  • FWIW I preferred the AC/DC lineup with Bon, more 'cheeky' and fun, (and Powerage is such an underrated album) but Back in Black is the SECOND HIGHEST SELLING ALBUM OF ALL TIME (check it out if you don't believe me) - so there is no doubt at all there was life after Bon!

    Let there be rock....

  • Van 'elan

  • poor andy he lost it big time

  • Great shot of David Lee Roth at 1:23!

  • I know ACDC are good, but one night I heard a live album of theirs and Angus' playing on it was beyond any studio album I'd ever heard from them. Wish I knew what that album was. He played this mad long solo that left me in a different world. He is so under-rated.

  • ac/dc with bon or brian truly awesome

  • best band ever be it with bon or brian

  • 2:08 to fuck those fagots

  • was gonna say ac/dc never played the old grey whistle test.

  • Kershaw = irreverent piss-taker. Gotta love the guy.

  • fuck me was that keith lemon at 0.33, bang tidy eeeeesssssshhhhh!!!

  • @grandmasteramrod

    thats my thought exactly!!!

  • I was there!

  • @keef71 You'll notice I didn't say I didn't say I didn't like AC/DC post-Bon, or that I don't enjoy them. I simply stated that I prefer the singing of Bon Scott to Andy Brian Johnson.

  • @robinbowes im gonna say it post bon AC/DC SUCKED ASS!! Back in black is the only album i like with brian. everything else sucked asshole! LED ZEPPELIN IS GOD ANYWAY!

  • @defrancotv but sorry, ACDC Monster Of Rock, just ACDC consist with his genre, and fact shows ACDC always survive with all genre music and still famous in rock people, and back in black is the highest selling album by a band, and ACDC stil solid although now they all getting older but they new album 'Black Ice' still shows that ACDC best rock band ever

  • good old angus, the only guitarist that can make an SG look huge!

hate the clip, even the ever worthy BBC whistle test take the piss out of rock/metal by sending the northern twat to cover it - obviously not as credible as a nose-flute trio from uzbekistan

  • @garethac81 You missed out:

    Brian Johnson = average singer

    Bon Scott = fantastic singer

    Therefore:

AC/DC with Bon Scott > AC/DC with Brian Johnson

    :)

  • @robinbowes so i take it you never listen to anything post-bon? or you might, but make a point of not enjoying it? get over yourself already, maybe you'd prefer it if the band had given up altogether when bon left us?

  • I wanna back to the 80's.

  • Kershaw. Wonder what happened to him.

Even more of a tosser these days, you say?

  • Great show, I remember it well!! Jim

  • uhh, i prefer bon

  • Was at Donnington in 84' and Dublin in 81' For Those About To Rock tour, the band always rocks.Highway To Hell tour at The Ulster Hall in Belfast in August of 79' way the legend that is Bon Scott will live way me for the rest of my life, each to their own.Bon Scott was thee ultimate front man. Bon Scott RIP.

  • Bon Scott

  • They do put on a good show the ACDC boys and always have

  • 26 years later they still rocked the nuts off Donington

  • FIRE!!!!!!

  • It's weird that ppl tried to label Ac/Dc as metal in the 80s. If you listen to their records, it's never been metal for several reasons - 1- the songwriting is heavily based in blues and rock and roll - Chuck Berry, Rolling Stones and Cream to name a few, unlike the metal tradition - I mean, The Jack, metal??? 2- the guitar approach, with open chords and old amps in medium gain, and bluesy solos. Not metal. 3- The outfit! SO not metal - they can be a lot of things except metal.

  • @marcelcruzeiro I agree but tbf, I dont think your first reason is valid, I mean think about it Tony Iommi, blues guitarist, now seen as a godfather of heavy metal, it's more the approach the guitarist takes from the blues, undoubtedly angus and malcolm stayed hella close to the blues, but obviously others just deviated abit further tbf

  • is it true that AC/DC hold the record for consecutive gigs? I know they had the record for playing in 7 countries in like 5 days

  • @73mandala That was Def Leppard that did that

  • 1984 the year of METAL!

