  • @mrceebees14 would u ever wanted to be in the game like go in the digital game

  • @mquiroz90 No.

But I remember punching the game screen back then because the last tank shot me. : )

  • This game is hard as shit, unless you pratice all the time. Does anyone else notice how easy todays games are compared to the 80's? I used to spend an insane amount of money at the arcade. I remember the final level of Robocop wold eat up a least 5$. Not to mention Pacman!

  • go to musictronking to see fltron gameplay

  • The music is from the Tron movie, but yeah it sucks and takes away from the game.

  • good one at Tron

  • "This is blue leader to blue bikes, run these guys into your jetwalls!" "Copy, blue leader." "Copy, blue leader." "This is gold 1 to gold 2 and 3. Split up, take 'em one on one."

  • I first saw this when someone was making a tribute to Kraftwerk's Computer World. I didn't know those excerpts were actually from TRON. Although, there was a puppet dressed like a program.

  • WHERE CAN I PLAY this ONLINE???

  • @novaflo339 Yo can play it at Disney's website, under games. Choose "Classic Tron".

  • For an advanced version of a similar game, go to fltron dot com

  • The background music playing during the game footage is extremely annoying.

  • exclusive!

    original song and music video

made with anime & footage from the movie TRON

    youtube..com/watch?v=elN2TOYiM44

  • Great game and a great movie no matter what.

  • I love TRON, so glad a classic arcade near me still has it.

Does anyone happen to know what the name of the song playing in this video is? I know it plays in the movie during the first scene at Flynn's in the beginning, but it doesn't seem to be included on the soundtrack. Can anyone help? Thanks.

  • I was still on my dad's balls when he was playing this game !

  • @DigitalCyborgman I really hope you mean IN your dad's balls LMAO ROTF

  • @RichardWiggler05 NO I was ON my dad's ball...LOL

  • @DigitalCyborgman

lmfao @ on my dad's balls. GOOD SHIT.

  • what year was this game released? im gonna go buy the original tron dvd. i saw tron legacy in 3d and loved it. too bad its not still playing, i want to see it again in imax.

  • this and timekillers have got to be my favorite arcade games

  • The memory I have of entering the cave-like opening to a huge arcade in Toronto when I was but 6 and seeing the glow of the Tron joystick will be with me forever. I love the combination of light and music here to faithfully portray the movie.

  • people that want this game: check out mame32. program is able to run arcade games. my dad gave it to me when i was 4 and i still love all those old arcade games:D

  • Back then, the arcade games had much better graphics and play. So you had to spend mucho dinero on them even if you had console game at home. I'm afraid to even think how much I must have spent. And 25c had much more value, especially to a kid, since bazooka gum was 5c.

  • @beerrun - Yeah! But how much did you spend on it to be able to play all day with a quarter?

  • best game ever \o/

  • @SteelBeWithYou yeeeeee, ur seriously a fag, get a life dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • So... many ... memories.

  • @therealribbit i know man tell me about it what a legendary game

  • @therealribbit - I know what you mean. The last time I saw this game and heard that music/sound effects was in 1985. What a weird feeling.

  • @SteelBeWithYou just get it on xbox360 xblive arcade cheap play alday 1 time payment chaching

  • GUYS i know how you can PLAY light cycles with this guys just pause it when light cycles are about to start and put it on full screen and press arrow keys up and left and capture all the dots to have a larger line then play then youl bee playing with him!

  • I used to be able to play all day on this game for 1 quarter

  • @beerrun1970 Yep, a quarter used to go a long way back in those arcade days. I would get exhausted and loose track of time with like $1.50.

  • that would be so awesome to own this game cabinate im gonna look for it on ebay what a great classic game

  • I so wish I owned a cabinet of this!

  • wow video games are progressing so well, its amazing how far we have gone from these old games!

  • pause at 0:00, Hold left arrow then up arrow... snake?

  • @rustlerbadass OH!! I didn't know they were still doing that!!

  • Whoa!! U rock!!!

  • The only reason I got hooked on this classic game of the past, was by the brilliant sound effects that it has.I used up many coins in playing this!! =)

  • you played that game at FLYNN's ???

  • Wow...what a blast from the past....I loved this game back in the early 80's...thanks for the post.

