this has always been so intriguing for me.. thanks for the video but i dont understand how the crane is magically lifting itself for the new parts lol
@waincanb The Cube going in is a steel frame, not cement. The lift is just another steel frame slight bigger so the new segment can slide inside. As to how they keep such perfect balance, that's the tricky part.
Thank you for your reply and thank to Youtube. I wonder why I never search through youtube before. Now I completely understand how they put a counterweight onto an end of jib.
@waincanb There are counter weights on the other side of the load. Its those big Square plates/boxes on the other side over hanging the crane from where the arm is. usually made of cement or lead.
is that timelapse?

@iansoreta Yep, we took a picture every 5 minutes.

It's a bit hard to see in this video, but there is a piston on the right side, powerful enough to raise the whole top of the crane.

@turmat01 I'm not sure exactly. Seems like it was less than an hour.

The good old Kangaroo Crane. Those Aussies were so clever to come up with that idea.

I still don't get it. How do they bring a tons of cement cube and put it at the end of a crane without losing balance???

So how do they do this?

If you look on the right side, you can see the huge piston that jacks up the whole top of the crane.
