So would you describe this (press 4th pin, pull out) as rakeing the lock... and if so, whats the method where you push down each of the 4 in their turn, starting at 4th and working slowly to 1st.

You could've used normal tools, but you went all out and used improvised tools: Torsion wrench from a pen cap, and a bobby pin for the actual pick. Accent made it interesting.

well you turn the lock upside down when you put the tension wrench in there so you push "up" on the 4th tumbler. I'm still working on my little bronze suitcase lock, the 3rd or 2nd tumbler in doesnt stay when i push on it.

door locks and pad locks dont use the same mechanisms but you can always try. I can pick a pad lock but I couldn't do a door lock.

well that bolt cutter thing may be true, but what if you were locked out of your house? are you gonna kick it down? most people would have their jackknife set with them just incase they forget their keys. i doubt boltcutters or your feet could get into a door lock or deadbolt without breaking the door or lock..
