This drug shit is no joke. Iv been battling for 20 years. Rock N Roll & writing was my dream and drugs/alcohol stole that dream, ran & hid and along with it my sanity each time I used. Iv been in prisons, rehabs and asylums. People don't believe me when I tell them because Im articulate & intelligent and good looking. Im lucky in that regard but to me its not what matters. Im @ war daily with myself. My life is no where I dreamed it would be. Please, consider this when making the choice to use..
What an awesome Mother. She is doing so much good for so many people through the talents and memory of Layne, but you know her heart is burdened with so much hurt. An amazing woman. We miss you too Mike, Even though you were controlled by your addiction it wasn't hard to see you had a big heart.

Then guilt n shame come in and you begin using to stop feeling them emotions as well as the old-next thing you know your trying to survive as an addict in a world that doesn't accept you and your still using trying to fit in-quite insane really. I love Mike, but I wish Layne had stonger people around him at that time. His dad, his girlfriend, his friends...they all completely fucked him up. Even his mum, I think, should have done more. Fuck the "he didn't want to be helped" shit...the reason he became disillusioned is because he had tried rehab so many times & it didn't work because of the shit methadone clinics. But he was never like Cobain on a suicide mission. He never wanted to die like this. He was crying out for help...
I still think that Mike was so fucked up with is own addiction that, like everyone else in Layne's life, he was too concerned with using him and scoring off him at that time, so he probably didn't even realise what ws happening and what was right or wrong.
Layne was a lost cause. No one could have saved him. I mean, as far as Mike goes, who could say that would be the last time you ever saw him? I mean, you would probably just say to yourself, "Layne, I am so sick of your bullshit. Get real, man." and storm off, never thinking this would be the last time you'd ever see him.
Layne knew what the ending was going to be. He resigned himself to it, sadly. RIP Layne and I hope Mike's emotional scars get better with time.
This is very moving I just hope that it saves some lives. To see what Nancy is still going through and all the good she is bringing from losing Layne. Layne is with us in music and always will be. I just want to hug them both, Mike and Nancy x
I know he was way past saving at the end. I know the 13 rehab attemps. I know it all. But its so damn hard to accept that noone could save him. Its heartbreaking to think of him in his final months, all alone. Its heartbreaking to think of his mother talking to him as he lay dead on the couch.
Layne, you were a beautiful being, and I'm sorry that this was your fate. You gave so much to us, and you still do. Please be in peace. All we can do is cry for our loss and continue your legacy.

I had just been watching AIC videos for the past couple of hours, and gettng more and more emotional, and then I stumbled on this video. I have been crying hysterically for 15 minutes. The box of dust reference really got to me. To think that our legend, our inspiration, our beautiful soul Layne ended up like this kills me.
@illusenJ Layne was the one who introduced him to heroin & shot him up,he liked it then Kurt offered to shoot him up. then Layne gave him another dose which killed him temporarily.
Mike feels horrible, but there was really nothing he could do. When they found Layne, he was still clutching a full syringe of heroin. Layne was out to do himself in the night, and end the pain and suffering once and for all.
Layne was an incredible man who made some incredible music. His lyrics should speak volumes to anyone who has problems with addictions.
This was so sad, Mike needed to get that out in the open. Layne's mother shows her strength and compassion. Layne was loved so much and he tried so many times to get clean, and just couldn't. I certainly hope Mike can get clean and stay that way .
wow. this had to be an epiphany for Mike Starr to get all of that out. i can't imagine the guilt he has put on himself the last years. but the thing is Mike .. even if you had called 911, i believe Layne was already too far gone to recover. the damage to his organs, etc. was too great. and while he may have survived a little longer - i don't think he could have been saved. i hope you're doing okay Mike. been thinking about you a lot lately. He wrote 6 of the 13 songs on Dirt including Rooster (For his dad), Would (For his friend Andrew Wood who died in 90'), Them Bones (Lyrics and Music) and Down In A Hole. He wrote the lyrics and sung lead on 3 of the 4 singles on AIC. I think you need to go back to death metal SHIT and know a little bit more about a band before you start talking shit man.

Layne was a lost cause. No one could have saved him. I mean, as far as Mike goes, who could say that would be the last time you ever saw him? I mean, you would probably just say to yourself, "Layne, I am so sick of your bullshit. Get real, man." and storm off, never thinking this would be the last time you'd ever see him.
Layne knew what the ending was going to be. He resigned himself to it, sadly. RIP Layne and I hope Mike's emotional scars get better with time.

I know he was way past saving at the end. I know the 13 rehab attemps. I know it all. But its so damn hard to accept that noone could save him. Its heartbreaking to think of him in his final months, all alone. Its heartbreaking to think of his mother talking to him as he lay dead on the couch.
Layne, you were a beautiful being, and I'm sorry that this was your fate. You gave so much to us, and you still do. Please be in peace. All we can do is cry for our loss and continue your legacy.

Mike feels horrible, but there was really nothing he could do. When they found Layne, he was still clutching a full syringe of heroin. Layne was out to do himself in the night, and end the pain and suffering once and for all.
Layne was an incredible man who made some incredible music. His lyrics should speak volumes to anyone who has problems with addictions.

wow. this had to be an epiphany for Mike Starr to get all of that out. i can't imagine the guilt he has put on himself the last years. but the thing is Mike .. even if you had called 911, i believe Layne was already too far gone to recover. the damage to his organs, etc. was too great. and while he may have survived a little longer - i don't think he could have been saved. i hope you're doing okay Mike. been thinking about you a lot lately. @666Angelfuck Dude, Jerry wrote the lyrics for seven out of the 12 songs on Facelift and wrote ALL of the music for all but two songs on it. He wrote 6 of the 13 songs on Dirt including Rooster (For his dad), Would (For his friend Andrew Wood who died in 90'), Them Bones (Lyrics and Music) and Down In A Hole. He wrote the lyrics and sung lead on 3 of the 4 singles on AIC. I think you need to go back to death metal SHIT and know a little bit more about a band before you start talking shit man.
