i just LOVE how sephiroth takes the time to say "I dinit do dat one, look somewhere else" all vilains need to care more about the hero's opinion of them.
So you have a bossfight with a wall to prevent you from getting a Supreme MacGuffin? The Temple of the Ancients is basically one big shoutout to FFIV, isn't it?
The Demon Wall in the SNES/PSX versions of FFII/IV respectively was a pain in the balls, but apparently he was a little dumbed down in FFIV Advance and FFIV DS.
The wall boss used to own me when I was a kid haha That's because I would always be under leveled (enjoy the game more that way) and I wouldn't have anything near 2,000 hit points :/
If this is the Temple of Doom why didn't Sephiroth rip out Tseng's heart going, "Kali-ma! Kali-ma!" (or "Jenova-ma" in his case)? That would've been interesting. I doubt Cloud could wear a fedora though, with his hair...
i never used summons in this game, the animations take forever and they barely do more damage than my party after level 15. cover counter-attack on cloud, aeris in the back, red wrecking everyone.
A little tip which can help if you do not have big guard. When the Demons Gate starts waving his arms around, defend, and you will take less damage from the attack.
I'm surprized the PHS (FFVII version of a cellphone) has good signal inside the temple lol. lol at Cait Sith. Even through he was a spy and somewhat of a bastard for keeping Marlene hostage, he still is somewhat of a good guy lol
It's said at gold saucer, the cat is controlled by him from inside shinra, I have no idea why it's not made clearer that it's a human controlling a cat controlling a big moogle doll, but it is mentioned.
Check your battle speed. Typically the faster the battle speed, the fewer times you get to strike between the enemy's attacks. Laymen's terms, crank down the speed.
If you're still having trouble, you can grind a bit and make sure all of your character's have a limit break to start the battle.
If you've been keeping up with the E. Skill materia, Big Guard helps A LOT. Something to watch out for is that you DO lose some physical strength for having many materia. Being "lighter" might help.
HCballiy in the computer version if you use cids limit break the one where he picks u the enemy with his lance and you use it on the monster wall the computer crashes!!!! did you know that??!
I remember the third time through the game, I grinded my ass off and whipped Demon Gate's ass in a few rounds :) grinding in a few areas makes the game A LOT easier; no need to reset up materias etc etc
Now THIS guy is a cool Final Fantasy IV homage! And woah, he might not be as hard as back in his IV days, but he's still pure murder for the underleveled!´
And for some reason, that moment where Cait Sith trips is a real jerker for me. Don't listen to the internet, Cait! I still love you!
That wall boss is one of the nastiest in the game. I was under-leveled when I faced him and it took forever to beat him. He kept nailing me with that ice attack.
Hey, a cliffhanger with an actual cliff. How 'bout that? :D
i always end up grinding because i want a couple of master all materias in stock... but then after that, the game becomes way too easy... i've pretty much stopped grinding as well... but i may be too late... ^^;;;
I like that you touch it, and the temple shakes. Then you talk a bit, and Cloud decides to turn around and shake it again, for no apparent reason. "Guys! Check this out!" *Shakes temple in time with him stamping his feet*
Wow, you got quite lucky during that fight with the Demon's Gate. He will usually try to slam you all with Ice Attacks that hurt quite a bit. They aren't too bad, but they are more effective than the attack seen here. Although, I guess equipment that Ice immunity stuff the AI saw it and decided not to use the turns.
Always liked this scene with Cait Sith. A lot of people might not like him, but he's quite the enjoyable guy sometimes.
If Seph is strong enough to one hit kill them don't they think it's a bad idea to keep it with them? They should of just broke it lol. But them the game would end too soon XP
Just replayed it. YES, you can get into random battles before fighting the Demon Wall, in the hallway where the murals are. YES, if Cait Sith is in your party, he goes with you to fight the Demon Wall, then does his thing. Haven't checked on how Tifa reacts if you take her there.
If whoever solves the puzzle to get the black materia gets crushed by the temple why not let Sephiroth try to get it? He tries to get it and boom no more Sephiroth
