I don't think it's exploiting anything, it was meant as a parody of the music videos that were popular at the time. There was a second advert aswell, but I can't find it anywhere :(
@shaneele What kind of idiot would pull a race card on a soft drink commercial? If they did a Rubicon Mango advert that featured Indian girls dancing to Hindi music, who fucking cares? Get over yourself please.. because in the end, people like you perpetuate the hype on prejudice and make a bigger deal then there actually is... subsequently making the world a more divided place.
@mrcaopi it's HOW they're dancing you MUG! are you telling me all carabeans dance as seductivly and raunchy as they are? (0:19) If so I think YOU'RE the one amplifying stereotypes. And also the way they are dressed with no sense of style, gold teeth, over the top eye shaddow, ridiculous weaves.- STEROTYPES!! Gosh, OPEN YOUR EYES!
@shaneele it don't matter. If Indians were bellydancing and wearing hindu dots in an advert I don't care because I'm not insecure and overly defensive. It's only stereotypical if you make a hype of it. They thought "lets give this drink an over the top funky Carribean theme" without thinking anything more if it. Chinese are cool with the Kung- Fu stereotype over played. They're not exploiting stereotypes- exploitation is an American Airlines advert about security with them searching arab actors.
I've had this song in my head since I first saw the advert years ago. Thank you for uploading this!
