This isn't the original video! I remember a video that featured a much YOUNGER Tane, with Jonathan & his brother Mugs playing in the background -- and Tane in front of huge blowin' fans. Someone re-did her own video.
OK _ I'm guilty ! Still have both the album and 45 ... do respect her as a vocalist. Even though her poppa is a Hollywood icon and her (now ex) hubby at the time was enjoying the ride of the band Journey at it's prime - she didn't have the promotion she deserved imho...
Tane McClure! A staple of late night HBO, Showtime, and Skinamax "what's the point of this lame ass plot" soft core jerk off material. I had no idea she was a singer, too! Awesome!
Look, its 0705 Hrs. (That means 7:05 am). I have goose bumps to this day from Tane and her voice. I recently purchased a home in the mountains of the Northeast United States. In the home was a record player, yes I imagine some of you know what that is! I have, as stated previously, the Original Vinyl of Tane's and it is in mint condition. I think I'll play it to day with the windows and doors all open! Tane, still holdin' on after all these years and I know I am no the only one. 1 4 3.
I think that she divorced him. I still have the Orig. VINYL in mint condition. I loved her then and I love her now. This was the 80's and I was there with her as were my friends. Tane, we have not ever forgotten you. We were moved by you then and to this day the everlasting memory of you and your music is etched into our hearts and minds. Over the years some of the orig. TC crew has moved to heaven and at young ages. Those who remain are still with you.
When Kim Wilde released "You keep me hangin' on" back in '87, it kind of had a unique sound, not really rock but not really pop, either. A different type of beat. I've always wondered where that sound originated. I wonder no more!
@mrsrodriguez34 Yes she was married to him. Not sure if she is now though? Her name now is Tane McClure, daughter of the late Doug McClure, who played in "The Virginian". She was born on June 8TH, 1958, which would make her 51.
@bucky468 Sounds like there was clapping or something at the end, so it was snipped. Probably could have at least had it fade out using something like Windows Movie Maker so it wouldn't have such an abrupt ending. If timed right, we wouldn't lose any more of the song,
Unfortunately many AOR/classic rock stations wouldn't touch this classic w/a 10ft pole b/c her sound's more like non-rock artists like Laura Branigan or Donna Summer than it would Pat Benatar (whom All Music Guide compares her closest to) or Martha Davis of Motels fame. I'll say this though - it's so much better than most of the new wave/synth pop that came out at the same time. She had a great singing voice & this song deserved much better than what it actually got. It is a good song.
I wish RCA would put this song up for sale on iTunes. Other songs that fared just as badly on the Billboard chart (this one peaked at #37) are there; why isn't this one?
It was reissued courtesy of indy reissue label Renaissance Records. It's now available at Amazon & may be downloadable now. Many online retailers now have the CD.
@XPBInthenight iTunes & Amazon pulled most of the Renaissance Records albums off the site as of recently. Luckily for anyone still looking for this song you can get it at Walmart, Napster & Rhapsody. You have to subscribe to the latter though. Either that or else buy the CD at Amazon or RR's home page cdthen(dot)net.
@XPBInthenight BMG never made GTR's 1986 S/T debut available at iTunes either. That album went Top 15 & spawned a major AOR & Top 15 pop hit ("When the Heart Rules the Mind.") The band themselves had to buy the rights to the album (or maybe they already owned the rights in conjunction w/BMG) & put it there. Same w/Louisiana's LeRoux. Their entire discography's there now. BMG & all the other record companies seem to cherry pick what album they wanna put on iTunes et al.
I have the orig. vinyl from back in the day, mint condition. Have looked for Tane FOR YEARS! Does anyone know where she is today and what she is doing? I LOVE YOU TANE, THEN, NOW AND ALWAYS! Going to look to see if there is a VERTIGO video from her next. THANK YOU FRITZ!
An interesting factoid is that she's the daughter of actor Doug McClure and, under the name of Tane & the Trianglyz, had three songs on the 1984 "The Terminator" soundtrack.

One of the most talented and over-looked singers of the 1980s. Shame! She's such a HUGE talent!

Tane hit #37 in Billboard, 9-18-82. Why on Earth would Jon Cain leave this fine fox? God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

Yes, who do you think wrote that song as well as her whole album. Oh yea also he plays on it and produced and sings background too.

I don't think a divorce is a mistake. They probably divorced because Jon was always gone, not saying it was his fault at all, but thats my oppinion.
Newbell2 1 year ago
Why did Jon and Tane make the egregious mistake to divorce? Hit #37 in Billboard. God bless!

how would anyone describe this music? I would consider it post-disco (hence the light) or power-dance pop, chick-style?
