  • 0:07 what's that, Max/ESP???

  • Sounds like a Sigur Ros song... amazing.

  • I can't quite explain in words what this song does to me emotionally. But it certainly puts me in a higher place, I've never heard such beauty!

  • Emotions dont always look full of passion. Some of the strongest emoyions put me in a trance like state. The lads look overcome with emotion to me. Radiohead are a massive help to my soul my mind. And sadly i didnt tap into them till 2008 after a tragic life event.

  • every hair on my body is standing up

  • I love the moment 1:37 : ))

  • The only Radiohead albums that are hard for me to listen to are : Kid A and Amnesiac, but they both are still good records in my mind, I just have to be really depressed to fully enjoy them. Whereas their other albums, it doesn't matter how I'm feeling, they take me along for the ride.

  • This song is magical

  • most beautiful song ever written

  • @megsskytower whose yo daddy fool?

  • That was, um, underwhelming

  • @ascrodin

Let me be constructive. You're asking us to agree with you when saying that. I care if you found that underwhelming, you can say it. In fact no, you must say it and then elaborate or else you shut the fuck up with the KOL hate.

  • I'm sorry if I'm not part of the latter-day Radiohead cult. I just with these guys would show more passion when playing their songs. They're in a rock and roll band for crying out loud! They have the greatest jobs in the world and they look like they're bored as hell.

  • @ascrodin Thom still does a good falsetto, though.

  • @ascrodin

    VAT ???

They're not in a rock and roll band. They're alt rock-ambient-electronica ish. But they don't have a thing to do with rock n roll, even Thom yorke even said that was a pointless genre. And you think Codex would be part of rock n roll? It's just a lingering and atmospheric song... what use would it be for them to look like they're playing I Might Be Wrong or whatever? Why call them bored? Couldn't you say patient, meticulous or focused? Passion spills from Radiohead!

  • @ascrodin Maybe it's because the song is really slow paced and relaxing? If it was Paranoid and they were playing like this (all "bored"), then it would be kind of strange.

  • @ascrodin I feel bad for "people" like you.

  • It's almost impossible to describe the feeling this song produces in my insides. This would be the melody that resounds after the apocalyse. This will be played at my funeral, as my vacous corpse descends into the earth and becomes another set of dust that fuses with the silence of eternity. Tom Waits and Sigur Ros will be played too.

  • In heaven they'll play Codex all day on repeat...

  • @wesxila6 All though I freaking love this song, I think if that were the case heaven would be kind of depressing

  • 2:20 ... poor Ed o Brien... in In Rainbows he at least got to clap during 15 step

  • in rainbows was better, that reckord sounds like all with some kinda b-sides..but they still one of the best band in fuckin universe

  • Definitely the album version

  • Jump off the end...

  • this is ridiculously good, just down and amazing

  • Comment removed

  • HORNS!!!!

  • I was blown away by Codex when I heard KOL

  • BRILLIANT.

  • Codex y u no be national anthem of the universe?

  • blissful

  • Simply Beautiful....Need i say more?

  • Comment removed

  • this is relaxing .

  • fucking amazing love this band

  • truly beautiful

  • waaay too much beyond our imagination ...

  • compares thom with god....

  • @PETSETAKIS wow wow wow, dude, no. just, no. that's not right. that's sinful. nothing is better than Thom Yorke.

  • see u guys in coachella front row

  • So beautiful...

  • omg I love them as much as I always loved them.

  • Dude, I still can't understand how people actually dislike this, is the most beautiful thing I've heard since Pyramid Song

  • @etejuanete3 Maybe its the picture reversal that shows right handed players suddenly playing left-handed that they don't like?

  • @etejuanete3 it's the most beautiful thing since the dawn of time

  • i love how people hate king of limbs and still call themselves radiohead fans. dude if the band is still making music and you don't like it, you are no longer a fan. it is also ironic because king of limbs is pretty much the quintessential radiohead album, it is the pinnacle of the journey they've been on as musicians. if you look back chronologically at all their albums, this is the direction they were heading all along. and it epitomizes their unique sound and tone more than any album yet.

