Happy days retreat is probably old and done with maybe renamed or gone. This was in 78 and he's telling his story in what year? So you have a huge gap there.
It's true, there is something in the Pilliga scrub between Coona & Narrabri. I've also seen something unexplainable in the Goonoo scrub between Mendooran & Dubbo, like a large black cat, kind of like a panther but not quite as big but too big to be a cat.
Bongo needs to head to bloomfields, nothing out there never has been, only the odd dumped body from crims traveling Melbourne to brisbane, maybe the odd dope plantation to, otherwise just shitty scrub, people hunt out there everyweekend why havent they been taken? ive ridden my motorbike all out that way been broken down for hours.. truckies are parked everywhere up the highway sleeping, its just some people like to let there imagination get the better of them or watch to many horror movies
I find myself getting similarly emotionally layered upon myself as I move back into the experiential immolate of my own Yowie incident whenever I relay it. I will oft stutter, slur, and stumble with my words as I relive the scene.
The bit about the legs is truly disturbing - wonder what the hairy fellow found appealing about them? Peculiar! He may have lost his mind and gone feral perhaps... happens in the human community - these creatures are more human than anything else after all.
Bongo sounds convincing. But I can't find any place known as "Happy Days Retreat" or sanitarium. Sent chills though regardless. I used to work with a bus driver who was a former truckie at Tamworth who insists that all the truckies in that district have stories about the stretch of road between Narrabri and Coonabarabran and none will stop there at night.
