@ipsilon160 Personally I despise both Adelaide and Port Adelaide, but from what I have heard the AFL are prepared to remove Port Adelaide from the league from 2017 if they continue to cost the AFL money. That coincides with the next TV rights deal. $12 million of the current deal has gone towards the Adelaide clubs, both of whom have poor attendances due to supporters not showing up because of lack of team success. Bandwagon clubs.

@ipsilon160 I believe the AFL has room for as many as 3 successful South Australian teams, but the problem is that the Adelaide Crows can be supported at AFL level by supporters of Norwood, Glenelg, Sturt, WWT etc. However the Power are only supported by Port Adelaide SANFL supporters. Port were actually handed an AFL license before the SANFL stripped it and Adelaide were formed as a composite side. Port Adelaide are in the same position as Adelaide, a young rebuilding side.

Crows are an awesome team (even if they aren't doing that well this year), and the AFL can't keep expanding the AFL to include more teams. Something's gotta give... The AFL has created a situation in which there are not enough talented players to sustain the current number of AFL teams.

They should be the Port Adelaide Power, 2004 Premiers, and nothing else. If they build a successful culture of their own, the supporters will come.
