Funny how Democrats attack academics when they do not agree with them. No one seems to be able to explain how Gramm-Bleich-Bliley caused this problem. Maybe all Americans were asleep when they took Economics in college.
Phil Gramm is and academic with no pratical experience - much like GINGRICH, ARMEY, WOLFOWITZ, FEITH, ETC!!!
In 1973 Gramm invested in three soft-core pornographic films promoted by his brother-in-law, George Caton. Only the third, "White House Madness" - a soft-core pornographic political satire set in the White House during the Nixon administration - was actually produced. The film flopped and Gramm lost his $7,500 investment. Gramm is not given production credit on the film's IMDB page
This is Accounting 101. Anyone who's taken financial accounting can attest that this would free up credit, but the downside is that it opens up more potential for corporate abuse. However, it's worth it in this case. Remember, Gingrich is proposing a temporary 3 year rolling average -- not a permanent end to mark-to-market.
Deregulation has totally underminded the economy has lead to corruption...imagine if the fda was privatized ...i'll take a side of salmonella with my ecoli soup.
Gingrich is a political hack/academic - never worked in the private sector. Warren Buffett, Carl Ichan and Boone Pickens all feel the workout plan is viable. Gingrich, Phil Gramm are largely responsible for the mess we are in now.

GINGRICH KNOWS NOTHING - ACADEMIC
Deregulation of financial markets, has bankrupted this country. McCains primary financial advisor Phil Gramm was the primary sponsor of the GLB - ACT - which separated banks and investments. In 2004 SEC, allowed investment banks to leverage up to 40/1. Partially responsible for the current financial meltdown.
McCain, Gramm, Bush and others pushed for deregulation.
Democrats demanded lower underwriting standards for Fannie/Freddie
It shouldn't be too hard....I'm sure after 4 years of an obama presidency...they will realize what a huge mistake we made....everybody drinking Obama koolaid...
McCain needs to go negative against liberalism. He should announce some key cabinet positions, with Newt as Secretary of State. Putin is making overtures of a new cold war and we cannot survive an effete,Obamaniac regime.
Let's pray for the battleground states to go with a more fiscally conservative vote for McCain/Palin.
Does everyone not know that the media and the democrats in Congress always hype a panic in the economy right before a Presidential election? Remember Clinton in '92 saying that the US was in the worst economy in 50 years?
They love to play this sick game with voters, without solving the root cause problem...

Aaah no! Lets hope that most people wake the hell up and realize that McCain and Obama are nothing more then flip sides of the same rotten coin - both are special interest muppets!
If you want to save this country then vote for Chuck Baldwin!
Don't be stupid enough to think voting for a third party candidate is a wasted vote. Nothing could be further from the truth! Voting for the same crap is a wasted vote, and only shows that you're willing to accept more of the same BS!
Newt is the right wings nigger!

Yeah we need a new tax code - but not the bullshit farce of so called Fairtax.
Here is a clue you gullible morons-- fairtax pretends it will tax the government a sales tax. Sounds okay to you dumb asses doesn't it?
Thats cause you are dumb asses.
The fuching government can not fuching pay its self a trillion in sales tax and count that as income retard.
But thats one of the shit -is-pudding tricks the Fairtax con artist use.
They know its bullshit. Magic Pony that shits gold

regulation is what caused this crap in the first place
the government told the banks to loan to people who can't pay them back in the name of "fairness"
when they didn't pay the money, the banks lost out huge, and went under because of it.
HandyMan101 3 years ago 2
no... not at all.. the feds loosened regulations, but that had nothing to do with who they could lend to.

Newt is now and authority on economics and has conferred with 500 economists.
Henry Paulson, has conferred with Warren Buffett, Bill Gross and others with pratical EXPERIENCE - NO ACADEMICS.
ALSO BUFFETT, GROSS, JAMIE DIMON, AND OTHERS WITH PRATICAL EXPERIENCE AGREE WITH MARK TO MARKET.
NO ACADEMICS PLEASE - GO TAKE ACCOUNTING 101

It's a legitimate strategy.

McCain needs to committ to balance the budget with the 2nd budget of his adminstratio.
Newt predicted (as did I) that Nancy would lard up the 2nd bill and the Dems did.
