@tienkampp.
Well guys, lets face the fact that this is of course a stupid pentatonic rock-shit solo, nothing more than a pan of noise, yeah this was the state of the art in the sixties, some kinda hendrikx-on-bass, no drugs or alcohol, you bet, hahaha, I also think that he fucked a lot of girls then... But Rinus was a good bassplayer when it's about playing basslines.
I don't get it. From the looks of some of those audience members, they didn't get it either. I guess generic feedback was considered a lot more amazing back then. Or perhaps the drugs were just better. I came here because I had read that they sometimes did a 45 minute version of this song and wondered how they could keep that going for so long. Now I think I know.
If you have the original Album "Eight Miles High" by Golden Earring...you'd appreciate Rinus's bass playing skill.....He is one of a few bass players who can play along with the guitar notes and not just the drums.
jesus !!! !!!! it's a shame :-( !!!!
Digitaliseren ajb.
Heh, it was the sixties, people like Jeff Berlin and Victor Wooten were in diapers. Doing a solo like that and you were THE MAN.
Gerritsen has admitted that seeing The Who live changed his life, they had a show going and Entwistle had this razor sharp sound from his Danelectro bass, Gerritsen decided that if it worked for Entwistle it would certainly work for him, 40 years on, Gerritsen STILL plays Danos

Just for the record, the bassplayer never used cocaine. The other guys in the band weren't that clean, but Rinus was.

He even never used alcohol and other drugs I heard.
