Avro Manhattan (1914--1990) was a writer and philosopher, primarily known for his criticisms of the Roman Catholic Church (see anti-Catholicism). Having covered various political topics throughout his career, Manhattan is perhaps best remembered as the author of several works analyzing the Vatican's role in world politics and global affairs.
I recommend to you to read the book of revelation 17 and tell me if whos church there was being introduced to John which called the great harlot.. Pls try to research more so you will know if how much the catholic church persecuted those people who has the holy bible and burn them in their plaza or they feed them to the lions.
"Mary was preparing my heart to be introduced to her son."
It makes me so sad that a person would say that. Even if they think of Mary as a deity, and I respect what they believe, but God might be so sad about a comment like that. Mary was a good woman, but she was human. She had other sons after she had Jesus and if she had other sons after Jesus, that means she had sexual intercourse, and if she had sex, she definitely was human and sinned. God is the only one who prepares somebody's heart.
@jgallete: There is nothing wrong with saying that though. Catholics believe that Mary and the early saints/martyrs are alive in the same way as we are alive here on earth, but just in heaven. We consider them to be our friends within the living body of Christ. A friend of Christ, such as a pastor/priest, can prepare you to meet Christ by reading you His Word. Catholics don't believe that Mary ever had other children since Jesus didn't give care of his mother to one of his brothers as he died.
@jgallete: Why would Jesus give care of his mother to a person unrelated of him if he actually had brothers?
Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, here is your son.’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.
@RockyBalboa211 - Why would he do that? I don't know, I'll ask him when I get to heaven lol. While I'm not there yet, I can guess why he did that. The disciples were closer to him than the other sons and daughters of Mary and Joseph, so it's obvious why he chose one of the disciples to take care of her at that moment.
@RockyBalboa211 - The problem is, you got your church saying that Mary was a married virgin her whole life, so you cannot believe she had other sons and you have the Bible saying that Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus but did have other sons and daughters after Him.
@RockyBalboa211 - "Is not this the carpenter's son?," the Jews asked, "is not his mother called Mary? And his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are thy not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?" (Matt. 13: 55, 56)
These Jews from that synagogue were offended in Jesus and didn't believe in Him, they didn't refer to Jesus' followers as brothers and sisters (as Christians do). They literally meant brothers and sisters.
@jgallete In Jewish culture, if someone was an only child (which is my position), his most immediate relatives (cousins) were legally and culturally considered to be siblings though. English can convey a more limited meaning than the Biblical language calls for. Brethren/Brothers can mean "actual brothers" (Your position), countrymen, "cousins" (My position), or "previous children of Joseph" (The orthodox position). James is called a "brother of Jesus", yet his father wasn't Joseph.
Even now in Eastern cultures, we have this wider view of ''brothers'' and ''sisters''. I am of the Syro Malabar Catholic Church from South West India. Majority of us call each other brother and sisters. Infact these title are to everyone irrespective of wether we know them or not, irrespective of if they are Christians or not. I infact call my younger cousin sister as ''aniyathi'' or younger sister since we have different titles depending on the age. God bless U.
@RockyBalboa211 - I know that the Catholic doctrine it's supposed to be infallible to you, but the Bible just affirms that Jesus had brothers as a fact, it's so obvious that it should not be debated. Here's another verse: "Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?...
@jgallete: The terms "brothers," "brother," and "sister" did not refer only to close relatives. Sometimes they meant kinsmen (Deut. 23:7; Neh. 5:7; Jer. 34:9), as in the reference to the forty-two "brethren" of King Azariah (2 Kgs. 10:13–14). Jesus grew up in Nazareth, and the people of Nazareth referred to him as "the son of Mary" (Mark 6:3), not as "a son of Mary."
@RockyBalboa211 - I don't really see why you won't admit Jesus had actual brothers, that doesn't take anything away from His identity as the Son of God (3:16).
@jgallete: But His not having brothers doesn't take away from His Identity either. I'm sorry for my tone in my earlier response. Overall, we have differences in our views of the bible. I promise though that I will try to find more info so that I can be saved. I thank you for helping me understand your point of view, and hopefully it will help me understand the truth of God's Word. I don't consider Mary my God, but I do think Jesus loved her. I strive to love her in the same way Jesus loved her.
@RockyBalboa211 - Yep. I'm sure sure Jesus loved her and I love her as well. Mary was the greatest woman that ever lived. I wanna be the first one to hug her when I get to heaven. I would never pray to her or bow before her image but that's just the differences in our views of the Bible.
What matters is that we share the great and pure love to the great God almighty, He is the joy of my life.
@RockyBalboa211 - ...And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother."
On these verses you have Mary and her sons outside, and Jesus inside comparing that the disciples in the same way are His brother, and sister and mother.
The Roman Catholic Church teaches unbiblical doctorines like the Age of Accountability and celebrates Pagan holidays Like Christmas and Easter Also pray to Saints and Mary which is completely unbiblical.
@QNELSON2 thats all fine but if your a teenager you should try that conference hes talkin about because i guarantee that you'll find a deeper love with God and Jesus through it
@QNELSON2 I get what you`re saying, but please understand this. Although it seems like religion is counterproductive, we all have one goal in mind: to get to heaven. Religions are made as a guide to get you there. If you have no set of guidelines and just hope He comes to you, how can you earn the privilege of making it to His heavenly dweeling? If you don`t pursue a relationship, why should He, in all His glory, welcome an unrepentant sinner to his most precious kingdom?
@QNELSON2 I`m sorry you feel that way. But instead of insulting other religions, you should try to find the truth and stop spewing nonsensical remarks. Brain Death is pretty self explanatory. If a brain is dead, it cannot think and therefore if you are brain dead, you can`t be in ANY religion.
@theoriginalfosho THE HUMAN RACE SHOULD STOP HAVING ALL THESE IDOLS AND GODS AND BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES. All religions are wrong. God exists but he/she is far from reaching humans and humans are far from reaching him. EVERYBODY IS LOOKING FOR GOD IN HE WRONG PLACE. STOP LOOKING FOR HIM. he will show up. NOBODY KNOWS HOW, OR WHEN
Just come and see, learn, and you'll find the truth. As long as your faith just what like you think, you will not find the truth. You hear, but not hear, see but not see. I believe in Jesus Christ who are established the one true church universal (catolic) Because He promised He will be with His church untill the end of time, He will never break His promise. In His church there are the saint and sinner who seek the truth, but Jesus still with His Church. So come and see the truth.
@dradel52 You sound like a used car salesman. You know how they tell you all that's good, but don't let you check under to hood. SHOW ME THE JESUS FACTS! LOL
@soulsurcher : You say that Catolic church is a lie : THIS IS FACT : Jesus establish His chruch : (catolic church) in 33 AD. He promised be with His Church until the end time : a heretic Martin Luther established lutheran 1521, in a few later this church broken pieces to 1533 : Calvinis by Calvin : 1607 : Metodist : now there are almost about 33.000 denomination. Saying catolic church is a lie : you makes Jesus a Liar.? Who's teaching you believe : Church by Man or church Jesus?
@soulsurcher : Think : Who's teaching do you believe : Church established by man or by Jesus? Only Bible teaching you? the bible is tradition canonized by catholic church : THIS IS A FACT : History clearly said : PROTESTANT CHURCH established by Luther : base on bible and Luther teaching!