Have we actually ever seen him have minions before in the game so far? I mean, those black-cloaked guys appear to have some association with Sephiroth, but we don't know for sure if they're outright minions. It still strikes me as odd that the party thinks that if they possess the Black Materia Sephiroth is less likely to get it than if it was left in the temple. Sephiroth is apparently really really strong, right? Couldn't he take it from them by force, and kill them all at the same time?
I hate it when enemies have delays like that. The worst one I've seen is the Ying/Yang in Nibelheim. That bastard rocks back and forth for like 30 seconds after I hit him with Beta, for no apparent reason. What's worse is I keep running into him at the Battle Square, and he does the same thing there, too!
I rarely use Cait Sith, but I once named him "Crack head" for the sake of this part of the game. "Don't forget me even if another Crack Head comes along" I laughed so hard. Great videos, HC!
demon wall *flash back to final fantasy 4 ds* WHAT THE FUCK THIS WALL WON'T DIE ITS GOT...HOLY SHIT 99999 HP* end flashback* bad memories you should have said something about hcbaily*
Cait Sith, we hardly knew ya. All I can say is goodbye and good riddance. It does make you feel for him a little bit there (and I do mean a little bit) because it seems as if he's realized that he can be a hero if he wants. Still, I'm not shedding any tears for him. Oh, and your cliffhangers are what keeps us coming back for more!
I loved that cliffhanger even before you made that comment at the end. This one was extra-epic because what comes next is so important. Don't miss out on the next episode of Let's Play FF7!
If as the model of the temple gets smaller you get smaller, than it wouldn't fit in your hand because you hand would also be smaller! Can someone translate Aeris's line at 1:08 into simpler English?
@ComradeSephiroth She's just using two different "you"s depending one which person you are in her example (the one in the temple, and the one outside the temple).
Bahamut always pierces defense? Geez, I didn't know that.
I wonder what happens if Cait Sith or Tifa is in your party for that fortune telling scene after the boss. I mean, you wouldn't exactly have to go to the exit to GET Cait Sith in your party. And the scene would be quite awkward if Tifa was there. I only remember having Red XIII in my party, so I don't really know how it would go.
i liked how u did the anime cartoon thing "metor, metor, metor!" it was great, lol makes your lp's alot more fun to watch, i mean don't get me wrong, even the boring parts are funny.
Ugh, Demon Gate..I had lots of trouble as well, once I got over the "OMG FFIV reference!!" glee..probably because I tried to use lots of magic instead of physical attacks.
I am almost certain Nanaki is a feline, it seems obvious to me.
And yes I have a tendancy to name characters by their real or revealed names as soon as they enter my party like Glenn for Frog, Janus for Magus in CT. So I name him Nanaki right from the start.
I thought Red XII was a lion not a dog? lol :D

If Nanaki howls then he is a dog with a flaming tail.

So does this mean that the cat on top of Cait Sith is also stuffed? I hope so...
HCBailly, please tell me that no kitty cats were harmed in the making of this episode!

I only remember having Red XIII in my party, so I don't really know how it would go.
drunyon214 3 years ago
@drunyon214 Having Tifa makes no difference, and having Cait Sith means he's already there during the scene (and there's no phonecall either).

Ugh, Demon Gate..I had lots of trouble as well, once I got over the "OMG FFIV reference!!" glee..probably because I tried to use lots of magic instead of physical attacks.

This Demon Wall/Gate was so much tougher than the one's in FFXII

At least there's an actual cliff this time.

I am almost certain Nanaki is a feline, it seems obvious to me.
And yes I have a tendancy to name characters by their real or revealed names as soon as they enter my party like Glenn for Frog, Janus for Magus in CT. So I name him Nanaki right from the start.

He barks at you when you hit him with the ball in that resort town though. As far as I can tell that's a canine thing.

Red XIII, a dog? I always thought of him as feline/leonine...

I was just waiting for the daily "HC Cliffhanger" just before you menitoned your last comment. Fantastic as always!
