He uses his life in his songs,9:25 is his brother Terry was committed August 25th (9/25)when David was young, he was 13 years or so older than David. Time's sung from Terrys point of view as David listens.If you know that,the song makes sence.The song Jump is when Terry tried to commit suicide jumping off Cane Hill Sanitorium, that's the bldg on The Man Who Sold the World.

Terry took his life on the train tracks years later

Terry was Davids older brother. Contrary to popular belief, he's not an only child. He has a sister as well. And as a correction, yes 9/25 is September 25th. The song "Bewlay Brothers" on the Hunky Dori album is also about him and his brother. When david was around 15, he and Terry used LSD while goofing around with a ouija board. They were trying to "expand" their mind and it went wrong in a bad way....

The reason Bowie references so much to his brother and his mental illness is because of his fear that one day he would become mentally insane himself. there's a history of mental illness in Bowie's family and he's always been afraid that it would damange him somehow. Thankfully, it never happened. Jump They Say is probably one of the most "autobiographical" Bowie songs.

All tracks were taken from the Midnight Special TV show, October 1973, recorded at London's Marquee Club. The album was notable for amusing fillers between the tracks. Anybody out there still got a copy????

It was shot at the Marquee Club in London over 3 days in October 1973. This was his first appearance after retiring Ziggy. Mick Ronson was with him and leading the band, par usual. After the show he left for France, with Ronson, to record Pin-Ups. (Diamond Dogs wasn't until '74.)Ronson would play with Bowie again at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Show and he also appeared on his Black Tie, White Noise album in the 90's. Ronson died shortly thereafter.