@dradel52 Tell me, how are these things you mention relevant to salvation? So this is what you believe? You're ok with none of the catholic church practices being mentioned in the bible? That's fine with you? Well that's not fine with me, but if it's fine with you. Then I'll let you continue in your life of faith in God,Rom12:3"as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." I wish you well. It's not your faith in God that I question. It's the catholic religion as whole that I question.
@soulsurcher - My friend, how is is that you think that none of the Catholic Church practices are in the Bible??
This shows that you either do not know much about the Church that you know nothing about the Bible. The Catholic Church is not a bible based church -- The Catholic Church is a church that the Bible was based on. In other words, all of the Catholic Church practices are in the Bible, just ask a priest to walk you through it. God bless you.
@soulsurcher (1 of 2) I'm fine with Catholic teachings, beliefs, and practices that aren't found in the Bible because Jesus never promised me a Bible, but He did found a Church that He gave His authority to. And He said the Holy Spirit would guide Her into all the truth. And He told Her to teach. And He also said that if I don't listen to Her, I'm not listening to Him. And the Bible nowhere says that everything I need to know and believe and accept as true is in the Bible. Speaking of that,…
@soulsurcher (2 of 2) ...the Bible nowhere lists the books that make up the Bible, neither does it tell me what tests a book should be put through to determine whether or not that book should be in the Bible. But the Church Jesus founded did. The Church gave me the Bible! The Church produced the Bible in order to help Her fulfill Her role as Teacher. And She says She didn't put everything in the Bible. I believe Jesus, and I believe His Church.
@crimini001 Have you read the whole bible through and through. If so you can clearly see how the inspired Word of God leads a person from Gen through Rev, directly to Jesus. From repentence to baptism, Acts 2:38. From to the Holy Ghost to salvationt! Acts 1:8, Acts 2:38, Acts 19:6 "And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied." This is the Door! Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life. I don't have to go anywhere else.
@soulsurcher "Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life. I don't have to go anywhere else." Becoming part of the Church He founded is not going anywhere else. It is joining yourself to His Body. His Body is entrusted with His authority. To reject His Church is to disobey Him and to rebel against His kingdom. Hebrews 13:17 is a direct command to obey the spiritual leaders He authorized. Those leaders are the Bishops of the Church.
@crimini001 The Church is Jesus and nothing else. You can't add anything to Jesus, because he is one. You don't make prayers to anyone else. You don't bow in worship to anything other then Jesus, because he is the Father, and he is the Son, he is the Holy Ghost and all these three are one. The more you absorb the Word of God the more this truth becomes a part of you. Catholosism and it's traditions will not do it for you. It's all in the Word of God, because Jesus is the Word made flesh Jhn 1:14
@soulsurcher The Church is Jesus's Bride. She is mystically made up of all those who are in Christ. Physically, She is manifested in that Body of believers who are under the authority of the bishops in the Apostolic* Line of Succession. The teaching that Jesus is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost is heresy. *Not to be confused with Oneness Pentecostals.
@soulsurcher (1 of 2) "It's all in the Word of God..." No, it isn't. Nowhere does the Bible say everything we need to know and believe is in the Bible, neither does the Bible say that it alone is sufficient for the believer. The unanimous testimony of the Early Church tells us that not everything Jesus and the Apostles taught was put into the Bible. So we have the witness of Scripture and the witness of the Early Church that we as Christians need more than just the Bible. Indeed, the Bible...
@crimini001 I am Oneness. Yes the church is the bride, but Jesus is the Holy Ghost who dwells in the bride through the infilling of the Holy Ghost by evidence with speaking with other tongues. This is available to all who call on the name of Jesus and ask for the Holy Ghost even you. Paul spoke with tongues1 Corinthians 14:18 "I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all" "But I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers" Acts 24:14
@crimini001 I believe God is a great big God who doesn't need anyones help. Not your's, not mine or anyones help for that matter. I don't believe for one minute that God who is infallible can make a mistake, and I don't think you do either. To say his Word, which is the bible, isn't all we need, is saying that God made a mistake. No, sir. The Words of the bible are perfect, sent down from heaven above. It is light for your darkness.Tell me, what words could you give that would offer more?
@soulsurcher "To say his Word, which is the bible, isn't all we need, is saying that God made a mistake." Once more, the Bible never says it's all we need, and the Early Church also tells us it's not all we need. The Bible never records Jesus telling us He'd give us a book as our teacher, but the Bible does record Jesus telling us He'd give us a Church as our teacher.
@crimini001 My point is God doesn't make mistakes, and he wants everyone to come to repentence. John 3:15
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Whosoever, meaning any Tom, Dick or Larry who wants to know Jesus can come boldy before the throne of grace. No one has to go through the rituals that the catholic church puts you through. You can find all you need in the Words of the bible. I don't believe God made it to be complicated, but he gave it unto babes.
@crimini001 Psalm 8:2 "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger." Matthew 21:16 "And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?" Babes, unlearned, ignorant, yet made strong through the power of the Holy Ghost, which is Jesus manifest. 1Tim 3:16 God was manifest in the flesh
@soulsurcher (2 of 2) ...points Christians to the Church as having authority (Matt. 18:17, Luke 10:16, I Thes. 5:12-13, Heb. 13:17, et al), and as the teacher of Christian truth (Eph. 4:11-13, I Tim. 3:2, et al). And, once again, so does the unanimous testimony of the Early Church. To believe anything else is inconsistent with Scripture and Christian History.
@crimini001 Answer me this question. Who do you put your faith in? In Jesus or a catholic priest who shouldn't even be called priest, because Jesus did away with the priesthood when he died on the cross. Heb 9:11 "But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building" Not of this building meaning not of men. You don't read anywhere else of any of the apostles being called priest.
@crimini001 What's inconsistant is how the catholic church has gone from one way of practicing religion to alternate ways, because what God is doing in the world. He's pouring out his Spirit! Catholics are recieving the Holy Ghost! You now have what is called the Catholic Charismatic Renewal! Hey I'm not knocking it. it's wonderful to see catholics speaking in tongues, but be careful who you call inconsistant. I only know one way and it's found written in the bible. Jesus is the way, truth, life
@crimini001 In Gen he is the promise, and the priest without beginning or end. In Exodus he is the, I am that I am, and great deliverer, In Leviticus he is the High Priest, In numbers he is the captian of the armies of Israel, In Duet "the Lord our God is One Lord". In Joshua he is God, the ruler of all the earth, and over all the kings of the land. In 1 and 2Kings he is the King of kings and Lord of lords. In Ruth he is the kinsman redeemer. In 1 and 2Sam he is the one who looks on the heart.
@crimini001 I missed 1 and 2Chronicles where he is the aw inspiring King, omniscient, and Omnipresent! In Ezra he is our foundation, In Nehemiah 1&2 he is the repairer of the breech. In Esther he is the answer to our prayers. In Job he is the blessed Lord who gives and takes away. In Psalms he is forever merciful. In Prov he is Wisdom unto all mankind. In Ecclesiastes he is the Preacher. In the Song of Solomon he is the lilly of the valley. In Isaiah he is the the Father and the Son Isaiah 9:6..
You know what's sad? There are so many videos on YouTube showing the world how the Catholic church is a lie. If you read your bibles you can see how the Catholic religion and it's practices are unbiblical. You can also see in the word of God how these catholic religious practices do no pertain to scripture or salvation. If you ask a catholic why? Then your referred to some history book or video for a lesson on Catholicism. In which both the video or lesson are not backed up by scripture
