Debug glitches(them being called that) also clarify wether or not you want to use one on a speed run. I understand what you mean, it would be annoying, but what else are we going to call the debug glitches?
Also, in further that they should be called debug glitches, there are some, that, while they are debug and modifying it, they are certainly glitches. For example, when you cause the game to mess up so badly with the S box glitch that it turns back to Sonic and Knuckles. No one can deny that it is a glitch. We use debug to get it, but it is a glitch. A debug glitch.
First, we should call them debug glitches. That way we're all happy, since they are glitches(the game designers never meant the game to do that), but we the game ourselves to get them. Second, if, using level select, you take Sonic and Tails(has to be both) to Knuckles sky sanctuary, and die. Sometimes, your sprite is replaced with tails scrambled like sprite. You might have to get 3 Mecha sonics to do it(look it up)
You really are a shithead. I almost didn't notice your comment because you replied to someone else instead of me. Well fuck you. You're a debug user, and I actually played the game. You don't know shit about the very games you play.
You can do something similar with Debug Mode itself.
When you place one of those S boxes, and hit it, then enter debug mode again before you transform, the sprite becomes composed of the object you just were in debug. There are many color combinations for hyper sonic's after-image when combined with this glitch. Dark Super Sonic, for example, happens in the Sandopolis Zone. Happy experimenting.
if u think the glitches can only be done when using debug mode ur wrong. i got the genesis version to do it all the time. most of the time it was an accident. but the way i used to do it was
1. make a new save (so you've got no emeralds)
2. get to a special stage gold ring (it has to be under water)
3. wait until u get the count down of sonic or tails (have to be alone)
Watch videos of ORKAL or nineko. THEY have REAL glitches. Debug is basically a hack put on top of the game for testing purposes. It's fun to mess with the game with it, but PLEASE stop calling it glitches.
For the last time, glitches in debug mode are glitches. It's NOT a hack. It's included in the mass-produced ROM. If you think otherwise, that's your problem. If it were an actual hack, (other than a code to unlock it) then it wouldn't be a S3&K glitch.
I don't mean the "ROM hack" I mean "officially hacked onto the game by developers".
Debug mode was exclusively for testing purposes. A lot of impossible stuff will lead to something weird, because the game simply isn't designed to handle debug mode at all.
For the last time: glitches are when THE GAME does something wrong. Here, and in countless other debug oddities the game does nothing wrong, you just purposely mess it up.
Genesis can't handle all the possibilities, even if it tried.
He means that, when those of us who seek to learn about the game and new glitches for speedrunning purposes, it's annoying when people are running around in Debug mode and calling it "glitches" instead of "oversights"
Yes, debug mode is interesting and can be comical, but as it supersedes the intentional sequence of the game, it is, as he said, inconsequential.
Further, Debug mode is built into the game before most of the level design goes in...
Someone explained my points better than me. THANK YOU, Aitamen.
Actually, MAYBE I wouldn't be so mad, but not only it's wrong to call them glitches, it becomes hard to FIND real glitches due to masses of debug oversights called "glitches".
*Laughs* Remember, Muzo, that 90% of the people on the net aren't competitive players...
Further, since they aren't competitive, they're playing for fun... to be angry with them is unfair...
Remember, they too are gamers... and who are we to be angry with our brethren for enjoying the same things we enjoy, even if it is through a different facet...
Besides, I think you could've explained yourself far better if you weren't in such a rush due to your rage...
Nothing compared to the MISSINGNO glitch in pokemon.

use fraps to record, better framerate and has sound
OhNoNotMyPenis 2 years ago
It's your Rom or your Emulator that is bugged '-' It is not a glitch.

No sound = Fail
Debug Mode =/= Glitch = Double fail

Thanks for that! Will try it out soon.

I know this glitch worked on the genesis but on the other systems/pc. i don't know if it works

4. when it reaches 1 jump into the ring
If done correctly the spheres will change colour.

Cool, I'll try that.

With such a huge score that you could only have got it using debug mode?
No chance mate.
Gnargleherooftime 3 years ago
it's not a glitch if it takes things outside normal gameplay to create.
TheCheezWizz 3 years ago
Yes it is. Any Sonic 3 glitches are generally glitchey when they are using Debug mode, and not before.
Gnargleherooftime 3 years ago
...
TheCheezWizz 3 years ago
If that made sense. Which it didn't.
Basically what I'm saying is that all the Sonic 3 glitches only occur when using debug mode. There are none when you aren't using it.
Gnargleherooftime 3 years ago
No they don't. I already made one happen.
TheCheezWizz 3 years ago
None? Most ridiculous thing I have ever read!

Stop.

Uh, the developers can't really "hack" something in, unless you mean hack as in "quickly put in for testing purposes."

Hack means "to modify" so yes... it's hacking
