They may be cheaper in the USA, but yeah I have seen many home made snorkels, they make them up using pvc piping and a few joining elbows. Most home made ones I have seen still use the proper snorkel head though.

i dont believe that a tacoma could out 4X a jeep wrangler...maybe he is a bad driver, i went 4x4ing with a tacoma once and i admit they are good trucks. but we jump our jeep and smash it going through anywhere. we have not had a problem with our jeep and we out 4X many hummers, toyo's, fords and chevy's. the only truck that has proven to be faster on a 1/4 mile track(stock) is a ford F-350 with chargers.

i dont think a toyo could outdo a wrangler

i just got a new jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon, and its not that great for offroading(my 98 cherokee is awesome) but the rubicon has 237 lb ft of torque for a 5400 lb curb weight vehicle,.., the 5.3L engine in the silverados has only 338 lb of torque for a 5308 curb weight vehicle the silverado is only 3.10 and the jeep is 4.10.. so a lot of that torque is just put into acceleration and not pull