@soulsurcher : come and join, learn about catolic. What do you think about catolic, it's not catolic in fact. You know the different between christian catolic and non catolic? Catolic does not like to think how the believer non catolic church do. Catolic visioner said the massage of God is only one : Repentant and Pray for the whole word. Believer non catolic always say that catolic is not christian, and their visioner always said the wrong of catolic. Never about praying for the whole world.
@dradel52 Who do you pray to? How do you pray? Did someone teach the prayer? Is it something you memorized out of a Catholic book. It sounds good. However, if people don't know what to pray or even know who to pray to. What good does it do to direct people to pray for the world? Repentence is good, but if people don't know how to repent what good does it do to direct people in that direction. Direction without instruction sounds like a blind man leading a blind man. You failed to mention faith.
i use to be a roman catholic but i decided to become an atheist but i still respect the catholic church...tried the crazy christian church with the weird christian rock music...didnt like it.
@ mrskarenkatz All churches can't be rule by Satan because the Holy Spirit guides Christ's Church which the early christians called Catholic. This Chrsit and HS leadership is found in the bible in Jesus own words Matt 16, 18 and 28; John16. And first in His church He still uses individuals; The Apostle; the bishop of Rome (Peter and his successors - the popes),
Oh wow, I heard him tell this story at Steubenville in 2009!!!! He had just been ordained and told this story to encourage other guys to consider the priesthood and to really be a part of the conference. Such a beautiful story, I love these videos, thanks for posting them :)
ALL CHURCHES are under the rule of satan at this time; 1 Peter 4:17 and 2 Thessalonians 2, among many other verses throughout the King James Bible. Remember God did not always have and use churches; first He used individuals like Noah and Moses, then it went to the nation of Israel, then it want to the churches in 33AD until 1988, when the church age ended. God is done with ALL CHURCHES, I REPEAT, ALL CHURCHES NOW RULED BY SATAN BY GOD'S PLAN. You can find all this in a King James Bible.
"ALL CHURCHES are under the rule of satan at this time"
hmm really ? And when exactly did "this time" start ? Can you give me a date for the starting for "this time" please ?
Also please explain the following
Matt 28:20 "and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.""
Please explain how Jesus was not lying if what you said about the "ALL CHURCHES" Satan story. Also how many Churches are there ? How many bodies does Christ have ? One, a zillion ?
"Explain to me in detail how these verses of scripture command the abolishment of the church. You see cause the last I checked the church is still around."
What are you talking about dude ? Where did I ever claim whatever it you wrote.. ? Sure you are responding to the correct comment ?
@mrskarenkatz That is the one the most rediculous things I've ever heard. If that was the truth then the bible would describe such truth to the church in detail. IPet4:17"For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" I think you are referring to 2Thes 2:7"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way."
@mrskarenkatz Explain to me in detail how these verses of scripture command the abolishment of the church. You see cause the last I checked the church is still around. Go to my channel and see. We are going to be taken out of the way. When? I don't know, but I do know how!1Cor15:52"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." This hasn't happened yet so you better get ready
Everyone check this out, God wants all of us to walk like this, and show His love and power to a broken world, Jesus is awesome!.......go to.... "Todd White - More Healing on the Streets".................... everyone loves Todd because of his passion towards the lord, He's been on Sid Roth's show........ He's just a normal guy who knows the Father's love!!!........... enjoy everyone!!!
@sweetsweatyfeet "1000 denominations each of which thinks THEY have a monopoly on the truth. "
Yes. It's a big problem. Jesus said he wanted his followers to be one, but Christianity is very divided against itself. That's why I'm sticking with the church Jesus himself founded, the Catholic church.
Does it follow that they're all wrong? No, it doesn't. In fact, if you are an atheist you are making a very bold claim. You're saying that when all these people say that there's a God, they're all categorically wrong. Whereas if you say you believe in God, you're making the much less presumptuous claim that at least one of these sects is at least a little right in some form.
@Jugglable As an atheist I make no claims, presumptions or assertions. Nor do I say "there is no god". I say there is no evidence for god(s) therefore no reason to believe. Atheism is a response position of no belief "when all these people say that there's a god" because none have met their burden of proof.
Therefore I don't take dogmatic positions of absolute certainty but rather ones open to modification should sound evidence be presented---just like the way the scientific method works.
@sweetsweatyfeet "Therefore I don't take dogmatic positions of absolute certainty but rather ones open to modification should sound evidence be presented"
I feel the same way. That's why I used to be an atheist, but as I began to look at the case for Christianity I changed my mind.
@Jugglable I am rather the opposite. I find the arguments against Christianity far more persuasive. Any case I've heard for Christianity only solidified my atheism. I guess that's the way the world goes around.
@sweetsweatyfeet The intellect is only one part of it. We human beings are not purely rational creatures. The beliefs we come to hold are also influenced by many factors outside of our conscious awareness. I think that in order for a belief system to be appealing intellectually, you usually also have to be open to it emotionally.
The fact that you believe God was a human being at one point that needed to do human being type activities like go to the washroom, eat, drink, sleep etc is ridiculous to me and every other logical person on earth. The fact that you believe God spent 9 months in Marys womb to me is unbelievable to the point of mental illness. This is God you are speaking about, and you are lowering Him to human status. You sick people worship a human, not God.
Lol you people are all retarded. Read the bible and tell me that is the entire word of God I dare you. Prophets drunk and having sex with married women, their own daughters in some cases and this is from God? You people need to learn what God really is/
ONLY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE TRUE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST, APOSTOLIC CHURCH PROVIDES ALL SACRAMENTS AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE - OF THE LIVING GOD - THE BREAD OF LIFE IN THE EUCHARIST!
WITH 2,000 YEARS OF TRADITION AND SACRIFICES TODAY WE KNOW WHAT THE BIBLE AND SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRIST IS.
MANY PROPHECIES AND VISIONARIES.
THE REAL MIRACLES, EFFECTIVE EXORCISMS, INCCORUPT BODIES OF SAINTS,
Matthew (28:19) was with Peter on the day of Pentecost (You know it's true)..what was Matthew doing .. (NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost)..no.. he was speaking in tongues and praising the one true God Jesus The Christ....because Matthew wasn't lost like you. Repent Jesus Loves YOU
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
The catholic church assisted with concentration camps during the holocaust. Seen the news lately? Look at the number of pedophiles who dress up in priest costumes, and how many times has the pope covered it up.. If I remember correctly, the catholic church could sell 20 of it's priceless paintings and end poverty in a few small countries. The crusades and the torture that took place in the name of jesus, the inquisition, slave trading, and the list goes on... Ya good people lol..
@DeathofAstar718 I'm sorry my friend but this religion doesn't make sense to many people. We have no way of truly knowing what Jesus taught. If you just simply believe anything holy books say, then why is the Bible more factual than the Bagvadhgita? The story of Jesus existed 600 years before his birth in the name of the Hindu God Krishna. Born of miraculous conception, real father was god, step-father was a carpenter, was quoted saying "I am the resurrection". Which is right and which is wrong?
