Wait, I'm confused, at first it sounded like you were arguing for materialism because it's impossible to avoid - part of human nature. If it was, then how could anyone do good things for other people? Also, idealism isn't equal to moral utopianism. Idealism just argues everything is ideas, and that reality is the product of mind/language. I agree that our culture is too full of decadence, but you can't get beyond that if you don't have some hope of something different.

Just watched and liked this vid, and understand what your saying, but I do believe greediness can be beneficial to society. Coveting different things and being inspired to ascertain them is what drives economy, and supports our widely wasteful and decadent lifestyles. Thats what its like for those people with the expensive birthday party. They recieve too much for their own good so they wont appriciate anything. I'm an optimist, you make a good point in human kind intention, but who wants a perfect world ? Second your talking about money, success depends, if they worked hard for it and honestly. They are the ones who actually give back.... I see people with fancy cars and things but they can't afford them..my dream someday is to help kids in a hospital. I'm lazy but not greedy. I hate greedy people. If I was rich, I'd give to the less fortunate, the people struggling to survivor every day because I know through experience what it's like to be poor and down in the dumps.Material objects give limited access to happiness but it doesn't forefill a person's life. I'm surrounded by the rich almost on a daily basis.
