Bit misleading, isn't it? There's no way you'd see most of these objects in nearly as much detail as suggested here. People will invariably be disappointed with the views they actually get through the scopes after seeing that.
You are quite right indeed, for one sees various degrees of black/white through the scopes, for the most part.
However our astrophotographers, who will be there on the night and actually took these pics, did so through these scopes, using imaging devices hooked up to the laptops for processing, as is clearly shown in the video.
If it is a clear night, and the atmosphere steady, perhaps we can show you how it's done.
