I used to own a 62 Sparkle Jet. Bought it in 73 from the want ads for $50 when I was a kid. Loved it, but had to let it go in the early 90's. The offer was too good - $2,500 (which at that time was a lot of cash for a guitar). The broker told me it went to Joe Perry's collection. I miss playing it though. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
]Wow, it's so pretty and it sounds sooo nice! I love gretsches, but i recently discovered supros i am in love with the supro martinique <3 vintage guitars are the best.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share these guitars! Yours is the ONLY video on YouTube which covers this particular guitar, and I got a lot out of it. Thanks again!
I played one of those at Guitar Center in San Diego!!! Same color but with a bigsby instead of a burns vibrato. Really great feel and sound from a 62 guitar. It had a great AC/DC and rockabilly tone!!! It was a great experience but couldn't afford it obviously... I like your demos of the guitar though. pretty cool.
@friskyisfat Well, that is a sterotype. I'm not into "posing" for one thing. Plus, have you ever seen/heard a master like Pat Martino play? Not one facial expression, you need to see some real players who play, and don't need to pose....My videos are demos, that's it. I'm not trying to play a masterpiece. Plus, don't mistake "boredom" for sleep deprivation and exhaustion. When you get a job, and have a family, you will know what I mean.... :)
@MrVintagemusic Haha it's just when I play I can't help myself from making awkward faces and lunging my body around and I've yet to find 1 person with 'oriental' background (my attempt at being more culturally sensitive) that really FEELS the music...but yes. I agree...sleep deprivation and a family can totally throw you off your game. I wanna see some footage of you in your teens jamming out on stage :P.
@MrVintagemusic that is all very true, but the only contradiction is that rock and roll is about showmanship and the raw energy, but obviously you are not putting on a concert haha i truly enjoy your demos, keep them up.... i also have a quick question, where do you get your guitars? or do you just acquire them over time?
@MrVintagemusic, ever notice how the people who just have to have a negative comment and try the hardest to be jerks for no reason NEVER seem to have any videos of their own playing posted? LOL Keep on doing it the way you do it and let the haters hate :)
Its an amazing guitar, and the finish is fantastic, but the distortion for the AC/DC is all wrong. Malcolm doesnt use any distortion, and is a really clean, snappy player. but MAN i want that guitar
Just a little detail, with a JTM 45 (from '65 plus ! Angus' favorite amp !)
and that nice Gretsch Jet, I'm pretty sure that you can nail the tone..
But you do a mistake that a lot of people are doing when playing AC/DC songs,
you put a LOT too much gain and a little too much bass too... You know, Malcolm's tone is just about the breakup of his '66 JTM 45/100 or JMP Superbass amp..
Hi there! Great video! What are your thoughts on the "new" Gretsch Sparkle Jets? Guitar Center has a few and I am considering one. I'd like to know your thoughts. Yay? Nay? Thanks!
That's so cool

I do think that if you play AC/DC with a wooden flute, that you would still recognise it as being AC/DC. Just my opinion.

Good Video.... But try to look a little happier... you look too stern! At least relax your facial muscles a bit.

PLEASE try and FEEL the music. You look like you're bored when you play guitar. I hate to throw out this stereotype but why do asians do this?!?!
