Bill Staines will be playing a free concert at BIg Spring park near Van Buren, Missouri on June 14, 2011 at 7:30. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for this free concert on the banks fo the Current River. See you there!
This song has special meaning for me. We had it played at the funeral of both my wife and my oldest son who both died very early. The entire congregation was weeping when we all joined in the song. The river lyrics capture their lives exceedingly well.

Such a wonderful song and performed by such talented singers.
I also really like folk singer, Priscilla Herdman's version. Her voice is beautiful.
Really worth a listen to try and find Priscilla's cover. I have it on one of her CD's. In concert she often mentions Bill Staines.

I first heard this song performed by Mason Williams live at eLaw in Eugene, Oregon in 1986. I've loved it ever since.