@Jman0944 Yeah, and every resister to the Nazi Regime--including the guy who brought the bomb in--was either a person of the Protestant faith or a ROMAN CATHOLIC. Do your research, buddy--Pope Pius the 12th was responsible for saving so many jews that they made A SHRINE TO HIM. Also, all those Jesuits, Oscar Romero, Daniel Berrigan, all those people who died for the poor, all the martyrs, all those who live poverty WITH the poor for their sake. Do your homework before you open your mouth.
Pope Pius was that good. The Chief Rabbi of Rome. Anton Israel Zuller converted to Catholicism, after he studied and discovered The Catholic Church doctrines to be true.
@Jman0944 You haven't refuted anything. All you've done is shown that some Catholics have done some very bad things. We know. The same is true of Protestants, Jews and Muslims. We're human beings. If you're looking for a religion in which all its members are perfect, then you'll be looking for a long time.
Catechism of the Catholic Church page 34, paragrapgh 95....
95 "It is clear therefore that, in the supremely wise arrangement of God, sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture and the Magisterium of the Church are so connected and associated that one of them cannot stand without the others. Working together, each in its own way, under the action of the one Holy Spirit, they all contribute effectively to the salvation of souls."
For all those non-Catholics who keep thinking we worship our Holy Mother Mary and not Jesus/God, please stop! I am so tired of explaining this, so I'm not going to, someone had already done a good job explaining it. Jesus said if you deny my mother it means that you deny me as well.... Congratulations Fr. Mark! God Bless...
Jesus teaches us to Pray "Our Father". Our means that all human beings are brothers and sisters. Father teaches us that we are related from origin to Him. We acknowlegdge that He is our Father and Jesus is our brother. On the cross Jesus gives us everything including His Mother as our Mother. We are part of a living family.
I follow Jesus, and Jesus ONLY. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He died for my on the cross. I'm just saying that all these Catholics worship the dead and that isn't of God. What I mean is, worship of Mary who is Dead, and the Saints who are Dead, and the Pope... Well he still alive. But you get my point. Only worship GOD. Not all these human traditions. I am already saved... I also ask for forgiveness every day when I pray. Sir, whats a mongoloid? Never heard of one.
@Reavoltion (PART 1) You stated..."I'm just saying that all these Catholics worship the dead and that isn't of God." I see you never read Mathew 17:1-3, on the Mountain Of Transfiguration. This is where Christ prayed to a man who was dead. His name was Moses. You see, Christ conquered death. This means there is no separation between us and our loved ones in Heaven. They're more alive than you are on Earth. Your confusion has blinded you.
@baredd79 Jesus was talking to Moses and Elijah...He wasn't praying to them. Neither were Peter, James, or John praying to them. "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5) (cont.)
Whether Christ was praying OR talking to Moses on the mountain of transfiguration, Jesus was conversing to someone who is deceased. Protestant theology frowns upon prayer to the dead. Jews pray to the deceased. Your version of Jesus is selfish. We are supposed to share in Christ's glory. Christ gave us his mother on the cross, and Intercessory prayer IS valid in the Bible, read Rev. 5:8. What does Calvinism have to do with what Christ taught his Apostles? Protestant overreaction on your part.
@baredd79 Jesus was talking to them, because He is God. We are not instructed to talk to deceased saints. Not overreaction. Anyone who is "sanctified" by the blood of Christ is a "saint". The word "Saint" means "sanctified". All believers are saints. Jesus is our "One Mediator" (1 Timothy 2:5) Why don't you want to just go to Jesus? You shouldn't be afraid of Him...He loves you, and is our intercessor.
@baredd79 Mary was an awesome saint of God, and was incredibly blessed to be the mother of her Savior. Mary was just a human...not a goddess. I don't think that she would want statues of herself all over the place...she is more humble than that.
I pray to Jesus all the time, but if I choose intercessory prayer, I may, because ALL intercessory prayer is through Christ's love. Read Eph 6:18-19, Rom 15:30, Col 4:3-1, 2Th 3:1, 2Th 1:11, Tob 12:12, Rev 5:8. Catholics recognise a larger role in Mary then reformists. Protestants see Mary as an object used by the holy spirit ,so Christ could be conceived. This is not the case. Mary WAS the ark of the new covenant, Christ WAS the new covenant. God would have found NOBODY else who was worthy.
@baredd79 All of the scriptures that you mentioned, there is no mention of anyone asking for intercession from deceased saints or Mary. Mary wasn't sinless...she called God her "savior" (she needed a savior-Luke 1:47). (cont.)
WRONG!! You keep dodging Rev. 5:8. And if you don't agree then please humor me and explain in full detail. I'm calling you out! Did the mother of God lust after other men, lie, cheat, steal, and covet?? You goofy protestants just don't get it, do you? Mary wasn't this stand alone individual who just happend to be sinless and found with favor by God. NO! She was granted the grace THROUGH GOD ALONE to be without sin because she was the ARK of the new covenant whereas Christ WAS the new covenant !
@baredd79 Rev 5:8 We (the saints) pray here on earth, and we probably continue to pray when we are in heaven.... but we are given no instructions to communicate with deceased saints in any way. The bible warns against communicating with the deceased (necromancy). See Deuteronomy 18:10-12, 1 Samuel 28 (Saul disobediently communicates with deceased Samuel).
@baredd79 Mary was a godly woman, but she wasn't perfect. She claimed to need a savior (because she wasn't perfect) (Luke 1:47) God's Spirit can dwell in you and I, but that doesn't mean that we are sinless. So His Spirit dwelled in Mary.
The notion that God is the only being without sin is false, even Protestants agree. Adam and Eve before the fall were sinless, and they werent gods, the serpents assertions to the contrary notwithstanding. (u must remember that Mary was not the first immaculate human being, even if she was the first to be conceived immaculately.) Angels in heaven are not gods, but they were created sinless and have remained so ever since. The saints in heaven aren't gods, but each of them is now sinless.
@baredd79 Bro, with all due respect... you are pretty far out there. Adam and Eve sinned, and caused the whole human race to inherit the curse of sin (Romans 5:12). Mary was born of human parents, right? Were her parents sinless? No.
Where are we told that the Holy Spirit conceived Mary (like Jesus)? Nowhere.
Humans inherited the stain of sin. Everyone is born with it.
@caycug1 I think ur getting frustrated because I have an answer for all your man made Calvinistic doctrines. 1, Adam and Eve were sinless BEFORE their fall (go back and read my post correctly) then read Genesis. 2, NO Christ was NOT born with BOTH human Parents, go back and read Luke. 3, YES, BOTH of Christ's biological parents WERE Sinless, God the father and Mary. Mary HAD to be sinless. She was the ark of the new covenant. Christ's mother was not lustful or prideful as you may indicate.
@baredd79 First of all, I am not upset...at all. Secondly I never said that Jesus was not conceived by the Holy Spirit ( I wholeheartedly agree that He was). Thirdly I never indicated in any way that Mary was "lustful or prideful" as you say...I said that she was an incredibly blessed woman of God. You are making things up on the fly...just like your imaginary doctrine.
@caycug1Lot's of women are "incredibly blessed woman of God." How was Mary any different? Please explain? Answered my question about REV 5:8. If we are not to pray to the deceased, why are the 24 elders (12 patriarchs of the old testament, 12 apostles of the new testament) receiving the prayers of the holy ones of Earth, and interceding them to God?? If Mary was sinful, surely she had sexual desires for other men, was prideful, stole, and coveted. If she didn't, wouldn't she be sinless??
@baredd79 Mary was different in that she was highly favored of God (Luke 1:28). In a similar way there was none greater than John the Baptist (Matthew 11:11). Mary didn't need to be sinless for God to dwell inside of her. God dwells in you, doesn't He?
