I don't know if anyone missed this in the new movie, but I'm going to clear this up right now. IT IS AN ALTERNATE TIMELINE AND REALITY. IT IS NOT A REMAKE IT IS PRACTICALY ANOTHER SPIN OFF. Didn't anyone listen to Spock when he talked about Nero changing the timeline? I loved JJ Abrams' Star Trek.
I don't care what anyone says about the original Enterprise design. It is NOT "timeless," either externally or internally. It looks VERY much like it was designed in the 1960s. The color palette, model complexity & shapes and set design are from that decade.
please take it out to the star fleet gunnery range to be used for target practice. This thing should be scrapped for trying to impersonate a federation starship.
@CaptainPositron That's not even remotely close to true, though - there are differences, sure, but there are major, obvious design similarities. I think that the "problem" a lot of people have is that rather than a simple refresh of the Enterprise designed in the 1960s, the new one looks like an Enterprise designed in the 2000s.
Not major or obvious enough. The JJprise looks like a flying ipod with ridiculous blowup nacelles. Close but no cigar. The point I was making was that the Keonerprise shouldn't be dismissed so quickly.
@ncc1954 nah i liked the design the coulour and the sauser section kinda made me feel asif the ship could be real unlike most federation vessles the ship was more based around real ship design and i realy like the aspect of the design but i do get that it did looked a bit weird
I do like this design, but i am on the not so keen side because i think it looks too military, it looks like it should be in the parallel universe like we see in Star Trek Enterprise, in other words it looks too much like a warship rather than an exploratory vessel!!
I guess this design is something you either really love or really hate. I'm on the hate side.
I think mainly the nacelles and pylons have a sort of chunky look to them that ought to be fixed.
After seeing it a couple of times, I think that there is actually not much that is especially bad about the design - it just is different from the original, which is actually why I don't like it.

That IS the Enterprise for the new Star Trek movie. It's different because of the events that occurred when Kirk's father was in Star Fleet when the Nero went back in time THE FIRST TIME.
Gabe Kroener's design pictured here is not in the movie. This has been around before. It's a very talented fan's interpretation. His name is Gabe. He was in Trekkies and Trekkies 2. The ship wasn't.
Beautiful I really hope this or something like it makes it into the new film. This is what Trek needs something fresh and new with a bit of grit to it I know Star Threk is about good guys but it needs to have more of an edge. As much as I love Trek it just doesnt hold as a drama to Gallactica or Stargate
Stargate? Seriously? That thing is so cheesy it's horrific. I will give you that BSG is pretty intense though.
However, I'm expecting this will be just another shoot-em-up star trek. They've forgotten that it's about the people and the feeling of exploration. It was a story about humanity, reflected through other races. Today's writers don't get it.
Modern?!?!?! if you want a modern Enterprise they should make a new trek years after VOY and DS9 not try to redesign a classic thats trying to pass off a modern mustang as the original 65 ITS not
This is the Enterprise as it should have been in the new movie. Period.

Oi! Don't dis the enterprise! It certainly looks more like the TOS ship than the one from the JJ movie.
Don't get me wrong, the JJprise is a neat looking ship, but it looks nothing like the enterprise we all know and love.

@Maupin001 No, the '09 Enterprise, to me, screams Enterprise-F.
Interpretation is open.

That looks absolutely fantastic. Really loving the look of that design. Is it the real redesign? And if so where did you get it?
Either way, since they're redoing the ship for the new movie, I hope this is more along the lines of where they're going with it.
Very cool indeed.
