  • @PozestStar Thanks :)

  • Very helpful.

  • Its too fast :( I cant do any of it. DARN! oh well. Nice!!

  • Name of the two songs and the artists please??? I like the songs :)

  • @omfgsjoc second song is jabse mili tumse by lucky ali :P

  • figured it out, thanks anyways for the vid

  • how do you actively mirror your model?

  • @kvanvelz go to duplicate special option and select instance.

  • what about the texturing!?

  • @sampad01 awesome.. thanks alot man I really Appreciate the help.

  • @BboyTzilla No problemo!

  • How did u add more lines and how did u cut out the eyes..im new 2 Maya

  • @BboyTzilla Please watch some basic tutorials on maya modeling, go to 3dtotal.com or other free tutorial sites. You can use the split polygon tool to do the cuts etc.

  • hey dude can you teach me xD???

  • Thank you for these. I haven't used Maya in about 2 years and these are really good for me to brush up on modeling again.

  • nice tutorial n nice techniques

  • This is very well done, but I have to also ask what was the script edit for?

  • 不错啊

  • Why are so many indian people doing modeling, is it maybe because of their huge cinema production?

  • @TERRANCIO

Brother, I am not Indian, I am from Bangladesh. The reason I did too many modeling is because my modeling does not satisfy me. I vowed that I will keep practicing until I am better at modeling and will not concentrate on rigging and animation unless I am a better modeler first. That is why. But these days I am learning rigging again and also doing rigging and animation along with modeling and texturing for a PC video game. I will share those works in my website once the game is out.

  • @sampad01 Sorry, it's a classic mistake for us to make... as i don't recognize the accent, i tend to think you are indian, which is the biggest and most known country from that region... my apologies! and thanks for your videos!

  • @TERRANCIO Hey no need to be sorry! I was just trying to make myself known as who I really am, that's all and clear the confusions. And as you can see... I have used Indian songs all over my vids cos I like Indian music :) and that is why people always think that I must be an Indian myself :)

  • @TERRANCIO cinema prod?quality cgi is hardly used in indian cinema but it has seen a dramatic increase in last couple of years..however the ratio of good animators amongst indians is 3 out of crowd of 100...u can see crap all around in indian cg industry..n almost majority of people end up joining different profession when they frustrate n fail at it..n it happens bec there is no discipline in art, anyways just wrote to clearify a myth

  • what was these scrypt editor commads for?

  • Thank you for this!

  • Nice video sampad! Im modelling a head and trying to get some tips! But this video is so fast it got me dizzy!. lol :D

  • Sweet selection of music to go with this, mate.

  • x k chucha lo haces tan rapido

  • Hi, looks quite good tutorial but can u plz direct me to a place where I can get it in normal speed. Its too fast to follow.

  • how do i learn MEL scripts???? they teach usinf softwares, but not programming n stuff T_T

  • thanks a lot man!

  • who is the music done by in the first couple of minutes of your video my friend? would really like to know thanks...

  • @Revedious Lucky Ali from India :)

  • thanks do you know the song title?

  • i'll do that next time :-). if possible post a video on modeling a creature head not human i always get stuck with creatures heads.

  • @rahulcamma Try some zbrush tutorials then. They are cool for creatures. People hardly use box modeling technic for creature modeling these days. They do the whole thing with zspheres and after the sculpting they retopologize them.

  • can u model a creature head with box modeling if so then plz post the video and one more thing no offence but put some nice music or none.

  • u can just mute the sound anytime you want :D

  • @rahulcamma u think tht song isnt nice..????!

  • thanks i'm using this now, very helpful.

  • now d 2nd song's stuck in my head hahahahha thx again,

  • super sweet vid man, wrong music for me tho, im not hating the music , just not my type. the vid helps me lots...thx

  • why go through all that without taking it the next steps using Zbrush 3.0 ?

  • @yung23567

Thats not how I like to do things, thats all. I kinda like less detail and more forms and shapes. I hate modeling creatures and monsters. Zbrush is mostly for those things. But I do prefer the cloth folds done into similar programs like that.

  • brilliant!

    absolutely brilliant!!!

  • yes I know that.. thank you.... lol :D

nothing fancy dude! anyone can do this with 1 week of practice... believe me! :)

  • I don't know who learns anything watching shit in FF but at least you know what you're doing.