  • @rachelemargarita I see your point. But just because a person doesn't like one album by an artist that doesn't exclude them from fandom of the band. Every fan has a favorite record from their favorite band, and therefore also a least favorite. Part of being a fan is to be critical, too. My opinion is that TKOL is a good album, yet more sonically oriented than earlier, which is not for everybody. That doesn't change our freedom of opinion, though.

  • King of Limbs is brilliant. If you don't understand it, that's fine. But I promise you.. it is brilliant beyond what 2012 minds can hold.

  • this album is for disappear and fly

  • everything is going to be just fine...nothing is as powerful, im incoherent just like after having an orgasm

  • Un... Real

  • everyone is perfect FUCK THIS BAND MAN

  • i'd love to have ed o'brien's job. free tickets to every radiohead gig.

  • @holydrones Ed O'Brien been a part of this band for over 20 years because he brings his own creative ideas and skills to the music. RH isn't about guitar solos or showing off who is the better musician; all these guys care about is perfecting their music. The fact that Ed has the humility to exclude himself in this song makes him an even better musician in my eyes. But I can't hate on you because you obviously like Radiohead. Any Radiohead fan is cool in my book.

  • @holydrones very funny watch Myxomatosis or try to compose something like Street spirit and apologize to Ed

  • the curse of modern socializing- people talking and evaluating something they can not understand-if you like the music, enjoy it and if you don't that's fine too.. Art is being...

  • I want to cry because this is so FREAKING BEAUTIFUL

  • gorgeous song!

  • i love you EV RE20

  • @damekis Damn right. I use it for all my vox.

  • 3:10 gets me every time. Beautiful song. Fuck. Now I'm gonna cry.

  • why is everything is this vid backwards??( ie, guitarists all appear to be left-handed)??

    How odd...great song, tho...

  • @timjmoran it's mirrored for copyright I think, that's all.

  • @rainbowcullen REALLY ?!?! So all you gotta do not to be hit w/ a copyright infringement

is flip the whole thing around?/ That is SO strange.....

  • this is audio greatness, cheers lads , you did a great job on this one

  • look for the word cool in your dictionary. there is a picture of radiohead

  • just read in rolling stone this morn deadmau5 naming this his favorite album of the year, in particularity this song and bloom. mad respect for that deadmau5. im glad theirs musicians who care deeply about making beautiful song structure like Radiohead and deadmau5

  • @shaarij fuck off with that. The King Of Limbs is one of the best albums this year, Radiohead are one of the few bands that I can bare to listen to nowadays, sure OK COMPUTER was brilliant, but you have to get over the fact that they are modernising and yet still being capable artists who are trying to make a living. fuck back to 97' if you can and quit your bitching so real fans can actually listen to it without getting annoyed.

  • @JamesPurcellie That's a little severe. King of LImbs is not a great record. Its hardly even a good record, except for this song, which is amazing. But I can see why their fans are getting testy--too many acapella over electronica half assed songs. Not as great as their early stuff. They've still got it in em', they want to hear it.

  • @JamesPurcellie agreed, and to add to that, Radiohead doesn't make their music for fame, or money, or anybody else for that matter. They make music how THEY want to make it as professional f***ing musicians. If they abided by the fans whining for more Ok Computer we would have never seen Kid A, or Amnesiac which are two of the best albums of all time thanks to the direction they took music. I'm sure they love their fans, but they are not open to suggestions

  • @JamesPurcellie opinion - we are are all equally entitled to our own - as Thom would atest - just 'cos you may well have that of the majority does NOT render the rest of us morons. Veggie rights and peace xx

  • @JamesPurcellie I might be in the minority here, but I think RH's best work was on Pablo Honey and when they were On A Friday.

