Whenever you watched a Hulk Hogan match up in the WWF, it was always his opponents trying to match strenght and brutality against him and coming off second best, or equaling him on it, or getting the better of him over it (i.e. the ultimate warrior). But here, Inoki is not even trying to match strenght and brutality with hogan, he's using science over size
He did a move where he ends up in an armbar. I think he almost broke inoki's arm tho it looks rather botchy because his arm is in the right position but he needs to roll over first i think lol
@butoden i actually think inoki made it botchy. when hogan hooks his leg for leverage, that should be inokis cue to roll over. since he didnt, hogan fell before inoki rolled. its actually close to alberto del rios finisher. hogan would use this armbar alot in japan, NEVER in the USA lol
@rockinpablo It's just a cool way to get into a cross armbreaker, I have actually seen Hogan use that move on occassion in the states. I believe he used it on Bret Hart on Nitro in 1998
@rockinpablo It's an armbar takedown, Dustin Hazelett used it in UFC in a shoot fight. Hogan however used an arm-pull of some sort which is not a real submission (or at least not hard to get out of/reverse).
just to clarify things for me was hulk hogan the IWGP champion in 84 because I really thought that the belt came later in 87 and inoki was the first IWGP champion. I remember him creating the IWGP Tournament(G1-Climax).so please someone on here answer this for me. just to clarify things for me was hulk hogan the IWGP champion in 84 because I really thought that the belt came later in 87 and inoki was the first IWGP champion. I remember him creating the IWGP Tournament(G1-Climax).so please someone on here answer this for me. Hulk Hogan stated in 1994 that in Japan the crowd expect wrestling and in the US they want to be entertained. If he wrestled in US the way he did in Japan all the time, he would simply be a mid carder!
Hulk Hogan is still the master crowd controller and that is why he has stayed at the top longer than anyone. His pyschology of less is more in American wrestling is something wrestlers today should take into consideration.

i'd say angle, benoit, melinko... i do consider bret too but he did apply some dirty tactics as a heel, but still high up there. He is definetly the only front man in wrestling that stuck to wrestling more as his pop for the crowd, him and angle.

Gee, Hulk Hogan pulled off some real technical moves in Japan. Maybe this is why they gave that spinning headlock-to-leglock to his move set in WWF SmackDown! Just Bring It. Would be nice to see some of those moves in the WWF, but it would probably take away from his good ol' American Brawler image. :)