  • How long did this take? Everytime I start modeling a head, I'll spend a couple of days on it, hate the eyes and mouth, and quit. I'm going to try this method. This looks really cool. Thanks!

  • Hey, yeah it turns out really good.

Also, what's the code you use to make the polygon appear wireframe?

  • Hey Sampad whats the name of the two songs you played. By the way your maya skills rock!

  • I really dont remember the name of the songs and I neither have them anymore. They were in my old hard disk. But they are both Lucky Ali;s songs. I was surprised t o find these songs too because I have never heard them in any of his albums.

  • NICE I AM A HEAD MODELER TOO

    Hey guys,

come to my channel and look at the video.

    my animations are amazing!

and i entered a HP competion

PLEASE HELP ME AND VOTE THUMBS UP FOR ME!!

  • Wow, at first i was thinking: "why is this guy boxmodeling, way to much work" But your technique is amazing, and works faster than extrudes i guess.. Very interesting! You are a talented modeler!

  • is there any need for MEL code in modeling ?

  • Nope... just manually turn off the shading of your model if you are working with a image reference polygonal plane or something like that behind your model. That way u can see through your model and edit in wire mode. I made a simple MEL command to turn that on and off frequently.

  • got ya ! i never use Maya, found it to be a bit fiddly

but i think i would have no probs modeling on it, it's just doing the rest ! Will stick to XSI , nice work BTW !

  • I want to known your "MEL code "for your modeling, because I can see the code clearly.thx

  • hey dude.... what do those MEL code do in yoru modelling? i dont know anything on mel man... if they are not really effective then i am gonna start using ur tutorial to model my own head...great tutorial by the way..

  • Sampad, one more question. This time not about modeling. What is the name of artist, who wrote that soundtracks you use? I like it, but my TrackID cant identify it =) Thanks again.

  • this one is a song of Lucky Ali. My favorite artist.

  • yes ... really nice song if u have a link please send ... also tried ur tutorial really helpful ... thanx a lot ...

  • you should follow a method its better for explaining to others....

im at the college and all I do is following the method of my teacher hehe ;)

  • And my second question (the first took up the entire post, haha) - how would your approach differ if you were modeling, say, a cartoon character with a strange shaped head like Homer Simpson? Do you try to adapt this workflow into every head you make (starting with the neck, extruding for the head, etc.), or do you approach each head differently?

    Again, good vids!

  • I think your first answer is called "Point snapping the pivot point of vertices to the center".

Just select the vertices and hold v on keyboard. Then middle mouse button drag over any vertice/ point you wish and all the verices will snap to that point. But if you hit INSERT key once first and then hold v and mmb drag over any point, the vertices wont move, on the contrary, their pivot point will jump to that point and you can then move, rotate or scale from that point.

  • The answer to your second question is.. I don't follow any strict method. I actually think about how the model will be rigged and animated and also how I will feel comfortable to UV and texture it. I always try to keep the topology as clean and Animation-friendly as possible. I also try to keep the number of polygons as low as possible. And then it doesn't matter if I model it from poly to poly or by extruding a box. Thanks for your curiosity.

  • Very nice workflow! I hope to model like this someday! I have a couple questions though:

1.Around 3:25 - 3:27, You extrude the faces for the mouth and then scale inwards. At first, the edges at the center are scaled inwards too, but then you undo it and scale it again, and the second time the edges at the center remain snapped to the center. I've been trying to figure this out forever. How do you do this? (Do you know the name of the command? Not the hotkey cuz I changed most of mine).

  • This called the real modeling specially the lady model in your blog page

No words to comment please upload the slower version or please send me to mail id

  • thanks

  • Sampad your the best modeler I've seen. But if you could please slow it down a bit. My final this quarter is to build a model and animate it. so i could use some pointers. Great job!

  • yes I do have the original slow videos... but its gonna take a while for me to upload all of them. I have to split it into 10 minutes per clip because youtube doesn't support more than that. I wish I could just hand it to u. I live in Bangladesh, you know.... its a long way :)

  • OK Thank You! I have an animation class this quarter and you helped me alot.

  • Wow Man Great Work!!

  • thanks :D

  • I like the beginning music

  • :-D

  • Nice

  • nice.. i think its helpfully tutorial for new maya modeler.
