Not sure about the Northstar unit, but, the Flowjet pump should have either a by~pass or a pressure sensor (shuts down at 35psi) so you can use a spray nozzle. If it lacks one or the other ( and some do) the pump will destroy itself if the outflow is closed. I have just modified a 32v Flowjet to run on an AC motor and wired the pressure switch to stop the motor when the spray nozzle is closed. BTW, the Flowjet can run~dry all day without any harm. Great little pump for my veggy garden
Hey, a quick question for you.... I am installing a rainwater collection system and want a 12v pump setup for running a sprinkler. Do you have any idea if it is alright for that pump to run continuously if the water output is turned off? Such as if we use a garden sprayer to water hanging baskets? Thanks!

Thank you for your comments and this Flojet model does have an automatic pressure switch and it works great so far.