No offence, but your rhetoric is from the same old Protestant playbook that I know like the back of my hand. It's too easy to debunk. When you say "fickle whims", I hope your not referring to sacred tradition. It is these "fickle whims" that preserved the gospels. caycug1, stop speaking in riddles and answer my question. Did Mary have lustful desires, feelings of pride, bared false witness..etc? If you say yes, then that does NOT Make Mary special. Lot's of other Godly women have these desires!
@baredd79 Mary was a wonderful godly virtuous woman, but not sinless. She inherited the sin of Adam, just like everyone else (except Jesus). She sinned. I don't know what her sins were. Why are you so obsessed with the "lust" thing? I've provided many scriptures to back up my points. You are in denial.
@caycug1 No YOUR in denial! The mother of God did not lust after other men, lie, cheat, steal, covet, etc.....EXPLAIN WHY MARY WAS CHOSEN AND HOW SHE WAS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER GODLY WOMEN!!! Does thinking about Mary having lust toward other men anger you? Why should it? It's your belief. If she WAS a sinner like you claim, then she WOULD have lustful thoughts of other men because she wasn't graced by God to be a clean vessel to conceive the son of man.
@caycug1 I just have one more thing to say to you too....."Did your mother have any children that lived?" - Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (Full Metal Jacket, 1987) Check it out :-P
@baredd79 Fortunately, yes she did. But it was Jesus that gave me real life. "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)
@caycug1 I have also provided many scriptures to you as well, but you wrote them off saying that they are not true. I don't subscribe to Calvinistic beliefs that go against what Christ taught his Apostles. Christ taught his followers the eucharist and gave them the step by step instructions on how to perform it in his holy name, but Calvin thought he knew better then the son of man. A protestant church is not a real Christian church. Christ founded the first church through Peter, not Calvin.
@caycug1 Catechism of the Catholic Church, page 142, paragraph 508....
508 From among the descendants of Eve, God chose the Virgin Mary to be the mother of his Son. "Full of grace", Mary is "the most excellent fruit of redemption" (SC 103): from the first instant of her conception, she was totally preserved from the stain of original sin and she remained pure from all personal sin throughout her life.
@baredd79 In Rev 5:8, my interpretation is that God had given the bowls to the 24 elders to present to Jesus. I don't think that is telling us to ask the 24 elders to pray for us.
@caycug1 Your interpretation of Rev 5:8 is incorrect. If the prayers of the holy ones of Earth are for Jesus or God. then according to your Calvinistic doctrine, there should be no mediation between humans on Earth and God. God should be receiving the prayers DIRECTLY. John described it perfectly! Has the RCC written divine scripture lately? No, nor has the 33,000 Protestant denominations, but the RCC preserved the scripture in your King James version. NO RCC, No NT as you know it today. Sorry.
@baredd79 Where did they get the harps? Did the saints on earth "beam them up" to the 24 elders? I never claimed that any protestants had written any new scripture...but you claim that Catholic tradition is divine...which it isn't. You continue to avoid addressing many of my arguments. You can't answer them...that's why.
@caycug1 If Catholic tradition is not divine neither is the New Testament. The inspired authors who wrote the books were followers of the Catholic church. There were no Calvinists back then, lol. The Catholic Church is A LOT older then the New Testament. So when you put ur faith in the NT, your also putting ur faith in that the RCC fathers were led by the holy spirit to choose the correct books of the NT. The entire NT was a CATHOLIC PROCESS!! I've addressed ALL of your arguments. This is EASY!
@baredd79 Fella, you are welcome to believe what you want. I'm just pointing out the errors that I see. You are obviously entrenched in your doctrine. But that's OK...at least you believe that Jesus redeemed you by His blood...which is the most important thing. Peace out.
U believe in the false doctrines of sola scriptura, a man made concept of Lutheranism, not of Christ. It's through tradition that the new testament was preserved. But yet when Luther broke away from the church, he threw out tradition because he had the Bible which is a product OF tradition. So the concept of the Bible alone as the only infallible practice rules itself out. Mary was sinless at tradition dictates. Holy tradition is as important as the scriptures. One can't exist without the other
@baredd79 "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16)
Has the rcc written any new divine scripture lately?
@baredd79 You can't depend on the fickle whims of the rcc for truth. They are constantly revising their positions. It seems like the rc clergy is about keeping secrets to try to maintain power and control. Like when they use to sell indulgences for people to get their deceased loved ones out of purgatory.
Mary needed Jesus as her savior. Christ on the Cross saved her, as us, but its saving effects were applied to her at her conception. (Keep in mind that the Crucifixion is an eternal event and that the appropriation of salvation through Christs death isnt impeded by time or space.) Common sense tells us groups of people are exempt from Pauls statement that "all have sinned." Aborted infants cant sin, nor can young or severely retarded people. Paul didnt mention such obvious exceptions.
@baredd79 Once evangelized, it's not uncommon for people in some cultures to mix some of their "pre-christian" spiritual traditions. An example is in Latin America, where voodoo and christianity are sometimes mixed together. Another example is in Rome. Many Romans were use to worshipping many gods and goddesses, so some of them turned Mary into a goddess, which still continues today.
@baredd79 Although I'm sure that Mary prayed to God for her fellow believers, nowhere in the epistles do any of the writers specifically tell anyone to ask Mary for prayer. If she had some extra power, wouldn't there be a mention of it somewhere?
When Jesus was a child in the temple, Mary didn't know where He was for three days. If she was supernatural, then she would have known where He was. (see Luke 2:39-52)
@baredd79 Mary was highly favored, and blessed among women (Luke 1:28). She was a human creation of God...not a goddess. Mary was a godly woman...and set a good example for us. What does this verse mean to you "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus..." (1 Timothy 2:5) ?
1 Timothy 2:5? Asking a person to pray for you in no way violates Christs mediatorship, as can be seen from considering the way in which Christ is a mediator. Christ is a unique mediator between man and God because he is the only person who is both God and man. He is the only bridge between the two, the only God-man. But that role as mediator is not compromised in the least by the fact that others intercede for us.
@caycug1 Christ is a unique mediator between God and man because he is the Mediator of the New Covenant (Heb. 9:15, 12:24), just as Moses was the mediator (Greek mesitas) of the Old Covenant (Gal. 3:1920).
@baredd79 " Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." (Hebrews 7:25) You have direct access to Jesus. Prayer to goddess was a pagan tradition.
@Reavoltion . (Part 2) Praying to the dead and communing to the dead (Necromancy and psychics) are two different things. Deuteronomy 18:10 reveals this. Protestant overreaction on your part. What about Revelation 5:8, where the saints in heaven (the 24 elders) are receiving the prayers coming from earth, and taking them to God? If we're not supposed to pray to the "dead", why are the 24 elders taking the people's prayers in intersession to God? Again, Protestant overreaction on your part.
@Reavoltion (PART 3) As for prayer to Mary. First off, Mary didn't die, she was assumed into heaven as Sacred tradition indicates. The same sacred oral tradition that brought you the NT, as the first generation of Christians had to rely on due to no NT being written yet. But yet after the scriptures were given to you, Protestants through out oral tradition and said it was unreliable, even though the Bible is physical proof of sacred tradition. Again, Protestant overreaction. If your.....
@Reavoltion (PART 5) If your friend said to you "Please pray for my family member, he's got a few weeks to live". Your not gonna look at him and say "Don't ask me for prayer! Ask Jesus for Prayer!" NO! You would keep him in your prayers! You would intercede on your friend's family members behalf, directly to God! Same as a Catholic who prays to Mary. Mary intercedes on my behalf to Jesus, if I so choose! Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father, but through me." Catholics.....

