  • I still cant find it in the english dub :(

  • i bought my copy in england in a hmv shop for 20 pounds.

it's out on "eureka" or "masters of cinema".

for who wants to know ;)

  • I watched the English dub version on BBC television as an eight year old in '88. Only recently finding the title to watch this clip. Even more haunting as I remember, with it being accompanied by this excellent score.

  • Minden idők egyik legnagyobb klasszikusa!

  • well the only problem is that the music is not from the movie. It's a Morricone music known as Chi Mai from the Belmondo movie Le professionnel. Anyway the music is good, only it doesn't have to do anything with the Time Masters.

  • Beautiful video.

And the music fits the mood fot he video. Great job.

Yes, the ending tune from the movioe isd a masterpiece, but this worked too.

  • I remember seeing that movie on TV in Germany in 1986 (I remember that so exactly, because it was the first movie, I recorded with the VCR). Was a great help for me learning German - but the end is soooo sad.

  • Great, it`s my childhood. I saw this film about 20 years ago. It was USSR, Moscow. An old soviet cinema. It was really great!

  • Yeah, this movie is also one of my most vivid childhood memories, but I watched it on TV. In Bulgaria.

  • Super film. Watched it when I was a kid. Thank you for sharing!!!

  • it's not gay considering it' s Jaffar and Belle (woman) although I agree it could be misleading as her anatomy isn't that feminine really...

  • And even if it were gay it would hardly be worth commenting on (unless one were in some way obsessed with homosexuality).

  • HC?!!! This song has nothing to do with this film! Why not the original soundtrack from Moebius?! Weird...

  • It's "chi mai" from Ennio Morricone, an this son is from fhe Film "Le Professionel"

  • I love this song. Is there a soundtrack? Does someone know the title (of the song)?

  • Up to other comment :-)

  • There are differences between American and European cartoons. Both have its place on Earth. But changing or 'explaining' the end of this would be like the crucifixion of Buddha... that's an other story.

  • I've downloaded this movie recently after stumbling across this bit.

Lovely to see Time Masters again :)

Has been at least 20 years since I saw it last. Still as good as I remembered!

  • Someone please upload the whole film with english subtitles :) I'll give you a cookie!

  • Ive got this on tape some where in english. Ive got to find it.

  • I am also looking for this film in English, can you help? (Time Masters)

  • The best way is too download it. I live in England and apparently is was only aired over here once which is a shame on BB1. So basically finding the English version is rare as shit but Im sure you know that lol.

  • Ok. But how can I download it?

  • did you find this film in english ? as i am to looking . i used to watch it every day as a child but just cant find it now please message me if you have any news cheers jez

  • yeah my dad managed to download rare English dub version. its much easier to watch and follow the story and I enjoyed the film more I hate reading subtitles. Its hard to find but its out there somewhere.

  • great film and finally out on dvd

  • This movie is A HUGE TEARJERKER. You've been warned.

  • This is the best part of the movie!!! A very nice story! I like very much it!

  • Great. I was 5 or 6 when i see this film. I want it in german...... Great,Great,Great

  • A masterpiece, this film. I don't really like these fanmade vids, and again I fail to see the point of putting the images together with music that's got nothing to do with them at all, but hey, I can always turn the sound off, innit? Time Masters was shown for nearly a decade every Sunday at Tabán cinema in Budapest. Went to see it 3-4 times over the years, the last time being around 2000 I think. I found Madonna's Get Together video strangely familiar to this film visually.

  • This clip should have it's original beautyful end sequence soundtrack instead this overused Morricone song.

  • I agree with U! This is not the original sountrack! The original is mooore better!!!

  • here is the original (ending) one on youtube (so watch out, SPOILER! (too)):

    /watch?v=QpKHgVCBokk

... and the first minutes (and song) of the movie at its first related video

    (both hungarian)

  • here is the original (ending) one on youtube, paste it after the " / "

    (and watch out, SPOILER! (too)):

(sorry, if I wrote it more than one times, don't know how to write links here)

  • i have the english language version with video ripped from the french dvd and audio culled from the bbc taped-off-the-telly vhs. it's still as amazing and powerful as it was when i watched it when i was 6. it's the greatest animated film ever made.

  • This movie made such a strong impression on me when I was a kid! I am searching for it everywhere but somehow I'm afraid to watch it now because I'm afraid it will erase the "old" memories I had for this movie. So maybe it is good that I can't find it.

By the way, the song for thisd video is called "Chi Mai" and is written by Ennio Morricone.

  • Fanbloodytastic! My mum taped it for me when I was a kid in the late 80s. But my sister taped over it :-( It was the dubbed English language version I saw here in the UK. Shame that version is not available. If you live in the UK and want it released either write to the BBC or mail BBC Shop and pester them to release the dubbed English version!

  • whats that song?

  • The music is "chi mai" by Ennio Morricone from "Le Professionel" a 1981 French movie starring Jean-Paul Belmondo.

  • The animation is done by the same studio that did "Felix the Cat: The Movie".

  • C'est marrant, l'un des personnages ressemble furieusement à Philippe de Dieuleveult, star de la TV francaise, à la même époque.

  • I know a few Americans who've seen this like me that tned to wanna differ greatly with the ending, namely in that it was a total cop-out! In some way, I felt a little taken back by the big reveal as if it was kinda ironic. The film builds up potential I'll give it that, but the ending just left too many questions to answer (way to go Laloux for the wild ride!).

  • I have this movie on DVD..which I bought on Ebay for $80. This is an incredible film...and the ending is so sad. I cry so hard when they start playing THAT MUSIC during the final scene and credits. Devasting movie...one of the best ever and hardly anyone knows about it.

  • Oh my god, thank you for uploading this small video! Over years now I've been searching for infos about it throughout the web and always just found some bits here and some bits there. Great to see some moving parts after so many years! :-D

  • Le Professionel, 1981' Music Ennio Morricone

..ask me next time sweetheart! xxx

  • Anyone Know what the music is to this animation, have heard it amny times before but dont know its name or who wrote it.

  • It is some soundtrack of something series... Well, I think that it was the sounftrack of La Piovra (I am not sure)... But it wasn't made for Time Masters. :S:D:D:D:D:D

  • yes...this is a cool song. But I like the score to Time Masters more, especially the song at the end.

  • yes it is, but only a french version

  • yes it is but as i remember only in a french version

  • great film. Is it on DVD?

  • The best French anim' forever !

    Cold, raw & strange...

    with Moebius drawings.

    GREAT ART.

  • Hi,

Well, it is not only a French animation. It is a Hungarian-French movie. There were more works in this movie by Hungarian people than French men. :)

    I know; I am a Hungarian boy.

    Salute!

  • That's my favourite movie. : )

    It's all kinds of awesome.

  • I remember seeing this movie quite a number of years ago as a child. I recall it as a sad, sombre and very odd film.

  • I last saw this Christmas 1987, when I was 6! I thought I'd just dreamed it up! Bloody weird, sad film if I recall - a cute animal dies in it - and isn't the kid the old man, or something odd like that?!?
