I agree with you in saying that you prefer what you see first, that is the case most of the time. Seeing Charlie's version on the uk show first I prefer that one, and I don't think it is true in saying that this one has more emotion- I think they are both equal in that sense but charlies is performed with more technique and to me that is what makes it better but this one is still amazing

I'm Afraid the American version wasn't a patch on the original British version, I think it lost any credibility due to the lack of technique, there were so many points of suspension missed by the American female dancer that it ruined the choreography for me! I wasn't a big fan of Charlie during the competition, thought she was a bit stage dancey, but by the end of the competion she had grown so much as a dancer that she convinced me otherwise.

@munroweston this was done first, so perhaps the British girl added the "points of suspension" later on. This was amazing, and much more emotional to me. It was all over the news in North America after it was performed. I think for the most part, ppl will prefer whatever they saw first.