The Roman Catholic Church teaches unbiblical doctorines like the trinity and celebrates Pagan holidays like Christmas
Catholics pray to Saints and Mary which is completely unbiblical.
Catholics bow down before images and statues and pray to them !
Catholics have Sunday as the Sabbath.
Catholics disobey the Bible by calling the priest "Father." (read Matthew 23:9)
CATHOLICS CHANGED GOD'S COMMADMENTS !

God is the only one who prepares somebody's heart.
jgallete 3 months ago
@jgallete: There is nothing wrong with saying that though. Catholics believe that Mary and the early saints/martyrs are alive in the same way as we are alive here on earth, but just in heaven. We consider them to be our friends within the living body of Christ. A friend of Christ, such as a pastor/priest, can prepare you to meet Christ by reading you His Word. Catholics don't believe that Mary ever had other children since Jesus didn't give care of his mother to one of his brothers as he died.

@RockyBalboa211 - You can believe whatever you want. I respect what you believe. I'm sorry to tell you that, but, nothing you said it's biblical.

jgallete 2 months ago
@jgallete: Why would Jesus give care of his mother to a person unrelated of him if he actually had brothers?
Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, here is your son.’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.
RockyBalboa211 2 months ago
@RockyBalboa211 - Why would he do that? I don't know, I'll ask him when I get to heaven lol. While I'm not there yet, I can guess why he did that. The disciples were closer to him than the other sons and daughters of Mary and Joseph, so it's obvious why he chose one of the disciples to take care of her at that moment.
jgallete 2 months ago
@RockyBalboa211 - The problem is, you got your church saying that Mary was a married virgin her whole life, so you cannot believe she had other sons and you have the Bible saying that Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus but did have other sons and daughters after Him.
Who do we believe in? I'll stick to the Bible.
jgallete 2 months ago
@RockyBalboa211 - "Is not this the carpenter's son?," the Jews asked, "is not his mother called Mary? And his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are thy not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?" (Matt. 13: 55, 56)
These Jews from that synagogue were offended in Jesus and didn't believe in Him, they didn't refer to Jesus' followers as brothers and sisters (as Christians do). They literally meant brothers and sisters.
jgallete 2 months ago
@jgallete In Jewish culture, if someone was an only child (which is my position), his most immediate relatives (cousins) were legally and culturally considered to be siblings though. English can convey a more limited meaning than the Biblical language calls for. Brethren/Brothers can mean "actual brothers" (Your position), countrymen, "cousins" (My position), or "previous children of Joseph" (The orthodox position). James is called a "brother of Jesus", yet his father wasn't Joseph.
RockyBalboa211 2 months ago
@RockyBalboa211
God bless U.
mexicoalful 1 month ago
@RockyBalboa211 - I know that the Catholic doctrine it's supposed to be infallible to you, but the Bible just affirms that Jesus had brothers as a fact, it's so obvious that it should not be debated. Here's another verse: "Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?...
jgallete 2 months ago
@jgallete: The terms "brothers," "brother," and "sister" did not refer only to close relatives. Sometimes they meant kinsmen (Deut. 23:7; Neh. 5:7; Jer. 34:9), as in the reference to the forty-two "brethren" of King Azariah (2 Kgs. 10:13–14). Jesus grew up in Nazareth, and the people of Nazareth referred to him as "the son of Mary" (Mark 6:3), not as "a son of Mary."
RockyBalboa211 2 months ago
@RockyBalboa211 - I don't really see why you won't admit Jesus had actual brothers, that doesn't take anything away from His identity as the Son of God (3:16).
jgallete 2 months ago
@jgallete: But His not having brothers doesn't take away from His Identity either. I'm sorry for my tone in my earlier response. Overall, we have differences in our views of the bible. I promise though that I will try to find more info so that I can be saved. I thank you for helping me understand your point of view, and hopefully it will help me understand the truth of God's Word. I don't consider Mary my God, but I do think Jesus loved her. I strive to love her in the same way Jesus loved her.
RockyBalboa211 2 months ago
@RockyBalboa211 - Yep. I'm sure sure Jesus loved her and I love her as well. Mary was the greatest woman that ever lived. I wanna be the first one to hug her when I get to heaven. I would never pray to her or bow before her image but that's just the differences in our views of the Bible.
What matters is that we share the great and pure love to the great God almighty, He is the joy of my life.
God bless you.

