yes but it is overly honorific no one uses it only on the tv do they say that. like when the lottery starts they say hello and welcome (in england) ahyubowan is the sinhaese version but no one uses it in common everyday life

SLS has a program with 33 cassettes (something like thirty hours of audio)!!!!!! Have you not tried Colloquial Sinhalese or FSI (FSI is free btw)?

Hey, I would definitely like to see what observations you've come across, I know even less than you do about sinhala, but I'm trying to make some great strides in my linguistic develop by Christmas 2010, because I too will be going on a trip and spending about a month in Sri Lanka.