  • @ascrodin I disagree. I think their early stuff was a little too ''going with the flow of things''. It was when they broke away from that and started making their music unique that they gained recognition and were loved worldwide. They have matured so much as musicians.

  • @wesxila6

Remove the ''I disagree'' bit and you're just expressing your thoughts. The ''I disagree'' bit makes your statement arrogant. It's basically like saying ''No''.

  • @AwesomeCoasters I didn't mean to sound arrogant or anything. I was saying I personally felt that their later stuff is better. But that's just my opinion.

  • @AwesomeCoasters Do you know what the word 'disagree' even means?

  • @LUFCSPACEMAN

Be on point or shut the fuck up.

    Thank you.

  • @wesxila6 It seems like they've been in a rut since Kid A. Amnesiac, HTTT, IR, and KOL all feel like rehashes of the same old thing. I'm ready for Thom and the boys to move on the the next musical phase of their career. Change up the style a bit every now and then. They've been doing the "experimental" thing for so long the only unexpected thing they could do is go "conventional", even if just for one album.

  • This is a perfect example of why I've loved Radiohead since the 8th grade. Going on 20 years now...

  • I would drink Thom Yorke's bathwater.

  • @benbrown4544 the water's clear....and innocent...

  • @benbrown4544 Judging by the way he looks he probably doesn't bathe. He doesn't give a fuck though :)

  • @benbrown4544 freak!

  • @benbrown4544 haha wtf?!!!

  • @benbrown4544 HAHA that's terrible.

  • @benbrown4544 lol at you:)

  • Bravo!! Bravo!! I gonna cry! Bravo!!!

  • sounds great live! ill be seeing them 02 29 12!!! cant wait

  • Does anyone know how johnny got that effect on his midi keyboard or what the sound he gets even is?

  • @mac899 I ask this question too. Jonny creates a lot of midi programs, it's maybe the case!

  • @ThierryBetti I think he uses Max (Its an audio programming tool, very complex by the way :P)

  • @mac899

if you mean the effect that sounds like a phase shifter or filter an easy way to do it is on a mini kaoss pad its effect 18 or 17 and you just move your finger from bottom right to left hand corner whilst going up to produce a half circle in all.

  • @CUNTACCOUNT Thanks very much man i really appriciate that

  • Thumbs up if you think that the ginger was a doll dummie

  • cit "my only complaint about this song is that it ends"

  • what a voice.

  • MAX/MSP!

  • This song is so perfect for rainy days...

  • i think the 6 dislikes is one person with 6 usernames and tryin to be cool.

  • Why on earth would 6 human being dislike this song?

  • listening to this while try to read the text backward...epic

  • MAX/MSP! How does he use it?

  • @hayatotakahashi828 from what i hear in the album track he uses a custom patch with an fft sub patch to catch the piano sound and make smooth harmonies of it.

  • @amnisiakos

Thank you very much. I see.. he uses it appropriately, not in a crazy way like "Go To Sleep".

  • @hayatotakahashi828 he uses it in a crazy random way again but silently :)

  • @amnisiakos fft?

  • @yesitsvish fft comes from the "fast Fourier transform" and is a complex mathematic algorithm. An here he uses it for digital signal processing...

  • @amnisiakos can you point me to some info links on this?

also is it only MAX that can do this

am i right in thinking this 'patch" would effect any audio signal?

  • @yesitsvish thanks in advance.

  • @yesitsvish i use supercollider for this type of manipulation.you can check at cycling74 site for info about fft...

  • @amnisiakos again thank you

  • This is the most important thing that has ever happened.

  • This is the coolest band.

  • Ok, this might be my new favorite song. Have played this about 10 times in the last hour or so.

  • Such a beautiful song

  • Radiohead = ART

  • Cant stop playing this ,,,,,,best song ever

  • I once had quite an argument with two american musicians (arms & sleepers) about this song. They hated it "because it sounds like fuckin' Elton John" ... I was absolutely amazed at this impression. What utter nonsense. By the way, Ed does play on this song. On some parts he doubles Thom's piano chords on the guitar. Very gently, though. And Jonny's stuff can be heard better on record, it's a kind of Xylophone/Rhodes-esque sound, doing glissandos most of the time. But Phil's missing ...