  • oh how i miss games like this!!!

  • I have a question (sorry for my ignorance btw) is this game based on the movie or is the movie based on this game :P?

  • @96jortega im not quite sur but i think the movie is based on the game.

  • where can you find that game?

  • I've only played this arcade 2 times but in retrospect it looks like a rip-off of Combat & Phoenix.

  • Love this game! is there a way i can play on my computer? please awnser

  • @coolanthony57 MAME emulator.

  • @Tigerman1138 thanks but i dont know how to use mame so ill just download demo on xbox live thanks still! :)

  • @coolanthony57 It's really not hard, but I will say this: Since the arcade game has a analog knob which you turned to aim on the MCP level, tank level, AND spider level....and I don't know how MAME does that...maybe you're better off without it.

  • @coolanthony57 there is

  • @SteelBeWithYou LOL, check out our Tron light cycle stop motion when you get the chance, we really tried to pay homage to the original! plus LA Times did a feature on it, so it can't be too bad right?

  • This game was shown in Tron Legacy. The main reason I watched this was to see footage of the actual machine in action!

  • @iDuckFilms don`t u agree it was a good movie remember the fat cop

  • pacman tanks

  • Check out my review of Tron game on an 80's TV programme called Freetime. Who says games have got better? :))

  • Is there an entrance to a secret passageway behind that Tron arcade gaming machine?

  • Ahhhh, the joy of wasting laundry quarters in the 80's.

  • @earnestf even tho arcades going out going out in game systems like xbox ps3 do u own any

  • Thanks for the primer here. It will help at ground kontrol this coming Wednesday.

  • Was one of my faves back then.

  • Good gameplay, but could have been better without the added music! :(

Woud have preferred to hear the in-game sounds myself.

  • tHIS GAME IS BETTER TEHN THE ACTUAL.

  • The sounds of different levels bring back so many memories!

  • i bet everyone commenting here is above the 30s like me

  • @karlvinland

Yep... 37 here. My grandmother took me to see the movie when it came out in theaters. In fact, my 13 year old is watching the DVD right now, excited to see the new movie.

  • if anyone knows how to make this game with visual basic 2008 please message me with what i will need I would have the best final exam game this trimester.

  • On the Grid Bug stage, enter exacltly on 99!!!

  • Was Tron a movie before an arcade game or vise versa?

  • @TheMorningshadows it was a movie first and a bunch of video games were made Two Arcade games and Three home video games in 1982 and 1983 at the time the film was released.

  • @TheMorningshadows

    Game based on movie.

But someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I distinctly remember playing the motorcycle level on my PC when I was a kid,so was there like a copy-cat game or actual Tron game with just the motorbike levels?

  • Thanks for the awesome vid!

  • Like this video? Are you kidding?! I likey SOOOOO MUCH

  • God that music brings back memories. I always waved goodbye to the spiders lol.

  • Tron Dream Arcade Machine...

    youtube.com/watch?v=fDrFwV-aMSc

  • Very cool that you added that track from the tron movie, gives It a nice touch!

    That's from journey?

  • I can almost smell the pizza!

  • I play Tron in that fabulous cabinet :P

  • I remember playing this game. this takes me back. I also remember going to see the movie when it first came out.

  • when lit it was the best looking video game of all.

  • Man, you ROCK at that game!!

  • Getting to choose what level you would like to go to first reminds me of the Journey Arcade

  • woah this game really exist :D

  • One of my all time favorite games.

  • Whenever schools out, I need to play this again with some sort of 80's rock song in the backround...for authenticity.

  • I could get to level 8, then it was ridculously difficult.

  • what music is playing during the video? not the tron sounds but that guitar and drums thing.

  • @rodge2001 If im not mistaking, I believe that that is the theme that played in the Tron movie during the short sequence that took place in Flynn's arcade.

  • @rodge2001 I think it's Journey -- it's from the Tron soundtrack back in '82. Journey did one of the tracks I think? I also think this was the background music that was playing during the scenes in Flynn's Arcade.

  • awesome video. i never could get past the first level. these old games were unforgiving. imagine having to put money into your xbox when you die.

  • Recognizers first appear in the 5th tank level (SNOBOL). They don't shoot but they're very fast!

