If I was going to start a radio station that my mom would listen to, that Greatest Hit Album would be a good place to start. But really--leading off with the "Hill Street Blues" theme? I thought it was a TV themes album at first.
Were those windsurfers windsurfing naked? And what was up with that odd blue color of the jeans? I don't think I've ever owned a pair of jeans quite that shade of blue.
I was born just three short months before these aired...and it is SO weird to see music collection infomercials featuring vinyl. Strange to think that this was the norm when I was a baby...makes me feel old.
EWF for Panasonic. I remember those Panasonic portable boombox with Ambience sound, I used to have once since I was a kid. Nice looking radio that you can carry. I remember hearding it outside on a nice day in New York City where people carrying those boombox with their Panasonic boombox with Ambience sound stereo. The music for this commercial was "Fantasy" by Earth, Wind & Fire. I have the Lp of that in my collection.
God, just hearing the term C.O.D. brings back memories. The fact that those were ever common is proof that we were living in a totally different world.
Soap commercials these days are like just watchin' a woman rubbin' it and latherin' up and then rinsing off, then she smiles and a product name comes up.
This one just seemed so... one-off.
I mean, she was really scrubbin' away. And she got in the shower way heck of fast.
Was that their way of using sex to sell a product? :P
@kittymow321 Dr. Hook's the name of a pop-rock band (not one person) who were actually pretty cool to listen to as Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show in the early 70's. After they dropped Medicine Show they changed their sound to soft rock to blend in w/the current soft rock/disco sound of the 70's.
In other words...Dr. Hook was NOT a pedophile...SILLY!
This was when he was clashing with David Geffen because he wasnt making albums that sounded "Neil Young" enough, so he recorded "Everybody's Rockin' " to really piss him off.
This volume is so clear for being 26 years old. Its is as old as i am. The eighties would be great to live through again. Well see what the next decade will bring.
I have to agree...from one 80's kid to another...it was a fun time to be a kid. No stress of Internet porn or the fear of having your picture taken of you in the changeroom at gym class and broadcast on Facebook...
What are those flat black things with the hole in the middle?
Seriously though. that was a great collection.

Any album containing "The Winner Takes It All", "The Tide is High" and "Believe It Or Not" can't be all bad.

Mountain King actually looks like a pretty cool game. I looked it up on Wikipedia and it sounds cool, too. A remake on the DS would be great.

You're right, they do look very clear. Wonder what tape it was recorded on or if the same tapes were compiled.
Also, is Music Television another way of saying MTV or another TV music station?
Fairia 2 years ago
Yeah, it's MTV: Music Televison.

Jeez... only a few months old when this was aired.
That "Harmonize a little longer" part of the big red song... sounded.. odd, really out of place. How long was it part of the jingle?
Pretty good selection of songs on that Album too.
Great collection as always.
enjime 2 years ago 4
"Harmonize a little longer" was probably just for that ad only. I haven't seen it in other Big Red ads.
I was -8 months old when these aired.

The 80's looked like an exciting time to experience. Too bad I was born in 1994. As I much as I liked the 90's, the 80's looks more exciting.
