  • Nice tank. Are you just using normal gravel substrate or are you using some sort of nutrient base for your plants to grow?

  • @caenre28 this is sand blast gravel. It's a very cheap (8$ a bag) medium. If you can't find it at your local pet/fish store then you can probably find it at Home Depot or Lowe's. As for fertilizer I used pond plant fertilizer in the areas where the crypts grew. I hope this helps.

  • nice.

  • since 1982? tts a very old tank =D. nice setup btw. admire ur ferns! lol.

  • cool tank! those java ferns are huge! doesn't your betta try to kill the ghost shrimp? I had a ghost shrimp and female betta together and she eat it... then again it was only 2 gallons..

  • Yeah, maybe the ghost shrimp survived in my case due to the reletive size of the enclosure. I never intended for this shrimp to live so long. Oh and about the java ferns, I bought 2 from a aquarium shop and the man told me that they are a long variety. They really multiplied on me. Thanks for you comment!

  • Stupid people at the fish store told me you can't have two betas in the same tank. Obvisouly they are wrong.

You might want to get yourself a battery powered pump for those power emergancies.

Any problems with ph swing using your diy co2?

  • Well I wouldn't recommend putting 2 male bettas together. But you can have two or more females together as long as you put them in at the same time. I try to change the water so often that the ph swing is more in bounds. Thanks for your comment!
