  • Let the bass roll!

  • Mark King is a God! Back in the day, the 80's, we Northern boys all thought he was the best Bass player in the world. Sure you had people like Marcus Miller and Pino Palidino who were funky but no one touched Mark for depth and character... most of the rhythms on Level 42 songs come from the bass, and not from the keyboards or guitar which mostly provide fills. Add to this he could sing (well) and write.... just a fantastic guy! Could even do it flying over the audience as he used to do live.

  • These guys make Dave Mathews look like beginners!

  • Bass always sounds great with Mark King! I am a fan!

  • a 23 lote non piace

  • King has that Les Claypool slap and tickle down pat. Bass always sounds great with Level 42.

  • @probrojeffro Mark King was around long before Les Claypool... Mark King took slap bass to a whole new level... pun intended

  • "As I wash your face..."

  • @SamBAss42 ghahaha:)

  • It's awesome.... feel the beat... the harmony 'n improvisation are very GOOD...wow...

  • Master shit!!!

  • Why is everyone saying that the bass is too much? It's the best part! :D Quite frankly, I like the version w/ the other brown haired back up singer.

  • Wauw...magic, man!

  • drummer: throw away your horrible snare drum (better: your complete drumkit).

    O my god.

  • @donwilly : man, you are so right on this. Horrible snare.

  • @ChossRock snare sounds awful. sounds like a tom!

  • @75cammo

Sounds like he has the snares off (Is that the correct way to put it? I'm swedish. Just google 'sejarmatta' if your'e unsure what I mean). Sounds reaaally bad.

  • slap bass + singing + chewing gum = god

  • @hollowmaskful seriously, I wouldn't be able to do that in 1000 years

  • Fantastic musicianship. They were badly underrated in their day, put down as jazz-funk. Look back now and they were the best.

I thought that they stoped...where is today the band they can play such a nice song with nice and clear base sound ..I missed them since the 80´s

  • Why are people sitting down?! and why are they not even moving?! what is wrong with those people! crazy! I cant wait to see level 42.

  • Singing something completely different than what I would be playing on the bass would throw me off ...

  • pasado de verga jajaja no mames

  • the funk bass kinda takes them away from their original sound. the singer got to good on bass.

  • @rubster1206

how do you mean? mark has always been a incredible bassist. watch their top of the pops version of this from 1981 on youtube n you will see he plays it pretty much the same on bass.

  • Can't believe how stiff the audience is...my chair is shaking and I'm about to flip here. Such great music and those farts just sit there....

  • Fantastic song by a fantastic band. I see some poeple here are discusing who is better, King, Flea or Wooten. For me music isnt about who's the best or who is better. It's about what you personally like. "Love Games" is a great song. Level 42 or any band isn't just about one member of the band. The band have got to groove together to make the great sound that they do make.

  • good...hade anying maen bass na sumpah ..edan anying huuh keren....

  • droog kut publiek

  • hey man i think God wants his hands back... :D

  • What's the best Level 42 album?

  • @fishtricker1 yessir............

No. It's the track that made me play bassguitar in the first place!!

  • I think the audience all saw how good that slap bass was, had heart attacks and died. The only thing that seems to make sense to me, otherwise who knows why none of them moved!

  • God.

  • The big music... Mark King and Cia.

They was hidden in last years ...

youtube is a good key for this greats surprises...

  • @mantaroy777 Ever been to a Level 42 concert lately? The PA sound is so bad that I stopped going to their concerts!!! When you can't hear the bass and the snare drum eats trough your head like big bullets, you feel like going home or become stiff :p

  • Great music !!

  • does anybody know why they are called "Level 42" ?

  • @janellsis They were going to name is 88 after the bus they got to the recording studio but another band had a similar name, so they got the number 42 inspired from a lift and also while they were reading Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy the answer to all things is 42 so the idea was put forward
