oh men, i can't believe this.. at these time when they were just 14 or 14 years old, i am only 5 or 6 years old.. i don't even have the interest of music... but since i was in 1st year,i started to love music... most especially this great band silverchair... Everytime i listen to their music,,, i feel so cool,i forgot all my problems.. it makes me feel so happy, i just can't explain why? maybe because of their songs... that are so great.. i really hope that i will see them in person... :)

That's not entirely true. Not all artist change, and most artist who don't change, choose not to because like they say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Many feel, as do I, Silverchair didn't need to be fixed, and they could have still been successful with the old sound. I'm just saying.

The first thing that came to my mind as I read your comment was "Aerosmith" those old badstards have been doing that same shit for fking EVER and are still selling out shows. I think that for a person like Daniel Johns, it's not about the money, it's about creating art. He's just "different" and he should be respected as an artist even if you stopped liking the music he writes. The fact that he's always written his own music says alot. They are still succesful.

i agree with you both. i think it really depends on the style of music and how the band progresses throughout their music career. silverchair was great from frogstomp through to neon ballroom then sorta went wierd but sounded really original and then people started liking them again then they blew it with straight lines on young modern. still one of my biggest inspirations and one of the greatest bands (:

I think Silverchair stands alone in how they have evolved and evolved again - they have gone far beyond most of their peers. Daniel is a brilliant musician and fantastic guitarist. Not hard to look at, either. :)

Any REAL musician can't stay in one place forever. Bands that play the same thing for 20 years don'thave the ability to grow. When I first heard of Silverchair I wrote themoff as another trio of Nirvana wannabes. Look at the musical styles they have grown into and out of and they are not done yet. Daniel Johns is rated as one of Rolling Stones 25 most under rated guitarists in the world - and Silverchair's music speaks for itself - they are a force to be reckoned with, just awesome.:)