  • this games so hard haha

  • This was really cool to see again, I remember sticking a lot of quarters in this game back in the early 80's.

    Thanks for sharing. Fun flashback

  • weirdest flashback ever

  • @MotionSickness666 Why have you go the number of the beast in your name?

  • @NIStreakz why would you ask me that.. out of every single person on youtube

  • @MotionSickness666 Because i'm curious

  • Gee, the sounds of this game just flash me back to 1982-83 at the old bowling alley in Miramichi, NB. I remember having high score on that machine (almost 600,00), the day I got that score, the place closed for supper between 5-6pm, the worker stayed late to let me run up the score but he had to go home and eat, so I basically lost 2 men on purpose, always wondered if I could have made a million. Good times, good times. A good friend and I made our own pattern book as we learned the levels.

  • Oh I have no clue. I haven't played that game in about 20 something years lol. I cant remember but I know I loved the game. And the cool blue joy stick

  • I don't remember the game being this easy ! :)

  • It is not easy when you first play it, but once you get the hang of it it becomes easy. I was not good at thid game when I first played it back when it was new, but almost a year later I became better, and at times I could reach level 3

  • GREAT now i want to find the game and play LOL

  • it sounds like they ripped off the music from metroid lol

  • vice-versa, this came out first.

  • Wow, thanks so much for the video. Super awesome. I love the sounds of all the other nearby videogames, especially the oh so familiar tune at 1:45 :)

Whoever was playing this was kicking ass. Nice!

  • Man very nice. This took me back. I had forgot all the sound effects on this game. Brought back good memories. I used to love hitting the arcade when I was little. I would go to mall mom would go shopping and my friend and I would stay in there for hours on $5-10

  • Back when games were just 25 cents. What a time to be alive.

  • @vigo894

    Yes!

Now Arcade Games are about 50 to 75 cents. Rediculous.

  • @Gig540 Now its 5$ on xbox live for the whole game haha

  • Ah nice! Wish it was for PS3. I would like to give it a shot again and see how far I can get now haha

  • Whats the furthest you have reached?

  • felt like i was playing at the arcade on the pier way back, except back then i would keep getting my arms shocked when i had come in from the ocean on the four screws that were around the joystick.

  • nice job

had a great '80s sound and feel

    thanks

  • AUUUGH u f***ing broke my ears!!! nice vid but i had to cut the sound to avoid medical issues... x)

  • On level one light cycle if your quick enough to turn right and up the yellow light cycle will not have a chance to turn.

  • omg! This takes me right back to 1983 being 14 and putting more money in this game than I actually earned on my paper round! Drove my friends mad I did! Highly addictive now as it was then...love it...How I miss those days...

  • Brings Back Alot Of Memories!

  • i loved playing this game when i was a kid in the 80's i miss those old arcade rooms

  • great memories...this was one of my favorite games

  • i love the light cycles

  • memories! just take your own crappy music out if you post classics like this!!

  • Of course you don't recognize the music being played? DO YOU?

  • can this game be beaten, or does it just go on forever? as a kid i remember getting to level 12 or higher.

  • man that guy shooting stuff reminds me of the old and i mean OLD oragan trail game that i used to play in grade school... i think the pc was like a comador 64...

  • Oregon? As in the 33rd state of United States of America, and the trail that settlers used to immigrate there?

Way to go in school buddy.

  • Great, but cut the extra bk music already... totally unnecessary! If you want to make a good video, be genuine, not gimmicky.

  • This is one of the few vids on youtube where I don't mind the music. Without the music it would be... well just another vid in this case and this case only. Plus it's not overpowering.

  • I always thought the goal of MPC cone was to get the gold at the top...

Or maybe I thought it was popcorn.

  • Yah, let's see the highest possible level here!

  • lol you are so shit

  • Fuck you better than anything you could make.

For it's time it was legendary, and even today the gameplay is epic.

  • terrible game. i mastered this in 8th grade on my 5th quarter. too simple. i moved on.

  • give yourself a pat on the back for figuring out how to uninstall the game, then, faget.

  • Could you please do levels 6 to 12?

  • Hell, do you know what you're asking? By level 8 or 9, you need supernatural reaction time. Fine when you're twelve. Not so fine 25 years later.

