, hope you love artificial growth hormones with your food.
well said 7milesoldier maybe carlitros105 shud be put in one of those cages for a year and see how he likes it with all the other fat ass's. im not a vegetarian but i believe that animals should have a good life too, that is why i have just got 6 chickens, to raise on total free range and when theyre oldermaybe eat them but at least theyve had a good life.
Ya it doesn't hurt to give them a little room, this is pretty sad they sell these hens to the stores for like 2 dollars a hen after all that feeding and raising, probably even less, I only buy free range eggs, hopefully those hens are actually free range- a little happier I think.
i think it's just too sad, my chickens get to run and pick bugs, chase each other and have a ball outside, they live the life compared to those poor souls in the cages!
omg that is disusting - cant spell soz, we av chickens and they are kept in the free range of our massive garden i cant believe ppl can do that 2 defencless creatures cutting their beaks too is horrible
Thanks for your comment. I agree, this cruelty is horrible and unfortunately it's kept out of sight so not many people are aware of it. Please help spread the word!
