I tell you what, if we discover the way to travel to new worlds and you found the opportunity to travel there, If I found myself in that situation I might just play this speech during my trek or after I arrive.. IDK why.
The only good part of the movie besides the car chase finale. The rest; Tina Turner, the son of that pilot, the tribe, Master Blaster... jesus they were ALL annoying, it's as if they all wondered into the wrong movie set. I hope Fury Road does more justice as the true last film of the trilogy (even though Mel Gibson's not in it, I'll be there).
Also I PRAY for an open world Mad Max game that's a cross between GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption.
what I liked about the mad max films was the different atmosphere of each film, the first film society was intact but breaking down , the second society had completely broken down ,and the third is like society trying to rebuild itself . but I think 2 was the best
I agree the second movie was the best. The car chases were amazing considering the film's limited budget. Still, I hated how all my favorite characters from the oil refinery died just protect the lame people.
"...and we lights the city. Not just for him....but for all of them that are still out there. 'Cause we knows there'll come a night.... when they sees the distant light...and they'll be coming home..."
@Aglassact77 Where else could you go with a sequel to THE ROAD WARRIOR, one of the top five action films ever made, without making another film just like it. I know many fans are unhappy with MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME, and its predecessor will always be my personal favorite, but. to me, a change of tone helped more than hurt the film, and the story brought the character further along the road to redemption that he sought in THE ROAD WARRIOR.
@Aglassact77 Thunderdome is an odd film in that its criticisms and acclaim are chalked up to the same causes. That it wasn't just like Road Warrior and Mad Max (i.e., pure action, very low budget, just car chases).
Anyone know if this film is ever going to get released on Blu-Ray? The only version I know of in the US is a 2-for-1 DVD paired with Road Warrior and the print looks really awful. I mean, hair and dirt clumps on the screen awful.
there is something i really would like to know (there may not be an answer): is max supposed to continue wandering the wasteland alone for the rest og his days, or is he supposed to reach the distant light of sydney, and then spend the rest of his days with the children who has been grown up...? IF max ever reaches the children in sydney, would he then even want to live with them? in mm2 there was no doubt, that max preferred to live alone, but would his personality be like that forever?
2:59 HE NEEDS HIS CAR AGAIN! he has nothing to survive with WITHOUT his car man! its like his ICON his life on to wat makes him MAD, or THE ROAD WARRIOR. im sry im picky that way but comeone without his car MAX is nothing. he could die when he gets surrounded. its just. its not him at all without his car and his dog! i grew up seeing that. and watching this was like...damn he wont, and he cant survive without those 2 things. it wat makes up his character man! its wat makes him wat he is! lol
@Aglassact77 Yea, the movie industry is nothing like it used to be. Nothing but dumbed down PG-13 tweenie movies & Crappy Michael Bay action rip-offs. Ridley Scotts "Prometheus" & The next "Batman" are the only movies worth paying $15.00 to see next year. But even those will be rated PG-13. I hope the movie industry doesn't die like the music industry has.
@superhuman295 he is, they just release a huge mess of news that not only talks about part 4, but an anime that takes place before 4, a game that takes place between the anime and part 4, and 2 more movies after part 4. miller has been super busy.
Although personally I thought Beyond Thunderdome was the weakest in the trilogy, however I somehow liked the theme of "messiah savior" and the bittersweet ending with Max walking towards the wasteland yet again and become a legend.
Its a bit like Fallout 3 from the Fallout series, probably the weakest in the serie, but somehow was atmospheric and has it own charm.
Ah yes, also Beyond Thunderdome was co-produce between Australia and Hollywood, so the action was a bit more like "fantasy" adventure (and also the violence and the cynical dark theme was toned down).
What was left was a bit like those 80's sci fi action adventure. The change of direction from Car-Fu action (from previous two) into a acrobatic action could be good and bad. It focus more on the characters (especially Max) than the main plot.
Somehow, I replayed Fallout 3 more than New Vegas, I don't know why, New Vegas is fun as an "action" game more than a RPG probably because of the great choice of weapons...
But there is something in Fallout 3 that drew me to it.... it is the atmosphere and the "sad" feeling around the destroyed D.C....
Just like Thunderdome with the bittersweet ending, there is something sad with seeing Max once again left all alone with nothing.
Can't remember any of the kids being rude to Max :), (I really disliked that mouthy little bugger even if I had the Child at heart perk which makes him "like" The Wanderer 101).
@hanchiman I think it might be his outfit. I always had a soft spot for the lamplighters as they had no one to really help them . Someone I hated was Allistair Tenpenny he was so condescending DX .
Actually one thing I didn't like in FO3 compared to the other series is that your character "Wanderer 101" somehow doesn't have any snappy reply when folks are being rude to you (well you can always blow their head off, but it give you bad Karma). In FO2 and FO: NV at least you can tell those ungrateful wastelanders to fuck off either that or blow their head off without affecting your overall karma (just reputation which is minimum effect).
Suppose some don't like this flick bec it's the "slickest" of the trilogy. For me, probably 1 of my top fifty films.Especially love this final 2 mins - combination of haunting, poignant music, softly-lit visuals of mesmerized children, crude poetry of those words,& that closing, heartbreaking image of a lonely figure trudging through the wastes-always brings a lump to my throat. Say what you will about this franchise's troubled star,he sure has bequeathed us some tremendous cinema over the yrs.
A great and touching scene where they are flying around Sydney, a great scene. Love the fact they made Sydney their home and keep the city lit for Max and all the others that will see the distant light and come home. Love the song "We Don't Need Another Hero" by Tina Turner, superb song. :)

I wouldn't compare it to AVP, which stunk.

@hanchiman One great thing about Beyond the Thunderdome was that it didn't ripoff from Road Warrior like most sequels would do to Blockbusters