  • hermosisimo!

  • Thom's 'radio' is picking up signals from another dimension, and he is fucking with our heads.Just brilliant!!!

  • Sleight of hand, Jump off the end. Into a clear lake, No one around. Just dragonflies, Flying to the side. No one gets hurt, You're doing nothing wrong. Slide your hand, Jump off the end. The water's clear and innocent. The water's clear and innocent
  • damn that was so beautiful I'm literally speechless.

  • most hypnotic song ever made?

  • @knightschwartz yes..i completely agree..

  • Uff increible..

  • masterpiece!

  • thumbs up for max msp at the start

  • It's not about how simple it is, anyone who writes songs knows that it is harder to write a great simple song that a great technical song. It's about being able to come up with the ideas, as simple as they may be. It's about the song writing journey. Simple is hard.

  • I hope my neighbors like this song.

  • @VanillaSnow23 ...like a lot of time? :-)

  • @VanillaSnow23 hahahaha! I hope my two 36" subwoofers and sixteen 4/12 cabs and neighborhood likes it XD

  • If you look at the sheet music, the chord structure, the bare bones... it is incredibly simple. Anyone can bang out those notes on the piano. But that guitar, the synth, electronics... that is anything but simple.

  • replay!

  • The song is so simple, but the very subtle touches are a thing of brilliance like a lot TKOL.

  • @YoshimizRobots this song is not simple, 9 out of 10 active musicians in todays industry could not perform this song, or any other Radiohead song for that matter. But I do understand where you're coming from. P.S. Flamings Lips are dope.

  • @michaelfeldman91 simplicty is the genius. it was not easily written, but it was written to be bare; simple

  • @BlackShallows Well put, sir.

  • @michaelfeldman91 oh, I gotcha. that is exactly what I was trying to say. (flips) Yes they are.

  • This song is what the replay button was invented for.

  • The best song on The King Of Limbs

  • @FRMadferit Possibly the only good song on the king of limbs...

  • @h879xx This and Lotusflower!

  • Even though my internet sucks and it takes about 20 minutes to buffer, I watch this in 1080p. I love every detail of this video. These guys are my musical heroes.

Pyramid Song used to be my favorite song ever and this is like an even better part 2.

And if you haven't checked it out yet, watch the Give Up the Ghost video. Unbelievable.

  • i press play, the clock stops and magic fills my room...

  • fuck

  • The water's clear and inocent, the water's clear and inocent... Jump off the end???

  • Max/Msp!!!

  • im jewish

  • codex is gold.

  • one of their best songs. as well as one of the best songs

  • so beautiful

  • I've listened to this song almost every day since the album came out, and it still hits me. This live performance is so intense it's overwhelming.

  • @LordGroundhog . . . Ditto

  • Saw them 2 years ago on a festival. Sigur Ros played with them. Mushrooms would've spoiled it.

  • Damn... I could swear this version is the one they used in the KOL cd... It's perfect! :o

  • this song should be called "right where i belong". just an opinion

  • sublime

  • PERFECT

  • The title is wrong..

    The song is called XEDOC.

  • @AnRTPgA urmm...i think the band is wrong neither it should be DEAHOIDAR...haha

  • There is a term in literary theory called Transcendentalism. I think that should also be a genre in music, because when I listen to 'Codex' I truly transcend into something larger than life; something that I cannot describe with words.

  • @th3infinit3 there is a word for that as well, it's called ineffable. Radiohead most certainly fits.

  • 2:39

  • You know how true and real this song is to the band when they play it. The emotion and effort in the song really shows through. Especially the way Thom sings it. At 1:38 you can really see Ed getting emotional as if the lyrics come from a deep dark place inside their hearts.
