Look, this track is a freakin' masterpiece. The first time I heard it I was in driving alone in my car and was just blown away. It's still one of my favorite driving tunes! :) Mike's guitar work on this song is tremendous.
Yeah same here, first heard this song driving alone in my car and half way through way just like damn, I NEED to figure out who this is. Great driving song. Fantastic! Too bad there aren't many musicians around today like Phil and Peter.
If any band around today can produce a track as good as this I'll eat my shorts. I'm that confident that The Brazilian is an absolute cracker. Nice one lads.
i remember standing in hampden park glasgow 1985 and the sound live was better than the disc and the atmosphere was electric but hey id been smoking a few singing cigarrettes lol
Yea. I think this pretty hott. I mean to my ears it sounds sensual and sexy. I have the cassette tape. I liked it in the 80s, and it still sounds great. It's very creative, and i like how the music builds to create excitement!!! This and Tonight Tonight show that Genesis can be sexy too!!!
i'm surprised that this piece isn't a standard used in marching bands-especially if it was chosen as a competition piece-all of the percussion that banks and collins came up with especially the glockenschpeil tink-would be a great sequence to pound-'maybe even with some improv/jam to it..'boring, yes?
Speaking of marching bands- I was in band auxiliary in high school and made a rifle team bit using this song. Partly because its awesome, and partly because I'm half Brazilian. ;)
Yeah - it's louder on the album version than on the live version - I was kind of expecting it to be the other way round :) But I like the BWOOSH just the same - a reverberating gong - what more can you ask for? :)
Great way for Tony Banks to get some recognition for his talents too. Not that I'm saying the rest don't deserve sumthin sumthin too but Mr. Banks kinda gets pushed to the back sometimes.
this would have been awesome on the last tour

To be honest, I don't like this song a whole lot, but even at their worst Genesis are still the best around!

Wasn't this used by the BBC as the theme music for an Olympics? - possibly Soeul?