I bet i saw no less than 20 heavy shows that year.

  • No other guitarist plays as accurately as Angus Young whilst rocking out....wow!

  • get fuck going to see them tonight with 50,000

  • 80s rock :P

  • What pompous smug presenters!!!!! Andy Kershaw was fine though

  • @slimhotknave Yeah, he was fucking brilliant. Sounds like he' s back on track now

  • @normsfletcher Hi.......hope so...just saw your page. I got one of them hernias!!!!

  • @slimhotknave yeah, not nice eh? I've been going to a chiro to get is sorted, hopefully it will work!

  • @slimhotknave pity Kershaw ended up being a wife beater ,

  • @scotsmaninusa I was not aware of that...thanks for the update

  • @slimhotknave yeah it's a shame as the drink got the better of him,he's been in jail a few times in 2008 for constantly breaking restraining orders his wife had taken out, suppose he should've kept his dick in his pants then his marriage would still be OK.I hope he sorts himself out.

    cheers

  • @scotsmaninusa Great shame, blokes eh?!!

  • Great retro footage !!

  • it's such a shame bon never got to see how huuge ac/dc became he woulda' been so proud,we'll never forget bon down here in oz

  • Angus' tone and chops are on here. Thanks for posting

  • Yes, we Are , we Are great audience indeed!

  • They remind me sbd.

  • Bon Scott = Great frontman

    Brian Johnson = Great frontman

AC/DC with Bon Scott = Great band

AC/DC with Brian Johnson = Great band

I wish this "Bon vs. Brian" bollocks would die a death, I really do.

  • Well said.

  • @garethac81 I heartily agree - both great singers!

  • @garethac81 I agree but I would love to have had 30 years of Bon Scott. He was the reason I first got into AC/DC.

  • @garethac81

anyone who argues anything over ac/dc is not a fan & never will be.....

  • @garethac81 AGREED!

  • @garethac81 0pinions vary.... for me, Bon is best.

  • @garethac81 bon is still way better

  • @garethac81 I agree totally.

  • @garethac81 You obviously don't understand why the debate continues then. It's simple, when Bon was with them, they were a great band with a great front man when Bon died they got shit. Simple.

  • @fishypaw

Sorry, but there's no polite way to say this: if you think AC/DC "got shit" after Bon died then you're deaf, stupid or both.

I won't even bother listing the dozens of classic songs the band have written post '79. You're wrong. Simple.

  • @garethac81 It's a shame you don't get it.

  • @fishypaw

It's a shame you know nothing about music...but hey, that's life.

  • @garethac81 I have at least 15 yrs more experience than you, and how do you know what I know. Your ignorance is showing by twice now making nonsense statements. Arrogance and ignorance are not attractive qualities.

  • @fishypaw

"Nonsense statements?" You've summarised 30 years worth of great music by AC/DC as "shit". That includes Back In Black, an album regularly cited as one of the greatest rock albums ever made.

The only "nonsense statements" here are coming from you...and frankly, I have better things to do than pay attention to your nonsense. You've made yourself look an utter fool with your remarks...congratulations, have a nice a day, goodbye.

  • funny really, most people agree that bon was a better front man,i never bought an album after back in black, brian was great on that but they have become more successful so best of luck to them, you cant not love angus anyway

  • Not bad. Brian Johnson was clearly an influence for joe elliott on PYROMANIA and HIGH AND DRY. Here he's not quite cuttting it! live At least Bon sounded like Bon, on stage...

  • true. ftatr was always one of those songs where brian couldnt always get all them high notes... but an electric performance, nevertheless! what i'd give to see that show again... and to think that that schmuck thought he wouldn't enjoy an AC/DC and DLR-VH concert! no wonder they cuffed him!

  • angus young hacia demasiado espectaculo creo que al grado de ser ridiculo ¬¬....