One extra life, no continues. Go figure.

  • Tron is amazing

  • On the grid bugs level, after entering the cone. I twist the knob back and forth so it looks like Tron is wacking off.

  • Easter Eggs:

On the first level: How do you get the opportunity to shoot two discs at a time, instead of one disc at a time, for the mcp cone with moving walls or the spider grid-bugs stage?

  • VoxVid I'm still enjoying this a year after I first discovered it and left comments...a treat to watch at any time :D

  • I figure I ought to post the skip level procedure for this machine:

    - Open the front door to the cabinet.

    - Press the red credit button (inside the door frame).

    - Press Player 1 Start button.

    - Flick the switch inside the door frame to Test Mode.

    - Use the Player 2 Start button to advance to the level that you want to begin at.

    - Flick the switch back to normal mode before the game ends.

If you guys haven't seen the new movie trailer yet, try Googling for "TR2N bootleg"

  • Tr2n WILL BE AWSOME!!!!! It looks so slick, its......its....orgasmic!

  • Thanks for the memories! And thats of an American opinion!!!!!

  • Song?

  • I sucked at this game. Never did maket it to Moses.

  • Wouldn't it be absolutely great if someone could produce this on a compilation game disc for the PS2,PS3,etc??!? I've got a PS2 so I would prefer that version.

  • I remember playing this game many many years ago,and I really got hooked on it.I actually completed several times until it started to get a bit tricky.Really cool game!!

I find it a bit sad that amusement arcades with old games like this are really hard to find.I was brought up on these retro games, and I'm still hooked on them.I've got a few compilation PS2/PS1 game discs.

  • I remember seeing the film opening weekend and right after the film's first showing, they just delivered the game in the theater's lobby. Needless to say the line to play was enormous but every one generously got their turn to be the movie's hero.

  • Good memories on this game..haven't seen it in 25 years. Would love to play it again. It was always those friggin' light cycles that got me.

  • I could never clear the second board. Now this dude makes it look hella easy.

  • omg! I loved this game! I remember waiting at the local Bally's for it to arrive one morning. Played it about 64k times that year. I was the best at it (actually that is not too hard once you learn the patterns and tricks). Damn I miss the 1980's!

  • we all miss the 80's and the magic of those arcades, where, when I think about it now, child molesters were probably lurking watching me... still it was worth it... dimly lit pleasures...

  • I used to play this with my dad back in the day... memories

  • played the game, saw teh movie in the theatres in 1982. I also owned all the game that intelevision came out with. If you wanna see the sequal to this movie by TRON 2.0 as it continues the story and you actually get to be part of it.

  • This one was a true and genuine favorite of mine even years later. I would go to High Voltage Arcade to play this one for only a nickel and loved every moment of it!

  • YEAH! I LOVE THIS GAME!

  • i played this game 378939 times.. i love it

  • i play Gltron with my father every night. its fun, we play hours with that. armagetron isnt as good i think. no small 2d map and too complicated, but ivegot that too.

  • I remember playing this game in the arcade back in the day. I loved the look of the cabinet since it was reminiscent of the movie and the game was fun too. I have the 20th anniversary DVD and plan to get the Tron 2.0 game soon

  • I loved the game as a kid, and I remember seeing the movie when it came out when I was 12. I watched the whole movie with my mouth agape in amazement! I am watching the 25th anniversary DVD of TRON as we speak!

  • I'm sorry, I meant 20th anniversary DVD of TRON. Not 25th.

  • good memories mate the groaning tune when landing on the tanks stages on the arcade game scared the shit out of me ha ha

  • Great game, my best score was 786000 points in 1984.

Very good video and thx for select this game.

    Saludos desde Chile

  • Tron was a brilliant game, i remember playing it too. is there anywhere i could buy it or download it for the Pc? I also remember Robotron and Cosmic Geurillas. Cosmic Geurillas was like Space Invaders, except they came from each side of the screen. Also Table Top Galaxians was great, your pint could sit on the table no probs, unlike balancing it on the sloped stand up vers...great days!!!....Bang, hell av spilled a beer ;)...runaway...end of line.

  • You forgot to wrap it up with "End of line"
