A normal music sheet is very unfortunately something too many of us who have been intrested in music do not know how to formally read. Some of us make our own scales, though we know the symbols. The good thing about music is if you have a good ear, you can play by ear. When you know where the keys are, you can play whatever's on your mind, going by the keys. Music defies all language, it truly does.
@samweller96 Yeah, I addressed that issue in the video description, in comment replies to other users, and even fixed it in my revised transcription... gotta remember that retro video game music was never originally intended to be played by humans, which is why that kind of stuff tends to happen. If you're looking for an actually-usable transcription, though, then go to the revised video instead, in the video responses section.
watching the music fly by and seeing the very intricate way it was composed makes me wish more modern video games had this kind of music and with the technology we have today, OH MAH GAWD, we can have REAL orchestras, bands, and choirs playing this, but instead many games rely on simple music or FX sound effects with no real soundtrack that can compare to something like this :/ not many modern games have something like this
NICE JOB HATCH! but pls could u make a printable version and a version for big band? so much here, i do too, want that. so it would be very cool if you would make that.
Interesting... You have the strings and winds going too low though, oboe doesn't play well lower then a D but can go down to Bb, Bassoon goes down to Bb, Violins Down to G, Violas and Cellos down to C
I hate how it ends on that note, it makes me think it's going to go on, but when it stops, I wanna slap my computer because I think Youtube's bein slow xD.
Hey hatch890, I don't remember if you can do this or not in finale but in Sibelius you can use grace notes instead of the 32nd note stuff in the oboe and pretty much throughout the score. No it doesn't change the sound, but if you were to hand that to a professional oboist they'd look at it and be like "uh... yeah no". It's small things that make scores actually playable by real people.
Anyway good work, this is coming from a guy who makes a living off of compositions
Amazing work, but i have just one comment. I would make the mallet part a little louder, it's hard to hear when the oboe and mallets have the melody; the oboe is overpowering it.
@Cesaz05 On the other hand, the computer is also playing notes impossible for a human with a real oboe to do =p
And yes, this program is called Finale NotePad. You can write all the notes to a song down in it similar to Notessimo and then play it, and it gives the electronic playback you see in this video. It used to be a free program, but now costs $10... I wish they wouldn't have done that =(
@TheThermalheat The G# in the 9th measure, as well as every note that goes below the second ledger line in measures 12 - 15. Bb underneath the staff is the lowest an oboe can play, so anything below that is humanly undoable. On the other hand, it IS doable with an English horn, which can play the E 4 spaces under the staff, and I am in the middle of revising this to make it actually playable. Hopefully it won't take much longer
also; I noticed that the bassoon part goes down to an F way below the staff. I would like to point out that this is physically impossible on the bassoon; the lowest note a bassoon can play is a Bb below the staff (and sometimes an A).
I just have to say, great job on all of the transcriptions! I also enjoy transcribing songs on finale, but I am not good or fast at making them. you have my subscription for sure.
Amazing videos friend! I am hoping you take requests? I would LOVE to see the underwater theme from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES game. I have always loved that song and would be very interested in seeing your attempt at reproducing it. In any case, Cheers on the excellent ears you have.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! THERE AREN'T ANY VIOLAS IN THIS SONG!!!! WHY?!?!? WHY?!?! I play the viola and there are hardly any songs made specifically and/or dedicated to the viola!
Could you do this arrangement with a "high school" band? Saxophones, trumpets, percussion, clarinets, flutes, an oboe, and some low brass. No strings. Or would that leave empty holes in the music?
Why can't we hear the mallets ? Or is it just me ?
Is there a place to download it, I have Finale Notepad and I would like to transpose it for playing it on clarinet. I don't want to copy this from a video it will be freaking long. ^^" I know it will hard with my instrument, but I like challenges.
Sorry, my english is far from perfect. I want to tranpose this sheet for clarinet. But, I would like to have a link for a download. With that, I could be able to transpose it with more ease, because I have a version of Finale Notepad. Then it will be easier for me to play. ^^" I hope that it can be understood.
I'm working on a easier version of this one. It will be very easy. Played alone, it is exactly the same melody... But you can't play with this video, because it has 7# for clarinet !!! It will be like a grade 2...
I'd be willing to help you out with that. If you are willing, NotePad has a month-free trial download you could get, and then I can just send this file to you. With the trial you can copy and transpose easily, and then save / print it in sheet form.
Well I play the trombone and I was wondering if there was any site that had sheet music for this music for trombone. I love this song and rawest forest. If there is no sheet music for trombones for this music can u plz tell me wat section in this video I should follow??
The strings contain the chord progression and bassline, and the oboe and mallets contain the majority of the melody (staves 1 and 6, respectively). Although with trombone you'd have to remember the differences between treble and bass clef to read it properly... anyways, hope this helps =)
Invest 300 Bucks and buy Finale Allegro. You've got freakin talent!! I allways torture myself as soon as I try to compose such great music by myself...and you seem to do it so easy ;_;
You've got an amazing ear, this is incredible. I do have one nitpick though albeit a minor one, unless you tune down the cello...I think you have a low g octave that is below its playing range if i remember correctly. If you're going according to the SNES sounds itself than thats fine. The only reason I even picked up that at all is bc I'm working on my own arrangement of this piece. Anyways, sorry if i sound like im critising this, bc other than that its perfect.
Huh, yeah, string instruments aren't a strong point for me, so I'm not sure what's too high and what's too low for those instrument types. Although I doubt the viola is capable of hitting some notes I scribed for it... but this is due to me substituting it for an instrument I left out so I could keep it at 6 staves... not my best decision. Thanks for the criticism, though, I'm slowly getting better at this.
Ya, I really didn't mean to sound like a critical youtube viewer when I said that (Theres enough critics as it is), I really respect your ability to transcribe these. Do you cut apart the SPC to do it or do you listen to the whole mix?
I feel silly to say that I don't know what an SPC is. I take the .mp3's that are ripped straight from the game and tune my ears to and transcribe the instruments one at a time, and then put them all together in one complete file afterwards. Is it actually possible to cut the individual parts out?
yes, an SPC is a rip of the video game audio ROM. if you go to Zophars domain they have it pretty much for every SNES game. Then get an SPC player, the one i use is a winamp plugin called Alpha-II SPC player, and if you go into the file info you can actually isolate each track.