Do I really need to say anything else??????

@QNELSON2 I get what you`re saying, but please understand this. Although it seems like religion is counterproductive, we all have one goal in mind: to get to heaven. Religions are made as a guide to get you there. If you have no set of guidelines and just hope He comes to you, how can you earn the privilege of making it to His heavenly dweeling? If you don`t pursue a relationship, why should He, in all His glory, welcome an unrepentant sinner to his most precious kingdom?

Just come and see, learn, and you'll find the truth. As long as your faith just what like you think, you will not find the truth. You hear, but not hear, see but not see. I believe in Jesus Christ who are established the one true church universal (catolic) Because He promised He will be with His church untill the end of time, He will never break His promise. In His church there are the saint and sinner who seek the truth, but Jesus still with His Church. So come and see the truth.

Saying catolic church is a lie : you makes Jesus a Liar.? Who's teaching you believe : Church by Man or church Jesus?

Speaking of that,…
crimini001 3 months ago
@soulsurcher (2 of 2) ...the Bible nowhere lists the books that make up the Bible, neither does it tell me what tests a book should be put through to determine whether or not that book should be in the Bible. But the Church Jesus founded did. The Church gave me the Bible! The Church produced the Bible in order to help Her fulfill Her role as Teacher. And She says She didn't put everything in the Bible. I believe Jesus, and I believe His Church.
crimini001 3 months ago
@crimini001 Have you read the whole bible through and through. If so you can clearly see how the inspired Word of God leads a person from Gen through Rev, directly to Jesus. From repentence to baptism, Acts 2:38. From to the Holy Ghost to salvationt! Acts 1:8, Acts 2:38, Acts 19:6 "And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied." This is the Door! Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life. I don't have to go anywhere else.
soulsurcher 3 months ago
@soulsurcher "Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life. I don't have to go anywhere else." Becoming part of the Church He founded is not going anywhere else. It is joining yourself to His Body. His Body is entrusted with His authority. To reject His Church is to disobey Him and to rebel against His kingdom. Hebrews 13:17 is a direct command to obey the spiritual leaders He authorized. Those leaders are the Bishops of the Church.
crimini001 3 months ago
@crimini001 The Church is Jesus and nothing else. You can't add anything to Jesus, because he is one. You don't make prayers to anyone else. You don't bow in worship to anything other then Jesus, because he is the Father, and he is the Son, he is the Holy Ghost and all these three are one. The more you absorb the Word of God the more this truth becomes a part of you. Catholosism and it's traditions will not do it for you. It's all in the Word of God, because Jesus is the Word made flesh Jhn 1:14
soulsurcher 3 months ago
@soulsurcher The Church is Jesus's Bride. She is mystically made up of all those who are in Christ. Physically, She is manifested in that Body of believers who are under the authority of the bishops in the Apostolic* Line of Succession. The teaching that Jesus is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost is heresy. *Not to be confused with Oneness Pentecostals.
crimini001 3 months ago
@soulsurcher (1 of 2) "It's all in the Word of God..." No, it isn't. Nowhere does the Bible say everything we need to know and believe is in the Bible, neither does the Bible say that it alone is sufficient for the believer. The unanimous testimony of the Early Church tells us that not everything Jesus and the Apostles taught was put into the Bible. So we have the witness of Scripture and the witness of the Early Church that we as Christians need more than just the Bible. Indeed, the Bible...
crimini001 3 months ago

It is light for your darkness.Tell me, what words could you give that would offer more?
soulsurcher 3 months ago

I don't believe God made it to be complicated, but he gave it unto babes.
soulsurcher 3 months ago

To believe anything else is inconsistent with Scripture and Christian History.
crimini001 3 months ago
@crimini001 Answer me this question. Who do you put your faith in? In Jesus or a catholic priest who shouldn't even be called priest, because Jesus did away with the priesthood when he died on the cross. Heb 9:11 "But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building" Not of this building meaning not of men. You don't read anywhere else of any of the apostles being called priest.
soulsurcher 3 months ago
@crimini001 What's inconsistant is how the catholic church has gone from one way of practicing religion to alternate ways, because what God is doing in the world. He's pouring out his Spirit! Catholics are recieving the Holy Ghost! You now have what is called the Catholic Charismatic Renewal! Hey I'm not knocking it. it's wonderful to see catholics speaking in tongues, but be careful who you call inconsistant. I only know one way and it's found written in the bible. Jesus is the way, truth, life

Please explain how Jesus was not lying if what you said about the "ALL CHURCHES" Satan story. Also how many Churches are there ? How many bodies does Christ have ? One, a zillion ?

@mrskarenkatz That is the one the most rediculous things I've ever heard. If that was the truth then the bible would describe such truth to the church in detail. IPet4:17"For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" I think you are referring to 2Thes 2:7"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way."

Yes. It's a big problem. Jesus said he wanted his followers to be one, but Christianity is very divided against itself. That's why I'm sticking with the church Jesus himself founded, the Catholic church.

sweetsweatyfeet 1 year ago
@sweetsweatyfeet "So many religions, denominations and sects. "
Jugglable 1 year ago
@Jugglable As an atheist I make no claims, presumptions or assertions. Nor do I say "there is no god". I say there is no evidence for god(s) therefore no reason to believe. Atheism is a response position of no belief "when all these people say that there's a god" because none have met their burden of proof.
Therefore I don't take dogmatic positions of absolute certainty but rather ones open to modification should sound evidence be presented---just like the way the scientific method works.
sweetsweatyfeet 1 year ago

