  • CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHO THE FUCK THE BLONDE GUY IS HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE MY DAD AND I MEAN LIKE THE EXACT SAME WHO IS THE BLONDE ACTOR????? PLEASE ANSWER ME .........

  • @austenlong William Katt, it says so in the description =P

  • I'm singing this in chorus at my school.

  • we are singing this song in my choir class.. :D?

  • pippin is a great to have as your first play

    it was for me

  • @SuperAirsoftaustin were you Pippin?

  • @NeverDoubt1 - You put it perfectly when you pointed out the 'cheekiness' of the character Pippin! I didn't watch much tv as a kid and missed out on a lot of shows including Greatest American Hero. Given that I enjoyed Katt's performance in Pippin so much, I should probably see if I can find episodes from the series. Thank you for your comment.

  • @SciuridaeGirl Hi sorry for the late reply, somehow I missed your comment! :) Yeah I didn't grow up with the series either but I'm really starting to enjoy it now. His character on the show is an interesting combination of idealism and sarcasm, lol. I'd definitely recommend checking it out. :)

  • Hands down---this is the best performance of Corner of the Sky that I have ever seen. Don't even bother trying to find another to compare. It would be a waste of time.

William Katt is absolutely brilliant and mesmerizing. He captures the spirit of this song perfectly. Love Ben Vereen too.

  • @SciuridaeGirl Definitely, Katt does a great job, really embodies the cheekiness of the character, hehe. Did you ever watch him on Greatest American Hero?

  • I think it was a great performance and can't wait to sing "corner of the sky" for senior song in chior:)

  • I think this is the best performance ever of Corner of the Sky....

  • Greatest American Hero.

  • 2:48

    ....woah

    words escape me

  • @soccerskatejake oh I totally agree! the look on his face is priceless!

  • William Katt sings this song MUCH better than John Rubenstein! Does anyone know if I can get it on iTunes?

  • @Rogue7268 oh, yes. finally tracked down Rubenstein's version off the cast recording -- voice much too light, can't see it being able to project well whilst also performing on stage. (By comparison, listened to the cast recording of Pardon My English, and you can hear the strength in William Katt's voice even there.) Couldn't imaging Rubenstein doing this (based on that recording) with the relish and zest it needs.

  • John Rubinstein Is So Much Better Than William Katt. And Ben Vereen Is Fucking Legendary, I LOVE Him!

  • I've seen this entire musical and stuff, and this song is my favorite, but I have no idea what the heck Pippin is about! =] Could someone explain it please?

  • @BroadwayBaby98 this may be more than you wanted, but this is an excellent treatise on Pippin: ww.fosse.com/features/working_magic_with_pippin.html

  • @aellath1 add a w in front; i couldn't post the link with triple-w. 8(

  • Correct me if I am wrong but is he wearing chain mail?

  • C'mon this guy is OK but he goes off key in several places and his movements are stiff and wooden. He is a bit more buff than I would've expected, but when you hear this song done by someone who can sing, he pales. I recall Barry Williams, doing this on the Brady Bunch Variety Hour, and even he is 100 times better.

  • @markxxx21 you have to remember this was the 80s and i'm pretty sure it was his first role

  • @markxxx21 Could you or somebody tell me exactly where he went off key? Because if her did, I never noticed...

Also, you try getting up on stage in front of a couple thousand people right in front of you, as well as a live television audience, and try to sing and move perfectly, and then show it to William Katt.

  • @PiggyPinedog it was very barely off key, and i agree: folks should try getting up on stage, in front of a live audience, *project* because they don't have a mike, and move around like this, and see if *they* can stay perfectly on pitch the whole time. There are points when even Ben Vereen is ever so slightly off-key. Ah, the joys of live stage . . . ;-)

  • pippin shaves his armpits...is that normal?

  • Not for 1981 LOL.

  • @ArabellaWilmot actually, they're not. you have to remember that William Katt is a natural blonde with very little body hair and light skin tone. So it looks that way.

  • my highschool just did this and it was really good. i came back from college just to see it. amazing musical

  • PERFECT

  • My school is doing this and auditions are in 2 weeks....I'm auditioning for Leading Player or Berthe(Pippin's grandmother...and it's pronounced Bertha)And for leading player I gotta learn simple joys and Magic to Do....But any advise from any leading players(Male or Female) For me????

  • One of the best songs ever written!! i think a theatre company near me is gonna do this musical an i really want to be a leading player!!

  • If you like this song you gotta listen to "Colors of my life" and "Out there" both from the show 'Barnum'

  • I never realized he could sing that good. Quite a far cry from Carrie!!

  • @BetsyGirl1976 Search for Pardon My English, Billy Katt, or Secret Smiles for more.

  • wow, he's really into it :)

  • thats what makes this my favorite version ;)

  • Katt has a powerful voice!!!

  • I'd love to be the Leading Player someday. Just have to find a director willing to cast a girl.

    Katt's amazing.

  • Ha we have a Pippin in our show... he has an awful singing voice. I ended up being Lewis. :D

  • Ben Vereen is just an awesome presence and no one can replace him...

  • Yes, in our school's production this year my drama teacher says it works just as well with a girl as the Lead Player... and he is going to cast it as a girl.

  • William Katt is the son of Barbara Hale, the actress who played Della Street on the TV show Perry Mason. She made that role hers. Iconic.

  • love it

  • he is gawwjus

  • Did this in college after they did Jesus Christ Superstar the previous year. Jesus ended up as the lead player and Judas as Pippin - yes our director had his favorites!!!

  • Thanks to both for responding. Also sang "'Corner of the Sky" in High School- over 30 years ago- and loved it, but watching the video wasn't exactly interesting to me. Since I have to direct the music next year where I teach, I was interested to hear what other kids thought of the show. i will keep a more open mind about it now- thanks!

  • That was the most awesome set change ever.

  • Ok. so funny, that guy is Ralph in Greatest American Hero

  • Our school is considering doing this with a girl as the leading player. Has anyone done it that way and does it work?

  • yes, we did it my high school like 10 years ago now with a white girl as the lead. as long as whoever it is has an amazing voice. it doesn't matter who's telling the story.

  • Yes, many productions have had the Lead Player played by a girl, and it works just fine. This role was intended to be either male or female.

  • I'm doing this play for the summer.

    Auditions are tomorrow. :D Funfunfun.

  • i am feel 4 this song....i feel i don't like i fit in anyway i go

  • i saw this at the mark taper in LA. The guy who sang for Pippin was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

  • apparently our school is doing the play...i dont even know what it is.... :P

  • It's an amazing play. TRY OUT FOR IT!!!!

the play is about the eldest son of a king who doesn't fit in anywhere. It's really good. The Leading Player is basically the Devil. Which of course makes everything he does really flashy and awesome. XD There's a lot of meanings and lessons you can draw from this play if you think about it. and it's just good even if you don't think about it. XD

  • i will try out for it...and im already betting on who's gonna end up being pippin and the leading player :D

  • Even if you think you know, it doesn't hurt to give it your all. you never know what could happen. You may suprise even yourself.

  • i'll try i'll try... :P

  • Everyone learns something about themselves from this musical. Even me - I was the lights and sound guy, but I found bits of myself in Pippin. You'll love it all the much more if you really try your best and audition.

  • my school is also doing this song in chorous!!!

  • My school is doing this song in chrous for a concert too!!!

  • I think that was the coolest scene change I have ever seen..that was awesome

  • I agree hands down. The Leading Player is a great character.

  • i KNOW, right?
