I guess the increased amount of troops put into Afghanistan doesn't come into play when were talking about how the former administration was working in Afghanistan vs. the new administration. Obama has more than doubled the amount of troops there since he's taken office and just as Cheney says his admin analyzed the actions in Afghanistan in Fall of 2008, gee that's only a 7 year old war by then that had all it's resources sent to Iraq to attack a county that was in no way a threat.

I'm a libertarian. We view war as a gov't action that infringes on our liberty. It is costly and therefore requires taxes and inflation. Large wars such as WWII and Vietnam require compulsory service, which means the gov't has a claim on your life. Gov't grows during wars and whenever gov't grows it will crowd out liberty. Can I say PARTIOT Act? We are not always given honest assessments of the treats we face(Iraq). You think nation building will make you safe? You trust the govt to keep u safe?

But in the modern age, you cannot go to war without it...again we didn't just obliterate the Axis and then leave right? That was a nation vs. nation warfare and the conclusion was treaties, war crime trials, loans to the axis countries for rebuilding, we kept a few bases and came home! We started wars, we lost liberty, our gov't accumlated more and more debt, they gave a boost in maintaining the faulty consumtion based economy. I actually take a toll road to work and it is much better than the other freeways in our city. no bumps and there is a wrecker that stands by so if some one crashes it cleared in half the time. if i didn't pay 36% of each pay check to the federal gov't to fund the state i would be happy to pay a little toll on all the roads i drove on. and the best part is it would be voluntary. sad part is my taxes are not enough so they borrow at interest and inflate the money when they still need more.
