Semi-educated indeed, there is of course a difference between whiskeys and whiskies and bourbon and all that regionist crap :p but the "opposite" of blended whisky is single malt whisky. Blended whiskies exist in Scotland and blended whiskeys exist in Japan. Single malt whiskeys exist in Scotland and single malt whiskeys exist in Japan. The difference is the region and the sort. Get the info right.

I bartended for over 20 years, and there were a LOT of people who drank vodka straight shots. Obviously a bartender school grad, NOT a real drinker from experience. Go drink a lot first, then youll know whats what.

A martini is not straight vodka/gin. Straight vodka/gin is. A martini is vodka/gin with varying amounts of vermouth with an accent (olive, cocktail onion, what have you).