  • this concert is the firts when bon scott die ? Sorry for my english ^^

Bon scott dead this concert is the first ?

  • No AC/DC played Donnington 3 years earlier in 1981 with the new singer,i was there!!

  • qmark78, let it go pal, it was 30 years ago!! Dickhead!!

  • AC/DC FOREVER!!

  • alot of great artists were on the old grey whistle test

  • I'm confused. I was at castle donnington when acdc headlined with whitesnake, Blue oyster cult and slade etc (no van halen). I thought that was 1984 but maybe i'm wrong and it was 1983. If anyone can be bothered can you clarify this

  • The one with AC/DC, Slade, Blue Oyster Cult, WhiteSnake and More was in 1981.

  • You were obviously having A LOT of fun during that period and tell folk "It was all a bit blurry"

Don't try to remember too hard! It bruises the brain and the memory....

AC/DC were 1/2 Scot in their family history.. never a bad thing!

    Good clip!

  • What an apathetic closing statement from Brian, no offense. "See ya."

  • Best sound quality eva

    anyways acdc owns

  • ik was in karlsruhe 01-09-1984 mischien heeft iemand fotos

  • at least he's had a finest moment....lol

  • You condsider this show Brian's finest moment? LOLOL!!! I just saw them last December in Tampa and it was better than their last couple of tours.

  • Albums have never reached those heights... seen them every tour since and they always put on a great show but that was their Brian height... no doubt.

  • The new lp is on pace to break that periods individual lp sales. Have you seen the current tour? I definitly think it was better than the last couple.

  • Seeing the tour in April... very much looking forward to it. Taking my 70 year old dad. Couple of the tracks on the album are great but long gone are the days when every single second of an AC/DC album was genius... and as for sales.... well the sheeple buy what the sheeple buy regardless of quality. We have a funeral in England today of a gross woman who is famous for exposing herself on TV and being racist and the sheeple are lining the streets...

  • Well, I surely agree with the Sheeple statement. Here in the states it's rampant. I took my 7 yr old son and he shook Brian Johnson's hand 10 minutes into the show. It's on my home page if you care to take a look. I personally iike the new material better than the last several albums. We can't expect them to still be producing lp's as good as everything up to Back In Black. Warning, the new show was the LOUDSET I've EVER seen! Bring ear plugs for your dad. I almost wanted them LOL!!

  • I did... Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be... ;-D

    Thanks!

He listens to loud music all the day long...

  • Cool, enjoy the show with you dad. The opening is as good as any i've ever seen and I've been going to shows for 35 yrs.

  • Excellent I look forward to it... got a great week that week. AC/DC Thursday, Derren Brown (a mentalist) Friday, Derek Trucks Saturday and Dylan Sunday.

My favourite openings have been ZZ Top (Afterburner tour) and last year's Rush so we will see.

  • Shit that is a helluva week. Derek Trucks is as good as they come on slide. It didn't hurt growing up around the musicians that were always around him. I live in Florida, Dickey Betts and Brian Johnson both live abut an hour from me, Cliff Williams about two hours south. I saw ZZ Top in 75, Deguello 79, and the Eliminator Tour, not since though. Dylan I have not seen for years. I remember the mid 70's having weeks like that; I miss it. ENJOY BRO'!

  • It is my first for many years... I've pencilled in a festival as well.... Glastonbury... as Sringsteen and Neil Young are playing.

  • DC and Trucks were superb... Dylan not so.

  • Thanks for the update. I've always heard Dylan is hit or miss.

  • Am standing at Wembley!!! June '09!! Rock on!!!

  • Now I know why Brian usually always wears a hat.

  • i'm used to hearing about Skynyrd's old grey whistle test

  • my dad was there!

  • Then your dad is one lucky bastard!

  • i must be one lucky bastard two iwas there2 and i will be at the men next year lol

  • I'm gonna see them at th MEN aswell, where did you get tickets, I got the standing.

  • ticket master seated i guess im not as lucky this time i would rather stand
