OK, let me help to straighten things out here. I've been a tech for 20 years, certified in the state of Colorado & licensed in the state of California. I've worked retail and hospital. I also have taught the Pharmacy tech program in a vocational college in Colorado. Back in 1991 I just did on the job training, no formal course. All you have to do is pass the PTCB test to obtain certification. A course is nice if you want experience for employment but NOT required in order to be certified.
Mar MacBayne is an idiot who simply wanted his payment from eHow for finishing a certain obligatory amount of video tutorials - because 90% of this information is flat out WRONG. You can take PTCB exam prep courses from as little as 6 weeks to as long as 2 years - ( usually in an A.A. Degree program ) OR: just buy an exam prep package on ebay for under $100 - sign up for the exam and pay $ 129 to sit for the exam. If you pass it you are a licensed CPhT. It is that simple.
You do not need a two year degree. Its a wise idea to go to school. The average length of time is 8 months. It is also a wise idea to pass the National Exam.
@katzejaeger hey i heard is about 6 to 8 months depending on you.but is really like that, and you just take the exams and you are all set to work, because i am considering this job very good

You do not need to go to school for two years to become a pharmacy technician, even though you say you do.
