This commercial, by Truth, says someone dies from smoking every 8 seconds. The Truth "Body Bags" commercial this videos links to says 1200 people a day die from smoking. Since there are 86,400 Seconds (60sec/min x 60min/hr x 24hrs./day = 86,400 sec/day) that means that a smoker dies every minute or 72 seconds to be exact (86,400sec/day / 1200 smokers/day = 72 sec/smoker).
Guess they couldn't afford a 8 min. spot!
I know smoking sucks but so does lying. Scare tactics don't work. Wise up.
@californiakingpin The 1200 per day is 1200 Americans per day. When they made this ad, the World Health Organization said one smoker died every 8 seconds in the world; now the WHO says a smoker dies every 6.5 seconds somewhere in the world.
How do you really know that tobacco alone causes a death every eight seconds? Maybe the people were doing harder drugs or eating fatty foods or had asma to begin with or inhaled asbestos or painted their bedroom and inhaled fumes or breathed the air where they work...etc.. etc.
