I'll be looking forward to your version! I'll keep a look out for it in about 2 -3 weeks like you said.
WOW, those Olson's sound great! 18 months of pure craftsmanship! Funny thing though... I would think that James Taylor would've bought himself a Taylor Guitar... I mean, it already has his name on it! HA! (just kidding!)
Oh, and I just realized that you have the same initials as James Taylor! So I am going to declare you as JT Junior! (lol) Take care,
I'll be looking forward to hearing your Michael Buble's version! I'm sure you'r version will be great!
PS I went to Guitar Center (Not sure if you have those where you live?) I got inspried to check out new folk guitars and was looking at some Taylors that were in the upward range of $3,000.00 Guess I gotta save my pennies!!!
PSS What kind of guitar do you play? It has a really nice sound!
I think Ill get my next video posted in about 2-3 weeks. As far as my guitar, it's an Olson SJ (1996). You can pickup a used Olson like this for ~$8-10K. I don't know what Jim charges for a new guitar now! Believe it or not, I ordered thaw over the phone from Jim and it took 18 months to get. The only guitars Ive heard that are sweeter are James Taylors. And I firmly believe that is a function of how much they've been played (& loved!).
Thank you very much for the tips, I really appreciate the help! I meant what I said.. You are truly talented and you need to get yourself a Colonel Parker (Elvis' Mgr!) and go knock 'em dead! Rock on my friend!
Yeah, small tips can make a big difference me thinks. I'm going to post a version of Michael Buble's "I Just Haven't Met You Yet". I'll be interested to get your reaction!
You are truly talented! Like some of the other comments that are posted here, I've seen some other very talented people do this cover, but you have nailed it man! Very impressed with your playing and your vocals. How'd you ever learn to play this song? I've seen different finguring and yours seems to be the most accurate. Your tuning seems to be differrent too... not your standard tuning arrangement. Inquiring minds would like to know! HA! ; ) Thank you,
And the tuning is standard. I just pickup JT's arrangements by ear. One thing I find helpful is to use a 2-3-1 fingering for the standard D chord; and with the A chord use the same fingering (usually 1-2-3). This way you free up your first finer to play the bass notes. Otherwise you're stuck with playing the bassnotes with your chin or your teeth (jk).
Jeff, you are seriously talented man. I have been a ardent fan of JT since 1966 and very few people can do a cover of one of JT's songs that keeps the "soul" of the song and at the same time make it distinctfully their own. I wish you luck in becoming universally known as the great talent you are. ~ Thanks, Michael
I real like this cover version. i guess it not easy to play and sing, cause James Taylor is somehow a genius in vocal and guitar. When i recovered him, i picked also up, some of your excellent covers!
This gave me chills, good job sir!
