@kubush Just because you put some informational tidbits in your post doesn't mean you should insult someone. Assuming what you think he implied is not a good argument to state your case. He said what he feels and that's his right to do so and people can vote for whoever they want for whatever reason they want to. The point I am making is he is not trying to institute religious tests for public office, he is stating whom he thinks is qualified.
If you don't like it, that's your problem.

@phreeck988 Saying that he thinks we need a person of faith assumes that a person of no faith would not be effective as a leader. It is inherent in what he said. I never said that he is trying to institute an official religious test. What I am pointing out is that his personal principals don't match with that of the Constitution.

@kubush The constitution is saying official test. He is not saying that someone without faith would be ineffective, he is saying they would not make the changes he wants to see or vice versa. Also, the constitution does not impose rules on who we can and can't vote for and why.

@kubush It's not that you can't vote for them, it's that you never get the opportunity to. What I was saying is that the constitution doesn't hold our hands on election day and check the box for us. It filters out who is eligible and who is not.

Dammit I wish people would quit confusing God and Jesus Christ. Many of the founders were Deists (including Jefferson) not Christians. Most were Deists pretending to be Christians. You can beleive in a God and evolution. You don't have to adopt superstitious religions to find deity. Use reason and nature and you will find out for yourself.

I don't like this way of thinking. If someone drops their faith it doesn't mean they don't have morals and empathy, atheists are usually more altruistic and have a larger capacity for empathy cos they're not tied up purely in their own salvation.