What I mean is, worship of Mary who is Dead, and the Saints who are Dead, and the Pope... Well he still alive. But you get my point. Only worship GOD. Not all these human traditions. I am already saved... I also ask for forgiveness every day when I pray. Sir, whats a mongoloid? Never heard of one.
Reavoltion 2 years ago
@Reavoltion (PART 1) You stated..."I'm just saying that all these Catholics worship the dead and that isn't of God." I see you never read Mathew 17:1-3, on the Mountain Of Transfiguration. This is where Christ prayed to a man who was dead. His name was Moses. You see, Christ conquered death. This means there is no separation between us and our loved ones in Heaven. They're more alive than you are on Earth. Your confusion has blinded you.
baredd79 2 years ago
@baredd79 Jesus was talking to Moses and Elijah...He wasn't praying to them. Neither were Peter, James, or John praying to them. "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5) (cont.)
caycug1 1 year ago
Whether Christ was praying OR talking to Moses on the mountain of transfiguration, Jesus was conversing to someone who is deceased. Protestant theology frowns upon prayer to the dead. Jews pray to the deceased. Your version of Jesus is selfish. We are supposed to share in Christ's glory. Christ gave us his mother on the cross, and Intercessory prayer IS valid in the Bible, read Rev. 5:8. What does Calvinism have to do with what Christ taught his Apostles? Protestant overreaction on your part.
baredd79 1 year ago
@baredd79 Jesus was talking to them, because He is God. We are not instructed to talk to deceased saints. Not overreaction. Anyone who is "sanctified" by the blood of Christ is a "saint". The word "Saint" means "sanctified". All believers are saints. Jesus is our "One Mediator" (1 Timothy 2:5) Why don't you want to just go to Jesus? You shouldn't be afraid of Him...He loves you, and is our intercessor.
caycug1 1 year ago
@baredd79 Mary was an awesome saint of God, and was incredibly blessed to be the mother of her Savior. Mary was just a human...not a goddess. I don't think that she would want statues of herself all over the place...she is more humble than that.
caycug1 1 year ago
I pray to Jesus all the time, but if I choose intercessory prayer, I may, because ALL intercessory prayer is through Christ's love. Read Eph 6:18-19, Rom 15:30, Col 4:3-1, 2Th 3:1, 2Th 1:11, Tob 12:12, Rev 5:8. Catholics recognise a larger role in Mary then reformists. Protestants see Mary as an object used by the holy spirit ,so Christ could be conceived. This is not the case. Mary WAS the ark of the new covenant, Christ WAS the new covenant. God would have found NOBODY else who was worthy.
baredd79 1 year ago
@baredd79 All of the scriptures that you mentioned, there is no mention of anyone asking for intercession from deceased saints or Mary. Mary wasn't sinless...she called God her "savior" (she needed a savior-Luke 1:47). (cont.)
caycug1 1 year ago
NO! She was granted the grace THROUGH GOD ALONE to be without sin because she was the ARK of the new covenant whereas Christ WAS the new covenant !
baredd79 1 year ago
@baredd79 Rev 5:8 We (the saints) pray here on earth, and we probably continue to pray when we are in heaven.... but we are given no instructions to communicate with deceased saints in any way. The bible warns against communicating with the deceased (necromancy). See Deuteronomy 18:10-12, 1 Samuel 28 (Saul disobediently communicates with deceased Samuel).
caycug1 1 year ago
@baredd79 Mary was a godly woman, but she wasn't perfect. She claimed to need a savior (because she wasn't perfect) (Luke 1:47) God's Spirit can dwell in you and I, but that doesn't mean that we are sinless. So His Spirit dwelled in Mary.
caycug1 1 year ago
The notion that God is the only being without sin is false, even Protestants agree. Adam and Eve before the fall were sinless, and they werent gods, the serpents assertions to the contrary notwithstanding. (u must remember that Mary was not the first immaculate human being, even if she was the first to be conceived immaculately.) Angels in heaven are not gods, but they were created sinless and have remained so ever since. The saints in heaven aren't gods, but each of them is now sinless.
baredd79 1 year ago
@baredd79 Bro, with all due respect... you are pretty far out there. Adam and Eve sinned, and caused the whole human race to inherit the curse of sin (Romans 5:12). Mary was born of human parents, right? Were her parents sinless? No.
Where are we told that the Holy Spirit conceived Mary (like Jesus)? Nowhere.
Humans inherited the stain of sin. Everyone is born with it.
caycug1 1 year ago
@caycug1 I think ur getting frustrated because I have an answer for all your man made Calvinistic doctrines. 1, Adam and Eve were sinless BEFORE their fall (go back and read my post correctly) then read Genesis. 2, NO Christ was NOT born with BOTH human Parents, go back and read Luke. 3, YES, BOTH of Christ's biological parents WERE Sinless, God the father and Mary. Mary HAD to be sinless. She was the ark of the new covenant. Christ's mother was not lustful or prideful as you may indicate.
baredd79 1 year ago
@baredd79 First of all, I am not upset...at all. Secondly I never said that Jesus was not conceived by the Holy Spirit ( I wholeheartedly agree that He was). Thirdly I never indicated in any way that Mary was "lustful or prideful" as you say...I said that she was an incredibly blessed woman of God. You are making things up on the fly...just like your imaginary doctrine.
caycug1 1 year ago
@caycug1Lot's of women are "incredibly blessed woman of God." How was Mary any different? Please explain? Answered my question about REV 5:8. If we are not to pray to the deceased, why are the 24 elders (12 patriarchs of the old testament, 12 apostles of the new testament) receiving the prayers of the holy ones of Earth, and interceding them to God?? If Mary was sinful, surely she had sexual desires for other men, was prideful, stole, and coveted. If she didn't, wouldn't she be sinless??
baredd79 1 year ago
@baredd79 Mary was different in that she was highly favored of God (Luke 1:28). In a similar way there was none greater than John the Baptist (Matthew 11:11). Mary didn't need to be sinless for God to dwell inside of her. God dwells in you, doesn't He?
caycug1 1 year ago
No offence, but your rhetoric is from the same old Protestant playbook that I know like the back of my hand. It's too easy to debunk. When you say "fickle whims", I hope your not referring to sacred tradition. It is these "fickle whims" that preserved the gospels. caycug1, stop speaking in riddles and answer my question. Did Mary have lustful desires, feelings of pride, bared false witness..etc? If you say yes, then that does NOT Make Mary special. Lot's of other Godly women have these desires!
baredd79 1 year ago
@baredd79 Mary was a wonderful godly virtuous woman, but not sinless. She inherited the sin of Adam, just like everyone else (except Jesus). She sinned. I don't know what her sins were. Why are you so obsessed with the "lust" thing? I've provided many scriptures to back up my points. You are in denial.
caycug1 1 year ago
@caycug1 No YOUR in denial! The mother of God did not lust after other men, lie, cheat, steal, covet, etc.....EXPLAIN WHY MARY WAS CHOSEN AND HOW SHE WAS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER GODLY WOMEN!!! Does thinking about Mary having lust toward other men anger you? Why should it? It's your belief. If she WAS a sinner like you claim, then she WOULD have lustful thoughts of other men because she wasn't graced by God to be a clean vessel to conceive the son of man.

@baredd79 Fortunately, yes she did. But it was Jesus that gave me real life. "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)
caycug1 1 year ago
@caycug1 I have also provided many scriptures to you as well, but you wrote them off saying that they are not true. I don't subscribe to Calvinistic beliefs that go against what Christ taught his Apostles. Christ taught his followers the eucharist and gave them the step by step instructions on how to perform it in his holy name, but Calvin thought he knew better then the son of man. A protestant church is not a real Christian church. Christ founded the first church through Peter, not Calvin.

I don't think that is telling us to ask the 24 elders to pray for us.
caycug1 1 year ago

You can't answer them...that's why.
caycug1 1 year ago

Has the rcc written any new divine scripture lately?
caycug1 1 year ago

Many Romans were use to worshipping many gods and goddesses, so some of them turned Mary into a goddess, which still continues today.
caycug1 1 year ago
@baredd79 Although I'm sure that Mary prayed to God for her fellow believers, nowhere in the epistles do any of the writers specifically tell anyone to ask Mary for prayer. If she had some extra power, wouldn't there be a mention of it somewhere?
When Jesus was a child in the temple, Mary didn't know where He was for three days. If she was supernatural, then she would have known where He was. (see Luke 2:39-52)
caycug1 1 year ago
@baredd79 Mary was highly favored, and blessed among women (Luke 1:28). She was a human creation of God...not a goddess. Mary was a godly woman...and set a good example for us. What does this verse mean to you "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus..." (1 Timothy 2:5) ?
caycug1 1 year ago
1 Timothy 2:5? Asking a person to pray for you in no way violates Christs mediatorship, as can be seen from considering the way in which Christ is a mediator. Christ is a unique mediator between man and God because he is the only person who is both God and man. He is the only bridge between the two, the only God-man. But that role as mediator is not compromised in the least by the fact that others intercede for us.
baredd79 1 year ago

Again, Protestant overreaction on your part.
baredd79 2 years ago

@Reavoltion (PART 5) don't pray to Mary so that we can get to the Father. We pray to Mary so that we can know her son, Lord Jesus Christ. Je
